West Ham plotting audacious Raheem Sterling swoop
West Ham United have expressed interest in signing Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling, according to talkSPORT.

West Ham find themselves inside the Premier League relegation places following a frustrating 2–2 home draw with Brighton & Hove Albion in their final match of 2025, leaving Nuno Espirito Santo eager to add reinforcements.

A deal has already been agreed to sign Gil Vicente striker Pablo, while Argentine international forward Taty Castellanos is also set to join from Lazio after reportedly reaching an agreement with West Ham.

It appears the East Londoners are not done with attacking reinforcements, with Sterling now another name linked with a move to the London Stadium.

The former Liverpool winger spent the 2024–25 season on loan at Arsenal, where he made 28 appearances and scored once. However, the 31-year-old has yet to feature in the 2025–26 campaign, and a January departure looks likely.

According to talkSport, West Ham have expressed interest in signing Sterling to reinforce Nuno Espirito Santo's frontline this January.

Following a failed summer move that saw the Englishman remain at Stamford Bridge, the winger is now looking to secure a move this winter, and the Hammers are now considering making a loan swoop due to his exorbitant £300k-per-week wages, according to the report.

However, the report adds that the England international is only considering a permanent move and will accept a loan deal only if an obligation-to-buy clause is included.

In another development, transfer expert Florian Plettenberg claims that London side Fulham are set to battle West Ham to sign Sterling, who could favour a move to Craven Cottage over the London Stadium.

Despite not playing regularly since his Chelsea axe, the 31-year-old can still influence matches, especially for a side like West Ham that could benefit from his experience and creativity in the attacking third.

A move to a club facing less scrutiny could help revive Sterling's form, and although his wages may be an obstacle, a deal tied to performances could make the switch workable. It is certainly an option the Hammers should explore, given the need for proven quality and experience to push for a top-ten finish next season.

Sterling, who has featured in 396 Premier League matches, is valued at £4m by Transfermarkt, though Chelsea are expected to seek a higher fee to approve his exit.

Why Liverpool are facing Fulham at the "right time" – but beware of direct threat
Liverpool appear to be facing Fulham at a time when Cottagers fans are encouraged by their current form, but absent players make it the "right time" to visit.

The Reds made an infuriating start to 2026, drawing 0-0 with Leeds at Anfield, and improvements are needed at Fulham on Sunday.

Marco Silva's side have picked up 10 points from their last four Premier League games, with survival once again looking all but secured.

With the action close, we spoke to Fulham fan and journalist Kyle Bonn (@the_bonnfire) to preview an important game for both sides.

 
How would you assess Fulham's season so far? Happy overall?
The main priority for Fulham fans every year is to stay firmly away from the relegation battle, so in that sense, yes, fans will very much be pleased with the season.

There is always a secret desire in the hearts of Cottagers to see the club return to the fringes of the battle for European places, and that feels quite far off at the moment.

But there can be few major complaints with the way things have gone so far this campaign.

 
How happy are you with the job Marco Silva is doing?
I feel like a broken record at this point, but Marco Silva is the greatest asset this team currently has employed. He is more important than any player at the moment.

Every year, we enter the season with an inordinate amount of holes in the squad, and this season was no different, possibly even more so – and yet Silva manages to keep this club overperforming to a remarkable degree.

Some managers aren't cut out for the highest levels of European football, but are instead meant to squeeze the most out of a piecemeal squad.

Silva is a prime example of that. He has found his sweet spot and is excelling. Once his time in SW6 is up, Fulham will have a serious problem on their hands finding an adequate replacement.

 
Which three players have impressed most for Fulham?
The three most important players to this Fulham squad at this stage are Antonee Robinson, Iwobi and Joachim Andersen.

Robinson missed nearly the entire first half of the season due to injury, Iwobi's away at AFCON (along with the intrepid Calvin Bassey and new signing Samuel Chukwueze) and Anderson had a slow start to the season.

Yet Fulham sit in 11th as the calendar turns to 2026. Remarkable.

Ryan Sessegnon has been a wonderful surprise in his return to the club after struggling to find greener pastures, while Kenny Tete looks himself again after a difficult spell with injuries.

