£35m Man City transfer could be sealed before Fulham v Man Utd as boss confirms Crystal Palace target 'wants to leave
Man United are starting to look up the table, but they will have to look over their shoulder in their next Premier League game.

Manchester United might have left it a bit too late to challenge for the Premier League title and to make a managerial change, but there is still a lot to play for.

Michael Carrick hasn't done anything particularly out of the ordinary, instead, all he has done is put the players in their preferred positions. Wins over Man City and Arsenal has put the cat amongst the pigeons at the top end of the table and the fight for Champions League places has become a battle involving as many as 10 teams outside the top two. Up next for United is Fulham and there could be a change or two in either squad following the latest transfer news.

Man United could face new recruit in Fulham line-up
Sky Sports report that Fulham "are close to reaching an agreement with Manchester City for Oscar Bobb."

It follows a report last week from Fabrizio Romano who claimed a £35m deal was close to being agreed. Speaking on the transfer, Romano said last week: "Today I can tell you Fulham are very close to signing Oscar Bob on a permanent deal from Manchester City. Yes, because Fulham have made a verbal proposal to Manchester City and is close to being agreed for £35 million package for Oscar Bob.

"Why Oscar Bob leaving? Because at the moment at Manchester City there are several players in that position. winger they added Antoine Semenyo to the squad also if you see what Pep Guardiola said yesterday in press conference he was also not so happy with the situation around Oscar Bobb so it's very clear they have to part ways in this January window and despite many rumours now Fulham are going all in for this one."

Fulham weren't the only Premier League club in the running for the player as talkSPORT claim Crystal Palace have also held an interest.

Could Man City do United a favour?
What is certain, is that Bobb is leaving the Etihad with Pep Guardiola all but confirming that the winger is on the move. When asked about Bobb's future at City last weekend, Guardiola said: "I don't know yet. I know there are rumours, I know there are talks but I don't know right now." And when asked specifically if Bobb wants to leave City, before the end of the press conference, Guardiola responded: "I think so."

Fulham could close the gap on United with a win being just four points behind at the moment, a bit more quality and Champions League qualification isn't an unrealistic target. Marco Silva has built a robust squad, a solid defence and a forward line that can score goals.

There's not been more than a goal difference between the two teams since 2023 and the fine margins could decide who wins and who loses. For once, City could do their Manchester a rivals if negotiations take a little longer.

Richard Hughes to finalise TWO transfer deals with Fulham
Liverpool came close to selling Andy Robertson over the weekend.

The 31-year-old Scot is understandably keen to play first-team football in the leadup to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

And Spurs could have offered that on a more consistent basis than Liverpool - with Milos Kerkez now firmly established ahead of Robbo in the left-back hierarchy.

Selling Robertson - for around £5m ahead of his contract expiring next summer - would have triggered a comeback for Kostas Tsimikas.

The Greek, 29, is currently on loan at Roma but hasn't been having the easiest of times in Serie A. It was therefore speculated that he would return to Anfield to serve as Kerkez's understudy for the second half of the campaign.

Tsimikas on Fulham radar
We may well sell Tsimikas back at Anfield - depending on how negotiations go with Roma. But it would be a short stay with it becoming increasingly clear that Richard Hughes is preparing to SELL Tsimikas in summer 2026.

A report in TEAMtalk states that Fulham is set to be the Greece international's next destination - just one year before his contract expires in 2027.

Bear in mind Robertson will be leaving this year as well - meaning Kerkez will likely need a new deputy in summer.

But Fulham won't stop there. The London side are ALSO likely to strike for Harvey Elliott according to the same report.

There is little point buying Elliott in the January market as having played for two teams already this season - Liverpool and Aston Villa - he isn't eligible to play for a third.

Fulham want Harvey Elliott back
The 22-year-old emerged at Fulham as a teenager before moving to Anfield in summer 2019. He now looks destined to leave the club - with a contract set to expire in 2027 like Tsimikas.

Liverpool were looking for £35m as part of the proposed deal which was due to take Elliott to Villa on a permanent basis. It will be a lot less than that in summer with just one year left on his deal.

Hughes might be optimistic of getting £15m for Elliott. And if we are using Robertson's valuation as a yardstick then £5m shouldn't be impossible in the case of Tsimikas.

Tsimikas is reported to be making around £75k per week according to Capology with Elliott on £40k per week.

That could in turn open up space in the budget for Hughes to add another player at left-back with

Aston Villa won 2-0 away at Newcastle United over the weekend. Emi Buendia and Ollie Watkins got their goals in the North East against the Toon Army. They are now four points behind Arsenal in the Premier League table.

Unai Emery's side are still in the title race against the odds along with the Gunners and Manchester City. They have enjoyed an eye-catching season and have been very consistent. The Midlands outfit will want to keep their momentum going for as long as possible.

Aston Villa eye Fulham winger Harry Wilson
Aston Villa are being linked with a move for Fulham winger Harry Wilson. According to CaughtOffside, they are admirers of the attacker this winter. However, they face competition from the likes of Leeds United, Nottingham Forest, Everton, Crystal Palace and Brentford.

Wilson, 28, could be seen by Emery as someone to bolster his attacking department. If he joined, he would offer more competition and depth at the top end of the pitch. He is out of contract at the end of the season and is due to become a free agent in June.

The Wales international, who has 67 caps to his name, has made 26 appearances in all competitions in this campaign and has chipped in with nine goals and five assists. He has been on the books of Fulham since joining them in 2021. The attacker has become one of their most prized assets under the guidance of Marco Silva.

Silva has admitted his side are in a 'fight' to keep him and has said: "We are in the fight, we are trying to keep him. If you ask me if it's going to be easy, I say it's not going to be easy. The more he scores, many more clubs are going to be around him. This is football business. When a player goes to the end of his contract, this kind of thing is going to happen. I know he's happy in our club and how much he's enjoying the moment. It's up to the club to do the maximum to keep him."

Aston Villa should propose swap deal with Fulham for Harry Wilson
Aston Villa face strong competition from elsewhere in pursuit of Wilson. Therefore, they need to think outside the box to try and land him. With that in mind, they should consider a swap deal including Ross Barkley to try and tempt Fulham into selling before the deadline on Monday 2nd February.

Barkley, 32, is said to be on the radar of Sheffield United, as per Football Insider. His long-term future at Villa Park is up in the air right now and he has struggled with injury issues over recent times. Therefore, cutting ties with him before the end of the January window would be a sensible move.

His deal runs out when this term ends. However, there is an option to keep hold of him until 2027 if needed. Prior to his move, he had spells with the likes of Everton, Chelsea, OGC Nice and Luton Town.

Barkley is an experienced operator at the top level and is a useful person to have in and around the dressing room at Aston Villa. However, he isn't getting any younger and offloading him would free up space and funds in their ranks to pave the way for Wilson. The Merseyside-born man wouldn't be a bad option for Fulham if he went there and he could plug a gap for them for six months.

So we give Villa a player in the form of his life for Barkley, someone who struggles to get a seat on the bench. Do they think we are stupid, I know we may lose him on a free at the end of the season but get a bench player at best on return. They should be told to go forth and multiply. Why do these clubs think they can dump there unwanted players on us is beyond belief, a bit like Chelsea and Sterling.
