Birmingham City pulled a blinder with £2.25m Fulham transfer ending a 38-year hoodoo
Birmingham City ended a near 40-year hoodoo when they raided Fulham for a striker who would go on to become a club legend in the form of Geoff Horsfield.

By the turn of the new millennium, it had been 14 years since Birmingham had last played in the top flight and almost four decades since they'd last reached a cup final. But in the summer of 2000, they made a signing that would come to change the shape of the club's future.

Trevor Francis had been in charge of the team since 1996, but the team had got stuck in Division One of the Football League - now the Championship - and had lost in the 1999 play-offs to Watford in the semi-finals on penalty kicks.

Geoff Horsfield had worked his way up from the bottom
Geoff Horsfield started his playing career in non-league football, balancing that with his job in the construction industry. His playing career almost ended prematurely with a knee injury in 1996 while playing for Witton Albion, but when he recovered from that he joined Halifax Town - for a second time - and he only turned fully professional when they were promoted into the Football League.

His goals helped power Halifax into the League, and seven goals in his first ten games in Division Three attracted the attention of Fulham, who paid £300,000 to take him to Craven Cottage. The goals kept flowing; 15 goals in 28 games as Fulham won the Second Division title by 14 points, and a further 14 in all competitions the following season.

But Fulham were changing, and when he arrived as the new manager in July 2000, the former French international Jean Tigana decided that Horsfield didn't fit the profile of striker that he wanted and put him up for sale. Birmingham had an offer of £2.25m accepted for him.

Horsfield became a player with a taste for the big occasion
His impact at St Andrew's was almost immediate. His goals helped to fire Birmingham into the play-offs, although they lost in the semi-finals to Preston North End on penalties.

More importantly, though, he got them to a cup final for the first time in 38 years. Birmingham hadn't reached one since the 1963 League Cup final, but Horsfield scored twice in their League Cup semi-final second leg against Ipswich to force the tie into extra-time. Further goals from Martin Grainger and Andrew Johnson finished the job off. In the final, Horsfield had been substituted by the time Liverpool won the penalty shootout 5-4 after a 1-1 draw.

The following season, the Blues went one better in the League. Stern John signed that summer from Nottingham Forest, and formed a lethal partnership up front with Horsfield, taking them to fifth place in the table.

And this time Birmingham successfully negotiated their way through the play-offs. In the final, they played Norwich City and the score was still blank at 90 minutes. Norwich took the lead a minute into extra-time, but Horsfield equalised 11 minutes later and Birmingham won the penalty shootout 4-2 to secure a return to the top flight for the first time since 1986

Horsfield didn't lose his appetite for the big occasion upon promotion to the Premier League. He scored his first top-flight goal against Aston Villa in September, and when they played the return match at Villa Park the following March, he ended up in goal. Birmingham won 2-0 to complete their first League double over their bitter rivals since the 1977-78 season.

But by the end of that season, Horsfield's time at St Andrew's was coming to an end. Steve Bruce had replaced Francis in December 2001 and Bruce preferred to use him as an impact substitute. Frustrated at a lack of game time, he started the 2003-04 season for Birmingham, but transferred to Wigan Athletic for £500,000 in September 2003. He'd go on to play for West Bromwich Albion, Sheffield United, Lincoln City and Port Vale, before retiring in 2010.

These were heady times at St Andrew's and Horsfield became a legend as a result. Through their first cup final in almost 40 years and promotion back to the top flight for the first time in 17 years, he was a central character, always there to score the important goal. As they embark on an attempt to get back into the Premier League again, Birmingham fans may be wishing they had someone of his calibre leading their front line this time around.

From Portugal: Marco Silva is leaving Fulham and has rejected Nottingham Forest
Marco Silva is set to leave Fulham this summer but has already rejected Nottingham Forest's approaches.

A Bola report that the Fulham coach is now being targeted by Benfica as a replacement for Jose Mourinho, who is heading back to Real Madrid.

A Bola: Fulham spell over soon
The Portuguese newspaper reports that Marco Silva is 'receptive' to the idea of joining Benfica this summer.

The Portuguese club are now prepared to move forward for the Fulham coach as soon as Jose Mourinho's exit from the club is confirmed. The 'prevailing conviction' at Benfica at this moment in time is that the 'Special One' will return to Real Madrid.

That's led the Eagles to quickly put in a plan in place to replace him. The expectation is that everything will happen next week.

