Muniz seems consistently injured every season,we should have sold him when the offers were in for him.

He didn't miss many games in the previous seasons before this. Last year was the outlier.

I'm surprised at the handwringing over Charles. Exactly the kind of player we need, he is a box to box midfielder who is good defensively and pops up with big goals. He's also a young British player and should be able to adapt well to the Premier League and he's looked good against PL opposition before.

We don't always get to command the transfer fees, but I think that that price seems like an alright deal for us and he could be a player that would be selling for a profit in the future as I've read many consider him to have a top six club ceiling.

There aren't many sure thing signings, and the proof will be in the pudding.

He had good performances against Arsenal in the cup, so I don't see why not.

I definitely skew towards optimism on this one.

If what is true about Shea then 30 million is too much. For that price you should get a ready made quality DM not one that misplaces passes or needs another season to adapt, and this is the from the championship not the PL.

I disagree, the market for midfielders is a joke. Remember that Spurs paid 100m for Tonali. Don't see who else is available for EUR30m?

Raphael Onyedika (25) just went to Frankfurt for 10m, we should have been all over that. Would have been my top choice.

A few others for that role next to Berge that spring to mind.

Arbeloa won't/hasn't used two DMC's. The players you mention would all be in instead of Berge not with him (bar James who is a box to box midfielder and could play with him in Arbeloa's system).

Played for Southampton, loaned to Sheff Wed in 2025 then returned to Southampton. Doesn't shout top class to me.

Elliott andersen, barely played for Newcastle (44 games in 5 seasons), loaned out to Bristol rovers a few years ago. He seems to be doing OK and rovers doesn't shout top class to me?

I saw a Saints site that had this on it:

Obviously someone who hasn't been down by our part of the river in the summer. My daughter got a place at Southampton Uni but turned it down because the town reminded her of Slough.

Happy with the Charles and Pitarch rumours. Hope we get them both. I like the new younger quality with upward trajectory targets we seem to be going for. We mustn't overlook the GK. I have said before and will say again. We must bring in a new GK and either move on or push Lecomte to number 3. Someone else said ideally someone to replace Leno, which should be a longer term priority but at least bring in a younger competent number 2 who can play cup games. Leno won't be ever present forever. He is bound to have an injury or illness etc at some point.

Nothing against the French goalkeeper obviously money must be an issue at the time but with the Germans age the Frenchman is a lot older you get the feeling with his wages and we paid half million for him and considering we have about hundred young goalkeepers with none yet have impressed it's seems our goalkeeping dept isn't taken seriously.