It still shocks me that Lukic and Reed are contributors to this team, but credit to them, they repeatedly prove themselves capable. New signing Kevin has been exactly as fun as promised when he arrived from Shakhtar.

There aren't too many players who have obviously struggled, but the biggest one that comes to mind is Emile Smith Rowe.

He is having a better season than his first campaign at Craven Cottage, which is something at least, but he remains miles off justifying the club-record fee paid to acquire him.

He's still just 25, and so there is hope that he can continue this slow upward trajectory, but the fact that he remains short of being an everyday starter is still a major concern.

 
Do you think you will avoid relegation come May? Where will you finish?
There's already a 13-point gap between Fulham and the relegation zone, so I have no worries about the club being sucked into the vortex.

I don't think they are an 11th-placed team when looking over the squad, but we've been here before with a Silva-coached team.

I think 12th is probably about right for where they can finish come May.

There is a significant lower-tier contingent developing in the Premier League, so I could even see them finishing 14th or 15th, but still with a large gap between themselves and the relegation zone.

Eighth is probably the ceiling; they're not a contender for the fringe European places.

 
How do you assess Liverpool's season? Would you stick with Slot?
I have waffled over Arne Slot's credentials countless times this season. There are valid arguments to be made on both sides.

The suggestion that Slot won the title 'with Klopp's team' is ludicrous, because if that were the case, he should just be able to do it again this year.

Yes, they made significant changes in the summer, but they weren't so much changes as they were additions, and he could very easily just run it back with pretty much exactly what he had last year.

The problem is that Slot has not yet been able to adapt to the EXTREMELY rapid change in the football meta this season.

There has been a significant shift in the overall style of play in Europe's big five leagues this season, and the Premier League has seen the greatest shift of them all.

Fewer teams press and more teams play long balls. It has infuriated Slot to the point of madness — pull up any of his recent press conferences and you'll see him complain about teams going long against Liverpool at least twice.

I have no doubts that he is a very good manager, but where I do have my doubts is how he can adapt.

Man United are, to my continued bewilderment, sticking with their notoriously unadaptable manager through much worse, so it's not crazy for FSG (who are known for their stay-the-course mentality) to remain behind Slot.

As we've seen the last month or two, Liverpool under Slot are very much still a contender for a Champions League place.

But I still wonder if his inability to adapt will continue to cause problems if this shift in the overall philosophy of their opponents continues.

 
If you could only have one Liverpool player at Fulham, who would it be and why?
If you asked me this question in the summer, I would have had a completely different answer than I do now. At that point, there would be two clear winners in my mind — Alexis Mac Allister and Florian Wirtz.

I have always been a serious admirer of Mac Allister, and still am, but his cavernous drop-off in form this season has me concerned.

As for Wirtz, I was very much a fan of Liverpool writing a blank check for his services, as players with his capabilities don't come around very often.

I covered Bayer Leverkusen under Xabi Alonso quite closely, even taking a trip from the States over to Germany to watch them play — he's utterly brilliant.

Now, I'm not so sure. I would still gobble up either for Fulham in a heartbeat, of course, but this season, one player has emerged I never would have considered six months ago.

Dominik Szoboszlai has the perfect mix of versatility, grit, heart, football IQ and pure skill. You can play him anywhere and Silva probably would. He would be my pick.

 
Where do you see the key battles taking place on Sunday?
The most important battle here is, as it always is, in midfield, but for a different reason than you might normally hear following that cliche.

This Liverpool team has been beaten by much worse sides in the middle of the pitch this season, because they struggle to handle more direct play.

Thankfully for the Reds, Fulham aren't exactly the most direct team the Premier League has ever seen, but they certainly can play that way.

Jimenez is strong in the air up front and their centre-backs are happy to take space on the ball to get them in a better position before they counter.

If Ryan Gravenberch and Mac Allister control the game, Fulham will lose. If they give the ball away to pressure, there will be points to be had in this match.

 
What's your prediction?
I would have rated Fulham's chances much more had they not been missing three of their most influential players, currently leading Nigeria in a strong AFCON campaign.