The Fulham manager is the one that has been targeted to replace Mourinho should he depart. The first 'intense contacts' have already been held with Silva about the position. He is said to have provided a 'very positive' response to the interest.

In fact, all indicators are that Silva is very interested in the job and that it would be possible to reach an agreement quickly.

While the Fulham coach is giving no public clues about his future, his decision has already been made. Fulham's offer to renew will be rejected. He will leave Craven Cottage this summer.

To be clear, the newspaper states: 'It is public knowledge that he has a renewal offer from Fulham, which, A BOLA knows, he will not accept. He will therefore part ways with the Londoners, whom he has been coaching since 2021.'

Nottingham Forest rejection
He will also reject any approaches from Nottingham Forest. While the English press is reporting that Evangelos Marinakis wants to reunite with Silva following their time together at Olympiacos, Silva is not interested in the job. He will turn down Nottingham Forest if an offer is made.

A Bola state he's rejected Forest, and go on to say: 'Our newspaper confirmed the desire of millionaire Evangelos Marinakis, owner of the English club, to work with Marco Silva again.'

Benfica cannot make any announcements about a move for now. But talks with Silva regarding his contract and restructuring the squad can continue.

Benfica president Rui Costa wants to resolve the matter as quickly as possible so they can prepare for next season in advance. He is using the presence of Mario Branco, who worked with Silva at Estoril, to his advantage. Benfica and Silva value this connection highly.

The plan for now, is to focus on the game against Estoril. After that, it will be Mourinho's future and then appointing Silva. But all signs point to the latter leaving Fulham, rejecting Nottingham Forest and heading back to Portugal this summer.

Preview: Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Fulham - prediction, team news, lineups
Looking to provide some late-season cheer for their disillusioned fanbase, Wolverhampton Wanderers welcome Fulham to Molineux for a Premier League clash on Sunday.

The Old Gold are crawling towards the conclusion of a nightmare campaign in the top flight, whilst the Cottagers are still nurturing hope of qualifying for European competition next season.

Match preview
Since a shock 2-1 victory over current Premier League champions Liverpool at Molineux on March 3, Wolverhampton Wanderers have endured a seven-game winless run (D2 L5) in all competitions as they wait for their unavoidable relegation to the Championship.

For a 19th match in this wretched top-flight campaign, Wolves failed to find the net last Saturday afternoon, when goals from Jack Hinshelwood, Lewis Dunk and Yankuba Minteh secured a routine 3-0 victory for Brighton & Hove Albion.

Following that sobering loss on the South Coast last time out, Rob Edwards's sorry bunch remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier League standings, three points behind 19th-placed Burnley and 20 points back from Tottenham Hotspur in 17th spot.

Last weekend's fixture at Brighton resulted in Wolves' 24th league defeat of the 2025-26 campaign, with the proud Black Country club never recording more losses in a 38-game season.

All three of the Old Gold's Premier League triumphs have arrived at Molineux this term, however, Sunday's hosts are winless in their past three home contests, including a defeat to relegation-threatened Spurs on April 25.

Facing issues further up the Premier League rankings, Fulham are in serious danger of being spat out of the race for European football, with the West Londoners winning just one of their past five league fixtures (D1 L3).

The Cottagers' hopes of snatching a top-seven finish were severely dented last time out at Craven Cottage, where a second-half strike from Brazilian starlet Rayan handed Bournemouth a narrow 1-0 success.

As is the case with this weekend's hosts, Fulham have netted just once across their past five Premier League battles, meaning that they have dropped to 11th position, five points behind seventh-placed Brighton with only two matches remaining.

Consequently, Marco Silva's men need to secure their second victory over Wolves this term on Sunday to have any chance of seeing the continental lights later this year, with the Cottagers failing to complete a league double over the Old Gold in the past 46 campaigns.

Only Leeds United (15), Burnley (9) and Wolves (5) have collected fewer than Fulham's 16 Premier League points on the road this season, with this weekend's visitors scoring just 16 goals across 18 away contests so far.

Team News
Wolves are sweating over the fitness of first-choice goalkeeper Jose Sa, and it is currently unclear whether the shot-stopper will return to action on Sunday.

Starting the defeat at Brighton, backup keeper Daniel Bentley could feature once again, with the veteran conceding seven goals across three Premier League appearances in 2025-26.

