And we give Real 50mil out of 100... we get 50mil income minus 34mil we paid, so we are good 16mil :) Not too bad.

Hatch007

It was reported that Real have a 30% sell-on clause rather than 50% in respect of Garcia.

50% was the reported sell-on for Angel which is why we only paid €4m for him

Yeah he was world class the second half of that magical season.

Entirely agree with that. He was unplayable, the best cf spell I'd seen from any Fulham player going back to the 80s

I think it is reasonable to assume that the sell on amount is calculated on the profit, so in that case if it was 50 % (which is isn't, allegedly) we would pay Real an additional 33 million, and pocket 67 (or 33, if we deduct our initial outlay)...

BestOfBrede

Instead of just calling him 'the Austrian', just say 'Clomp' and we'll know who you mean!

love him as a player but he's always injured

He's not injured now, and he produced 2 goals last week. He's still a valuable player for us in various ways, including in leadership, and he has that steel about him that we may need over the course of the season.

agreed and I love Kenny as a player  "but" its always a matter of time till he's out for 4 months

consistency is the key

It's not a percentage of profit, it's percentage of total fee.

Are you sure? Cause that would make him almost unsellable unless he's a huge success. Makes no sense for any club to agree to that in my opinion.

Yes I'm sure. That's equivalent to buying 50% of the rights, which is banned in The Premier League. This is standard practice for Real when selling their young players. We negotiated a discount for Garcia and Palacios, Real have 30% sell on for them.

"In a typical Premier League transfer, if you hear that the selling club has a "20% sell-on clause", you cannot assume whether it means 20% of the entire future transfer fee or 20% of the profit. It depends on the wording of the original transfer agreement." Chatgpt

Interesting, that makes sense. So if we paid £35m, we essentially valued him at £50m (£35m for 70%).

The Cravenette

So if we make a loss they still get their percentage?

I initially assumed it was percentage of profit as well, but I looked into it and it's not. Having a 30% sell on fee is the same as Real Madrid selling 70% of player rights, in both cases Real Madrid would get 30% of the total fee when we sell the player.

Apparently part owning players is now banned globally, so whenever you read that a club are selling 70% of player rights, it actually means they're guaranteed 30% of the full transfer fee when that player is sold.

Yes. We apparently offered €60m to exclude any sell-on clauses but they're gambling we'll make a profit, so they can get more money.

Athletic reporting Luc de Fougerolles will be going on loan to Real Salt Lake until January.

Hmm, seems like a bit of a downgraded move.. surely he's not going to just indulge a career in the US? He's better than that. Surprised he didn't get a move to the Championship

Feels to me that he got a bit neglected at the end of the window - we probs didn't want to send him out without an RCB coming in, Affengruber signs, the window shuts so now LDF is not getting first team minutes so it's either Saudi or MLS.