I see Liverpool winning this one 2-0, and quite comfortably so.

Fulham can trouble a top side on their day, but they're too thin at the moment to pose much of a threat. You are catching them at the right time.

Bayern Munich could recall Jonah Kusi-Asare from Fulham
FC Bayern coul wind up recalling Jonah Kusi-Asare from his loan at Fulham in the Premier League

Much like Daniel Peretz's loan spell with Hamburg SV from Bayern Munich, Jonah Kusi-Asare's loan at Fulham has not quite gone according to plan. The 18-year-old has only made a total of five appearances across all competitions for Fulham's senior squad and one forty-four-minute appearance for the under-21 side back in November in the National League Cup against Aldershot Town. In the Premier League, he has only clocked a total of twenty-three minutes, which is a far cry from what his expectations likely were when he wished for the loan move away from Bayern.

Per information from Tz's Manuel Bonke and Philipp Kessler (via @iMiaSanMia), there are serious considerations right now at Bayern to recall Kusi-Asare's Fulham loan since things haven't quite worked out for him in the English top flight. Back in the summer, Bayern had different plans for the youngster as far as where he could have gone on loan, but he wanted to move to Fulham. Grasshoppers Zürich and different clubs in both Belgium and the Netherlands were considered by Bayern and more than likely would've proven to be far more beneficial for the young striker, though hindsight is always 20/20.

All things considered, this season very well might have proven to be a bigger chance to get minutes at Bayern as opposed to at Fulham. The German Rekordmeister have a comfortable lead at the top of the Bundesliga table and are already through to the knockout stages of the Champions League, with a DFB-Pokal quarterfinals clash against RB Leipzig to boast come next month. Fellow youngster Lennart Karl has taken the world by storm with the chances he's been given in the absence of Jamal Musiala and both Cassiano Kiala and David Santos Daiber were given their Bundesliga debuts by Vincent Kompany in the 4-0 win over Heidenheim to end the Hinrunde.

Playing in an attack with Harry Kane, Luis Diaz, Michael Olise, Serge Gnabry, and a returning Musiala was always going to be a difficult prospect for Kusi-Asare to accept, but he's essentially experiencing the same hurdles at Fulham. He had to fight for minutes against the likes of Raúl Jiménez, Harry Wilson, Emile Smith-Rowe, Adama Traoré, and Tom Cairney, among others. Manager Marco Silva has not had the right chances to give Kusi-Asare opportunities as the club is within reaching distance of European places in the Premier League table.

Watford FC 'surprised' reaction issued to Rocco Vata exit talk - Crystal Palace, Fulham are circling

Watford's five-game unbeaten run in the Championship came to an end as the Hornets were beaten 2-1 by Birmingham City at St Andrew's @ Knighthead Park on Monday night.

Javi Gracia's men did show some fight after being 2-0 down at half-time courtesy of strikes from Paik Seung-Ho and Demarai Gray, with Othmane Maamma clawing one back for the visitors, but it wasn't enough as Watford walked away from the West Midlands empty-handed.

It now means the Hornets have won just two out of their last six second-tier matches, and are seven points away from the bottom three, although they remain just five points from the top six too, highlighting how tight the table is at this stage.

In order to make sure they push towards the top end of the table, Watford could be in the market for some reinforcements as the January transfer window approaches.

However, there could be some exits to be sanctioned too, and one player who has been linked with a move away from the club is talented youngster Rocco Vata.

The Republic of Ireland international signed on the dotted line at Vicarage Road in the summer of 2024 from Celtic, netting three times and providing four assists in his debut term.

He had already notched two goals and as many assists in 10 second-tier matches this season to note his improvement, but the winger recently suffered a long-term hamstring injury in a big blow for both the player and club.

But it hasn't stopped some top-flight teams in England monitoring his situation, with a report by the Daily Mail stating Crystal Palace and Fulham are both interested in securing his services, with Vata touted to be worth up to £20m.

With this news in mind, FLW's Watford fan pundit has commented on the future of Vata, and how likely he is to move away from Vicarage Road in January.