The hosts' goalkeeping issues are increased further by the absence of former West Bromwich Albion man Sam Johnstone (shoulder).

Dismissed during the defeat to Bournemouth last weekend, Fulham's Joachim Andersen is set for a spell on the sidelines.

Last starting a Premier League fixture on March 4, Issa Diop is preparing to replace the Danish defender in the Cottagers' backline in the West Midlands.

Both struggling with muscle-strain setbacks, Ryan Sessegnon and Alex Iwobi are doubts for Sunday afternoon's clash at Molineux.

Wolverhampton Wanderers possible starting lineup:
Bentley; Mosquera, S Bueno, Krejci; R Gomes, Andre, J Gomes, H Bueno; Mane, Bellegarde, Armstrong

Fulham possible starting lineup:
Leno; Castagne, Diop, Bassey, Robinson; Lukic, Cairney, Wilson, Smith Rowe, Chukwueze, Muniz

Pre-Wolves Press Conference
Marco Silva does not believe Wolverhampton Wanderers' impending divisional status will promise a simple contest at Molineux on Sunday.

They will be a Championship club in 2026/27, but Silva knows his Fulham team will have to be at our best if we're to secure a first ever league double over Wolves.

"I know that they are relegated, but if I go back and look for, for example, their last six home games, I saw them winning against Liverpool, I saw them winning against Villa, I saw them get a great result [2-2] against the team that is on top of the table [Arsenal] in the Premier League, that is fighting to be champions.

"And if you think that even if they are or not relegated, it's going to be easy or not, when you have these type of games, players want to show their capacities – individual point of view, them as a football club, and of course they want to win the game as well.

"It's that feeling [for Wolves] of last game of the season at home with your fans, you know what that represents as well. They want to finish in a different way. Everything is there, and that showed to me that it's going to be a difficult game.

"I didn't know about the double over Wolves – let's go for it. But the first thing you have, I'm not talking about respecting themselves, more to respect ourselves, what we have been doing, and the points that are there for us to fight for."

Silva: No offer from Benfica and no talks
Marco Silva has insisted he has not held talks with Benfica.

The Fulham boss has been linked with a return to his native Portugal amid speculation over his future.

His contract at Craven Cottage expires this summer and he has so-far not agreed a new deal.

Silva is a contender to take over at Chelsea and reports have suggested he is wanted by Benfica.

Asked about the Benfica job, Silva said: "I don't want to talk every single week about rumours and all that stuff.

"But of course I can mention the situation. Let's be clear about it because I think it's important to clarify, definitely; I didn't have any offer from Benfica.

"I didn't have any conversation with Benfica, and it's important right now to tell the truth about that situation."

Silva says he does not know when a decision on his future will be revealed.

"I don't know when the decision will come. I don't know," he said.

"It's a decision that we have to take, of course myself I have to take, but when it's coming, I cannot tell you. I don't know.

"Let's see. Now we are focused in all the games and after we'll see what's going to happen."

Silva also confirmed that Alex Iwobi is in contention to return for Fulham against Wolves on Sunday.

Matchday Preview: Wolves
🆚 Wolverhampton Wanderers
🏟 Molineux
🏆 Premier League
🗓 Sunday 17th May
⏰ 3pm

The opposition

A horrible season for Wolves enjoyed something of a resurgence under Rob Edwards as they entered the New Year, winning 14 points from their first 12 matches of 2026, having taken just three in their first 19 fixtures of the campaign. That form quashed any risk of landing the unwanted title of lowest tally in Premier League history, but they have fallen on hard times once again for the run-in, with a draw against 10-man Sunderland the only positive result they've claimed from their last five. Wolves could still finish 19th, though, but will likely need to better Burnley's results in each of their final two outings.

Team news

🐺 Having had a couple return to training this week, Wolves should have a full squad to choose from.

🤍 Alex Iwobi is back in contention, meaning we will just be without Ryan Sessegnon and Joachim Andersen, through injury and suspension, respectively.

Iwobi passed fit to return for Fulham at Wolves
Marco Silva has confirmed that Alex Iwobi is in contention to play for Fulham against Wolves on Sunday.

Iwobi has missed the past four matches with a hamstring injury he suffered in a 2-0 loss to Liverpool.

"It's a boost, definitely a boost," said Silva, who continues to face questions about his own future.

