"Intriguing name on the #Fulham U21 sheet against Aldershot. Jose Sani or as we know him Trialist A got the nod leading the line.
He's a 21yo non-league forward who's incredible stats last season caught the eye of  Fulham, formerly of Berkhamsted & Hayes & Yeading.
Had a massive 25/26 season (17G, 15A across all competitions)."

I would absolutely love to see us pick up a lad from non league football and catapult him into the big time. Not overnight obviously, but with coaching and some time who knows!

We kind of did that with Martial Godo also.

I watched the game. He looked good in parts; quick, good movement, moved well with the ball and made some clever little touches. He didn't however look very strong, rarely won any header but we're talking about a young lad playing on his own up front v some pretty experienced players.

Went to the U21 game last night as well. My son and I thought he's was one of the better players there, so much so we looked him up after. Definitely worth a punt.

Agreed, watched it on stream but suprised by Jim above saying he didn't think he looked strong. I thought the opposite, wasn't amazing in the air as he's not the tallest I don't think, but he looked solid and really put himself about and rode challenges pretty well from what I saw, especially given he was playing against men older than him, I thought he looked like he'll really beef up. Shame he missed his penalty but he put in a decent performance.

Hey, he's even got some a youtube package ha

With ALB going out on loan it makes sense to bring in another striker for the youth regardless so hope he gets a shot at developing in a serious academy. Good luck to him

That's some grandstand in the screen grab Jay!!
Re him being strong, on the ball he did look it, but too many times with his back to goal or waiting for the ball, he got muscled out of it. However def worth a crack in the u21s.

Jordan James to Wolves. Guess we were never really interested in him.

Nor were any other Prem teams we presume. Can't all be wrong can they?

To put it into context, from the level he has been playing at a move to Aldershot for the lad would be an amazing achievement let alone the Premier League,
He would have been watched by the likes of Woking and Southend and no doubt Wimbledon and Orient but none have made a move so far, for whatever reason,
I wouldn't be against it but I'll be surprised if we do sign him

Same could be said of Martial Godo who we picked up from Margate. He may well have had offers around same time as this trial at Fulham this summer who knows.

Stranger things have happened and players can slip the net + our u21s do need attackers with ALB on loan unless JKA is gonna play there alot - we currently only have Zepa Olyott and Tyrell Works listed as attackers. Not suggesting he's a world beater but they saw enough to give him a trial at least and he performed pretty well all round so won't have harmed his chances.

Ian Wright playing Sunday League till 21
Vardy picked up late famously from non league
Our own Chris Smalling we picked up from Maidstone

Ya never know, anyway, if not then not - but good luck to the lad

Interesting.

There are some decent names at arsenal who id happily have here.

It's hard to know what they're doing with their youth integration right now, but Nwaneri, Lewis-Skelly and Mosquera are all very good prospects who could be starting elsewhere.

Viera had an incredible season in the Bundesliga but seems to have no future at Arsenal - I'd have him here.

My surprise pick would be Kepa Arrizabalaga, though. Experienced keeper who's still only 31, was incredible at Bournemouth a couple of seasons ago, and has the Spanish link with Arbeloa. Could be a very affordable upgrade on Leno...

Someone posted on here the other week a list of the last 10 young players of the season in Championship:
Jordan James
Jobe Bellingham
Archie Gray
Alex Scott
Brennan Johnson
Michael Olise
Jude Bellingham
Max Aarons
Ryan Sessegnon
Ollie Watkins

Some list of talent there!

Personally I'm very happy with our signings so far and the nature of our links. I do think we've been too slow yet again, however. Wasn't this our latest ever start to summer business? If it's true that we're looking to make 7-8 signings in total, I'd have hope we'd do a couple more before the season starts. And letting Diop go without a replacement lined up seems particularly poor.

Have to confess that each time I read his name, I am reminded of Monty Python's Philosophers Football sketch.  I've got him turning out for the Greeks. Being dead would be no impediment, it was pretty much de rigeur. Being a duck, well every team needs someone who is good in the air.

Have you seen any of Kepa's recent games. Definitely nowhere near an upgrade to Leno.

On paper no - given the JKA signing. On pure first new signing date though sure, by a couple days - we'd tied up the deal within usual range of last week of July - but the announcement didn't arrive till the beginning of August post medical.

However we then signed 2 back-to-back, followed shortly after by Shea Charles, so one could say this was the latest start to summer business depending on how it's sliced and what's omitted, but wouldn't tell full story over something like last year, where we signed a backup keeper a few days earlier - but otherwise signed no one till last couple days.

Regarding Diop agree the result is frustrating, albeit I can see that we clearly felt Nwaiwu was close before all the moving of goalposts that apparently went down there. And he was second choice so there's that. I'd of course preferred we had our RCB in the door by now but it does seem it's not for lack of making significant bids at least. Hope we get some news there soon - apparently theres a bit of a domino set of transfers going on where Strasbourg are buying a CB which frees up their CB who's a target for Rennes - which might see them finally let Ait Boudlil move go through. 🤞🏼

You're right that he's been poor lately, but he's not had a run of games for arsenal and that clearly affects confidence.

The season before last at Bournemouth, where he was a consistent starter, his keeping stats were much better than Leno's.

He may not be exactly what we want, but I think he's likely an upgrade on Leno, who's not been a great shot stopper or good with his feet for a few seasons now...
