Is King Good Enough?

One day you are the upstart teenager with all the promise in the world with eyes on being the next big thing and before you know it you are the 21-22 year old that is just not good enough.

I like King's game but if he was truly going to be a special player, it feels like we would have seen more. I am not saying he cant be a solid PL player, but if the goal was to see him bloom into a special player, I feel like he needed to show more this season.

Next year is absolutely pivotal, but my fear is that he isnt going to be rumored to head to Real Madrid or City anytime soon. We need our young players to come good to reap the benefits of their play and to eventually make money on the transfer.

im a huge fan. smart beyond his years, when Bobb first came i thought the trio of king Bobb and sess could be special. lets if a new manager can unlock things

The potential is there but he's lacking strength.

He needs to stop getting bullied off the ball.

Moussa Dembele the 3rd

I was shocked by how useless he was when he came on as an 8 today. Pulling Iwobi for King probably cost us any chance we had to win today. I've never been a big of a fan as most. I just think he isn't physical enough and doesn't have the speed or technique to make up for it. I've also said the same about Wilson and have been proven wrong to some extent.

I think he has plenty of technique.

At his age there are things that can still be coached or physically developed and other things that it's just too late to learn or develop.  On this he's in a good place, at least as good as Sessegnon was at a similar age, operating in a much higher level than Sess was.

So he's on course to be a highly effective premier league player provided he works hard  That course can always be derailed by events.  Listen to the young man and an impression emerges that he knows he needs to remain level headed, learn and work.

None of which will necessarily turn him into a mainstay of an international team, nor deliver a trophy for Fulham, but his future seems bright.

Nero

think he would show more quality if we were a quick counter-attacking team, we aren't, we are slow so slow

bencher

He has potential as there are a lot of good fundamentals. The things that will make the difference are body strength and finishing. If he can bring those to the table he'll be a quality player.

SimonDaviesEnjoyer

If he can put on 10kg he'll be unstoppable. Without that 10kg he'll be a Championship pub stomper, but probably not PL material.

Whitestone

Have people forgotten that he's only 19 years old and this is his break out season in the best league in the world. There seem to be some very unrealistic expectations of Josh at this stage of his career. The lad is top quality and not surprisingly still developing. The best is yet to come.

Ludlow Richard

Yes.

And if we sell him, this forum will go into total meltdown.

He needs to get stronger, he gets bullied off the ball to easy. If he adds that he will be quite the player.

Sadly though 8 fear we will eventually have to sell him, not now or next year but maybe 3 to 5 down the line. FFP or CSR will impact us and we will need to generate more income, maybe sell a player or two, maybe raise costs on tickets or maybe margins or merch if we don't sell.

He and Bobb have that problem as they are still young and lightweight. I hope we bring in some muscle during the summer to offset the domino chips.

Time will tell, methinks, regards King.  Looks like a little garden statue amongst the redwoods though.  Like his quickness and speed, but needs some bulk/strength etc to compliment the pace, as he can be knocked off the ball easily.  Anyway, I do like this kid, and he needs some more time before judgement can be passed.

Speaking of flyweights, we have quite a few in this team, players of smaller stature relying on speed/quickness.  King, Bobb, Kevin, Chukwueze (if he stays) just to name a few.  FFC needs some bulk and braun.  Attacking players (and striker) the likes of Mateta, Olise, Eze, those types of players that have that speed and agility but also not so easily pushed around.  Always liked the Wolves Arokodare, that type of player for FFC, and he was available last summer and was hoping FFC would take a nibble.  IDK, maybe he's available with the relegation?  He doesn't seem to get a bunch of pitch time, but does contribute.  Just a bit concerned about the flyweights.  Might also be reason why we're so poor defending corners, with height advantage being exploited?

MisfitKid

My suggestion on what he could work on, "STAY ON YOUR FEET"!...  ::scarf::
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most...

amazes me that most on here like social media types right him off as not PL ability wise in your view.

I'm going to defend King. To my mind, he was the only one of our substitutes who made a positive impression. He got involved and demonstrated good technique in some tight situations. He linked well with Bobb and looked to move the ball forwards with more purpose than the team, as a whole, were showing. While there was nothing remarkable in what he did, to describe his contribution as 'useless' is wrong, in my opinion.

blingo

We play faster and bobb kevin chuck and king will shine oh and you can add muniz to that

If we nurtured and held onto a few more Kings we would be in a far better position now! The boy's a star.

Dodgin

He is a fine young committed, determined club player, just a matter of time and he will be one of the first names on the team sheet. While we are at it, I think we should hang on to Jonah K-Asare