The Whites boss has been linked with Benfica but insisted he has received no offer from them and has not had talks with the Portuguese club.

Team News: Iwobi back in contention
Alex Iwobi could be available for Fulham's trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday, after missing three games with a hamstring injury.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, manager Marco Silva said: "Alex is back in contention for the game. Last week, he had some training sessions with us. This week, throughout the week, he's been working with us. It's been a good week for him."

Aside from his time away at AFCON, the Nigeria international had been almost ever-present for Fulham until being forced off in last month's draw at Brentford.

"He's a big player for us, definitely," Marco explained. "He's a player who's very versatile, who can play in many different positions. He's also a player that can add extra quality in the decision making.

"In all aspects of the game he's a key player for us and he's shown it again this season. It's a boost. Definitely, it's a boost."

While Joachim Andersen will be suspended following his sending off in last week's defeat to Bournemouth, Ryan Sessegnon will be Fulham's only other absentee.

"Joachim Andersen is going to be out as you know, and Sessegnon is still out. All the other players, they are going to be available for the game."

Fulham face call to drop gambling sponsor from next season
SBOTOP, who are run by TGP Europe, do not currently have a UK gambling licence

Entain Group, the owner of gambling brands such as Ladbrokes and Coral, has written to Fulham, calling on the club to drop its gambling sponsor, SBOTOP, next season.

Despite operating as Fulham's front-of-shirt sponsor for the last three years, SBOTOP does not hold a UK gambling licence, and Entain has called on Fulham to "commit to only using gambling sponsors with a licence from the Gambling Commission next season".

Fulham agreed a club-record front-of-shirt sponsorship deal with SBOTOP in June 2023, which came into effect at the start of the 2023/24 season.

Premier League clubs agreed in April 2023 to ban front-of-shirt gambling sponsors from the start of the 2026/27 season.

But Entain has raised concerns that clubs could instead try to negotiate deals "for perimeter board advertising and clothing that excludes shirts".

Fulham, who are in the process of negotiating a new front-of-shirt sponsor ahead of next season, were warned in May 2025 by the Gambling Commission about their relationship with SBOTOP, who were at the time run by TGP Europe.

TGP Europe had to surrender its UK gambling licence after failing to "carry out sufficient checks on business partners" and breaching "anti-money laundering rules."

Entain say they are "deeply concerned that government delay might allow clubs another season of unlicensed gambling sponsors" and wrote to Premier League CEO Richard Masters earlier this year regarding the issue.

Masters responded by saying that the "Premier League takes matters of integrity seriously" and that "the removal of front-of-shirt gambling sponsorship is a significant step".

He also added that "clubs are permitted under the Gambling Act to enter into agreements with overseas gambling firms, provided that the gambling activity in question is not available to customers in the UK, and that clubs take their compliance responsibilities seriously".

The UK Government are consulting on banning all unlicensed gambling operator sponsorship in sport, including sleeve patches and perimeter boards.

Entain, though, remain concerned that "the ban will take too long to come into effect" and that "loopholes" could be exploited, which may "undermine" the Government's proposed plans.

Fulham are explicitly referenced twice in the letter. But there are suggestions that similar letters may have been sent to other Premier League clubs with ties to sponsors who do not have a UK gambling licence.

Ben Coleman, Labour MP for Fulham and Chelsea, and the Fulham Supporters' Trust have also been contacted by Entain regarding the matter.

Fulham chose not to comment when approached by Standard Sport. SBOTOP did not respond to Standard Sport's request for comment.

From the Press Box: Iwobi back in contention for final away day
JK provides an update after Marco Silva's press conference

Two more games to go. The season is almost at it's end. Some say the season died last weekend when we lost to Bournemouth, but Joe Sansom has talked me through all the permutations needed for Fulham to squeeze into a European position on the final day, but the chance is low, so no more mentioning of the E word in this piece.

This was the penultimate pre-match press conference of the season - but will it be of the Silva era? There were probably more contract based questions posed to the manager than usual, but it's understandable given the situation.

It wasn't the first question of course. Team news should always come first. We know Joachim Andersen will miss the game, but what about duo Alex Iwobi and Ryan Sessegnon?

"Alex is back in contention, he's been working with us this week. Andersen is out (suspended) - Sess is out too. Big boost to have Alex back", said Silva.

Having Iwobi back will add another option to the Fulham midfield, or the left-hand side. The Nigerian hasn't featured since the goalless draw to the bus stop.