 Speaking to Football League World, Watford fan pundit Justin Beattie has admitted he is surprised to see Rocco Vata linked with a move away in January given his current injury, admitting it would be disappointing to lose such a talented youngster on their books.

Justin said: "I haven't seen any reports about Rocco Vata being eyed up by the likes of Crystal Palace or Fulham, but I'd be very surprised if he makes a move in January. He does have a fairly serious injury at the moment, which is likely to keep him out well after the new year.

"He isn't a regular starter at Watford, although that is starting to become the case. I think most fans would be disappointed to see him leave him this soon into his Watford career as he is a promising talent.

"I think the price would have to be absolutely right if we were to sell him. Recently, at a fan's forum, the chairman Scott Duxbury, said that there are no plans to sell any players, but obviously, if a very high fee came in, they would have to consider that option.

It's no surprise to see clubs in the Premier League interested in Rocco Vata, with the winger showing a steady improvement in a Watford shirt at such a young age.

But the attacker is still continuing his recovery from a rather long-term hamstring injury, so surely these interested sides will want to see him return first and prove his fitness for the remainder of the season before making a move.

Because of this, Vata's full focus should be making sure he returns as quickly as possible to get back on the pitch and help his teammates.

If Vata can consistently be a bright spark in the final third for the remainder of the season when he returns, then he could be entitled to explore a jump up to the big time, but an exit in the new year should be parked given his latest setback.

West Ham still confident of Fulham raid for eight-cap Spain star but are exploring back up transfers
West Ham United have a list of alternate attacking options put together at a time when Adama Traore's move from Fulham is being dragged out, while the Cottagers themselves are exploring deals for two prospective forward additions.

Traore is out of contract at the season's end, and we exclusively revealed way back in October that a move to West Ham was being lined up in the winter window. And while sources continue to insist a deal is there to be done, Fulham's lack of options up front means a deal is proving far more problematic than originally anticipated.

The Hammers want to ensure they are ready to pivot in case the deal for Traore collapses. At the moment, they still believe they will sign him, but the deal is more difficult than anticipated.

Fulham boss Marco Silva played down the prospect of a transfer on Friday, claiming there has not been any offer for the eight-times capped Spain winger.

Sources from West Ham insist the clubs had an agreement before the transfer window even opened, though, and there was hope that a deal could be struck quickly.

That was always unlikely because Fulham currently have a depleted attacking cast, with Samuel Chukwueze and Alex Iwobi currently on duty at the African Cup of Nations, while Ryan Sessegnon, Josh King and Rodrigo Muniz are all currently injured.

Traore is not a major part of their team this season, but he is needed for depth at a time when they have started to pad out their substitutes' bench.

Now, with West Ham fearing they would be made to wait until the middle of the month and talks are open to try to solve the situation.

In light of that, sources say they will turn to a back-up list if the deal falls through.

There is still a belief Traore will be allowed to leave before the January window closes for business on Monday February 2 at 7pm.

That's because Fulham are also looking for new signings themselves and are expected to add two new players to bolster Silva's squad, who are now looking up the table after a slow start to the campaign.

Raheem Sterling and Ricardo Pepi are two options being mooted to come into the club, with talks ongoing on both fronts at the moment.

Meanwhile, there is also a possibility that Jonah Kusi Asare's loan deal at Fulham is terminated early.

The 18-year-old striker from Bayern Munich is not getting a look in – playing just 23 minutes across the Premier League so far – and in Germany they feel he would be better off returning to them.

We confirmed on New Year's Day that West Ham have an agreement in place to sign striker Pablo from Gil Vicente. The transfer is worth almost £20million (€23m, $27m), with the 21-year-old viewed as a real prospect for the future.

West Ham want to sign another striker along with Pablo, and that has now been confirmed as they are closing in on a deal for Lazio's Taty Castellanos.

We can also confirm West Ham's interest in former Leeds centre-back Charlie Cresswell and with a hefty transfer proposal now in the works.

Over at Craven Cottage, Fulham are facing an uphill battle in their quest to sign Pepi from PSV Eindhoven, with sources telling TEAMtalk the two conditions for a January transfer to happen.

