What was once an innocent childhood ditty now seems filled with foreboding - just what are these 'teddy bears' having for their picnic, crack cocaine and vodka? rather than the cheese and tomato sandwiches, cake and  lemonade, I remember from childhood!

Rupert even gave me a sense of foreboding in childhood despite the joy of his adventures, wandering the woods and discovering secret tunnels, etc.  I found it very disconcerting that his mother and father did not appear to understand that he was a completely different species.