Silva has been linked to Benfica this week, with Jose Mourinho rumoured to be re-joining Real Madrid at the end of the season. But when the questions were put to the Portuguese regarding returning to his home country, he was clear in his response.

"Let's be clear about it because I think it is important to clarify that I didn't have any offer from Benfica, I didn't have any conversation with Benfica and it is important right now to tell the truth about that situation," he said.

Fans are eager to know whether Silva will commit and sign a new deal which has reportedly been on the table for some time. Silva confirmed he still has not come to a decision.

"Of course we are preparing for the next season with the football club," he said. "We have been having meetings and of course the final decision will come and when it will come we are going to know from myself and from the football club but everything is being prepared from us.

"I don't know when the decision will come, I don't know. It is a decision that we have to take, of course myself I have to take but when it is coming I cannot tell you, I don't know. Let's see, now we are focused on the Wolves game and after that we will see what is going to happen."

So, I'll take a leaf out of Marco's book and focus on the Wolves game too.

They've had a disastrous season. Relegated and fan unrest pretty much from when the first ball was kicked. They've turned to former Luton and Middlesbrough boss Rob Edwards, who was unable to get them out of the perilous situation they were in when he took over.

The club hosted a fans' forum this week - a chance for fans to voice their opinions to three senior members of the club. I listened to it in full, and squirmed in my seat with the brutal honesty and hard-hitting question the fans voiced during the 90 minute broadcast.

It made me think - I know we're not entirely happy with Fulham's recent run of form, but it could be a whole lot worse. There was a lot of admission that mistakes had been made, and trying to jee up optimism for their upcoming Championship campaign. Some fans ignored the buzz words and laid into the board and manager a little more. It was an uncomfortable listen, but interesting at the same time.

The home faithful will want a reaction after a dismal display at Brighton last week, while the Fulham fans will want three points in their final opportunity to follow Fulham away before the end of the season.

It's important Fulham go and get the three points to boost morale ahead of the final game against Newcastle. I hope we can see some Fulham goals - we haven't had many of them lately.

Safe travels to all going up to Molineux on Sunday.

Wolves vs Fulham: Preview and Prediction
Wolves will host Fulham at Molineux on Sunday, looking to salvage some pride in their final home game.

Wolves have been relegated from the Premier League, and they have nothing to play for ahead of the game vs Fulham at Molineux on Saturday afternoon. However, they should look to give the fans something to cheer about.

The Black Country outfit are without a win in the last six Premier League matches. It will be interesting to see if they can bounce back strongly. On the other hand, Fulham are struggling right now. Marco Silva's men have picked up just one win from the last five Premier League games.

The Cottagers will be looking to secure a place in the top half of the table. The West London outfit are 11th in the standings right now, and a win here could prove to be vital for them. It remains to be seen whether they can pick up all three points on the road. The Hard Tackle takes a closer look at the encounter ahead of the latest meeting between the two sides.

Team News & Tactics

Wolves
The home side will be without Leon Chiwome (knee), Enso Gonzalez Medina (knee), and Sam Johnstone (shoulder). Wolves are likely to shape up in a 3-4-2-1 formation vs Fulham, with Dan Bentley in goal.

In the back three, Toti Gomes will start alongside Pedro Lima and Santiago Bueno. Jackson Tchatchoua and Hugo Bueno will start as the wing-backs here. They will look to keep things tight at the back and hit the Cottagers on the break.

As for the midfield unit, Joao Gomes and Andre Trindade will add defensive cover and control from the middle of the park. Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Mateus Mane will start as the attacking midfielders here.

They will add width, pace and flair to the team and help create opportunities for their teammates. Finally, Adam Armstrong will lead the line for Wolves vs Fulham on Sunday.

Probable Lineup (3-4-2-1): Bentley; Lima, Toti Gomes, Santiago Bueno; Tchatchoua, Joao Gomes, Andre, Hugo Bueno; Bellegarde, Mane; Armstrong

Fulham
Ryan Sessegnon (thigh) and Joachim Andersen (suspension) are ruled out of the game. However, there is some good news, as Alex Iwobi is fit and available. Fulham will shape up in a 4-2-3-1 formation vs Wolves, with Bernd Leno in goal.

Timothy Castagne and Antonee Robinson will start as the full-backs here, and they will look to help the team at both ends of the pitch. Meanwhile, Calvin Bassey will start alongside Jorge Cuenca at the heart of the defence.

