Who remembers when everyone was slagging the Arabs off regarding the World Cup ? "One of the better world cups in recent times" financially also

This latest shambles is next level, people simply can't afford it, I know I certainly wouldn't  pay more then £100  to go watch a football game, not because I'm cheap it's just because to me it's simply not worth it to watch a game of football" it's a working man's game and without the real supporters the game is NOTHING

I remember when the last World Cup was in the states in 96 we were sneaking into games, even snuck into the final at the Rose Bowl, slipped a $20 into the security's hand and got  in,  good luck with that now in the digital age !!!

Fast forward to 2026 and it's now 20 Grand to go to the final, What kind of idiot pays that to watch a game of football FFS only a moron

I also read somewhere that the finals gonna have an half an hour half time and Coldplay will be performing 🤮"not sure if that's true" ? But sounds about right,

'Me personally im not interested, I'm even losing interest in Fulham currently

F FIFA and everything they stand for

The game has become Disneyland and the people that follow it in the future will  no longer be real supporters,

It's revolting

Its very easy - dont go - dont give them the satisfaction of ripping you  off

We wont get anywhere near the final so you wont miss anything

Stay at home and watch it

All the time people pay the money then the dearer it will get
Remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
I will be as good as I can be and when I cross the finishing line I will see what it got me

All very well but if the stadiums aren't full of real supporters then what's the point ?
It's fake

I don't know what you were watching in the States back in '96 mate but it wasn't a World Cup. The security guard must have wondered what you were bribing him for.

Feels so different here from '96.  That one was exciting and felt authentic - like we were letting the World come here and play their game so we could learn all about it.   This time it feels utterly manufactured, with branding and money everywhere.  No one is being allowed to discover how to feel about it, you are being told (and sold).

And yet ALL the tickets are being sold at outrageous prices.  And there are, what, almost 2x the number of games?  Adam Smith is getting the last laugh.  I'm not going - staying home to watch with friends at home and in local bars.  Always been more fun that way (will admit the US has more of a game-watch culture in bars as we ALLOW TV TO BROADCAST THE GAMES . . . . what a silly rule).

Pretty much the way the world has become 30 years later unfortunately, with everything, sad state of affairs
Just glad I got to witness the good stuff from that era,

'96 was the Euros.

I was livimg in America when the last WC was on. I saw 3 matches in Boston, great entertainment, good crowds.  I do recall seeing Argentina win 3-2. Great game. Price was very reasonable, quite normal for the time.

Even if I still lived there and the fact that Scotland actually qualified, I would not pay the prices being asked.

I would Bongo if I thought I could

Sofi stadium in Inglewood is about 15 mins away from me, apparently they will be charging $200 just to park your car in the area

It's revolting I want nothing to do with it

I dont get the Adam Smith part - this is a monopoly masquerading as a free market.  I think his would be the last laugh if the customer voted with his feet and chose to stay away because the prices were too high, or if the supposed 'dynamic pricing' actually reduced the ticket prices to a reasonable level.

Logicalman

I do get that the political situation does impact the WCF this year, but NO overt political comments should be posted, that includes references to Governments or political parties (or their base) in any of the three host countries.

Please keep politics out of this, even if others outside of FoF cannot.
Logical is just in the name - don't expect it has anything to do with my thought process, because I AM the man who sold the world.

for ages the world cup has been a circus. The last one I thought was any good was Italia 90
Since then it has all changed.

it's too big, too long, too many teams. the palayers need a rest at the end of the season.
the prices are criminal and idiots plus coporate stuff cough up.

i hate what football has become, it surely isn't the beautiful game anymore it is just a money making enteprise funded by TV znd run by blood suckers.

But hey you don't have to agree, it is just my opinion based on observation.

Fair comment. I'm not sure there's anyone who can't agree with that.

Agree totally, unfortunately it simply follows other sports down the same rabbit hole of financing & sponsorship, ending up in greed and corruption. Perhaps footie has completed it's transformation into just entertainment, and all that entails, rather than something it was before, to which the great Bill Shankly alluded to when he said: "Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that."