Via FotMob, Wilson has created 18 chances in the Premier League this season, with an average of 1.2 per game.

Noah Okafor is the closest to him with 11, though it's also worth noting that he has been playing as part of a front two in recent weeks.

Annie Rolf signs for Fulham
Annie Rolf has signed for FA Women's National League Division One South East league leaders Fulham.

SheKicks.net understands she will be part of the matchday squad that host Actonians on Sunday.

Telling Fulham's official website what she hoped to bring the squad, Rolf replied: "A little bit of experience, a little bit of depth, obviously just the willingness to want to compete, win the league and take the team as far as we can go to climb the ranks to the professional standard.

"The ambition of the club, the professionalism, the direction they want to go, everything aligns with my values."

Fulham head coach Steve Jaye added: "We're delighted to have Annie join us, her experience coming from Tier 3, but also coming with the WSL 2 experience she had with Portsmouth, is super important to help the progress we're looking to make, and the push we are looking to make between now and the end of the season.

"Annie has come in and been a great fit with the group and adds good quality to our training sessions, and we're all looking forward to see her in our matchday squad soon."

Annie Rolf: her career
Rolf joins the tier-four side from tier-three Lewes, and also boasts a spell of more than 50 appearances at WSL2 team Portsmouth, signing a professional contract there ahead of the 2024/25 season as they transitioned to a full-time set-up.

She joined Pompey in January 2022, and on signing the one-year professional deal, manager Jay Sadler said: "Annie has been at the club for a few seasons now and was really unfortunate with injuries last year.

"We all know what qualities she brings; her energy and enthusiasm are infectious. She's been working hard over the off-season and I'm confident she will make a big impact on her return."

Fulham have had a €20million (£17.4m) bid rejected for Udinese midfielder Arthur Atta.

Udinese have no plans to sell the Frenchman, and it is unclear whether Fulham will make a second bid for the 22-year-old.

A tall yet technical midfielder, Atta only signed permanently for Udinese in the summer, but is already attracting interest from across Europe.

The former French youth international has been struggling with a hamstring injury of late, but is expected to return to fitness in the coming days.

What are the details surrounding Bara Sapoko Ndiaye?

Why are Bayern considering a Kusi-Asare recall?
According to the Münchener Tageszeitung, the fact that Kusi-Asare has only logged 23 minutes of action leaves the German giants pondering a different loan locale for the 18-year-old. Kusi-Asare's highly complex loan arrangement withthe Cottagers took quite a bit of administrative muscle to complete and Bayern are upset that Fulham haven't given the Swedish youth international a chance to establish himself.

Many Bundesliga clubs remain interested in Kusi-Asare and there are endless foreign clubs surely eager to give Swedish youth international a shot. It looks to be the case that – just as with keeper Daniel Peretz – Bayern will get the loan terminated early and move Kusi-Asare to a more promising developmental locale.

PSV have no intention of selling Ricardo Pepi to Fulham
Voetbal International are reporting that PSV have no intention of allowing Ricardo Pepi to join Fulham in January. The Eredivisie side has already rejected an offer from Fulham for Pepi and are expecting to have a quiet transfer window. The club are on course for another Eredivisie title and have turned things around in the Champions League after a slow start. Pepi himself has played 21 games this season and scored 10 goals.

It is quite a statement from PSV to reject an offer from Fulham for Pepi that was said to be in the region of €35m. The 22-year-old Pepi will hope to play a key role for one of the hosts of the 2026 World Cup this summer. Pepi left FC Dallas in 2022 to join Augsburg in Germany. He only played 16 games for the Bundesliga side, failing to score. After 13 goals in 31 games for FC Groningen on loan he joined PSV in 2023. Since then, Pepi has gone on to score 36 goals in 89 games for the Eindhoven based side.

Fulham is expecting seven players to be unavailable for Sunday's Premier League clash against Liverpool.

The experienced midfielder was called upon in the second half when he replaced the injured Kenny Tete at Selhurst Park, a substitution that added another name to Marco Silva's mounting list of absentees.