As for the midfield unit, Sander Berge and Alex Iwobi will add defensive cover and control in the middle of the park. They will look to win the ball back for their side. Joshua King will start as the attacking midfielder here, and he will look to create opportunities for his teammates in the final third.

Oscar Bobb and Harry Wilson will start on the flanks, and they will look to add pace and flair to the side. Finally, Rodrigo Muniz will spearhead the Fulham attack vs Wolves, getting a rare opportunity to feature from the get-go.

Probable Lineup (4-2-3-1): Leno, Castagne, Cuenca, Andersen, Robinson; Iwobi, Berge; Wilson, King, Bobb; Muniz

Key Stats

Fulham have three wins from the last six matches against Wolves. Meanwhile, 21 goals have been scored in the last six matches between these two teams.
Fulham have picked up two wins from their last six Premier League matches.
Wolves are without a win in their last six Premier League matches.
Wolves have failed to win their final home league game in any of the last five seasons (D3 L2), since beating Crystal Palace 2-0 in 2019/20. On the other hand, Fulham have won their final away league game in the last two seasons, most recently doing so in three consecutive campaigns between 2002/03 and 2004/05.
Wolves have failed to score in a league-high 19 different Premier League games this season. There have been just 10 previous instances of a team failing to score in 20+ in a single campaign, most recently Norwich City in 2021/22 (22).

Player to Watch

Harry Wilson
The Fulham attacker is our key player to watch out for. He will look to create opportunities for his teammates and find the back of the net. Fulham have been overly dependent on Wilson in the final third, and he could make a big difference here.

Wolves have been quite poor at the back, and Wilson has the quality to punish them. The home side will need to keep the Welsh international quiet if they want to get something out of this contest here.

Prediction

Wolves 1-2 Fulham
Wolves will look to put up a fight here and grind out a positive result, hoping to salvage some pride out of a forgettable campaign. On paper, Fulham are the better team, and they will look to pick up all three points. However, the Cottagers have been quite poor in recent weeks, and Marco Silva will demand a lot more from his players.

The West London outfit need to win these games if they want to finish in the top half of the table. The two sides are likely to get on the sheet here, but the visitors have more quality in the final third, and they should be able to grind out a narrow victory. The Hard Tackle predicts a 2-1 win for Marco Silva and his charges.

Marinakis devastated as Fulham man set to reject Nottingham Forest advances
Marco Silva has insisted he has received no contract offer from Benfica amid reports in his native Portugal that he is ready to leave Fulham to succeed Jose Mourinho.

Silva is out of contract this summer and the build-up to Sunday's trip to relegated Wolves was dominated by discussion of his future on Friday.

"Let's be clear about it because I think it is important to clarify that I didn't have any offer from Benfica, I didn't have any conversation with Benfica and it is important right now to tell the truth about that situation," Silva said.

Fulham have been keen to keep the 48-year-old, but Silva insisted the ongoing uncertainty was not having a negative impact on planning for the future.

"Of course we are preparing for the next season with the football club," he said. "We have been having meetings and of course the final decision will come and when it will come we are going to know from myself and from the football club, but everything is being prepared from us."

Asked when he might be able to offer clarify on his future, Silva added: "I don't know when the decision will come, I don't know.

"It is a decision that we have to take, of course myself I have to take, but when it is coming I cannot tell you, I don't know.

"Let's see, now we are focused on the Wolves game and after that we will see what is going to happen."

Silva set to reject Nottingham Forest move
According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, via Sport Witness, Silva is also attracting interest from Nottingham Forest, namely from owner Evangelos Marinakis.

The pair worked together during Silva's time at Olympiacos, and the Reds owner is a big fan of the 48 year-old even despite Vitor Pereira's impressive start to life in the Midlands.

He is set for heartbreak however, with the report claiming Silva has no intention of moving to the City Ground.

It' s not all good news for the Cottagers either though, as the report also dispute Silva's own comments, saying 'all signs point' to the tactician swapping London for Lisbon this summer.

Probable Lineup (4-2-3-1): Leno, Castagne, Cuenca, Andersen, Robinson; Iwobi, Berge; Wilson, King, Bobb; Muniz

They have got Andersen wrong lol

I will be as good as I can be and when I cross the finishing line I will see what it got me
