My take on Saturdays game "as an outsider"

haven't been since this time last year when we beat Brentford cos I live in LA, I generally get back once a year to visit family etc.
it was a beautiful day and the ground looked beautiful as ever with that new stand gleaming in the sunshine, everything was perfect other then our SUPPORT, a London Derby, the atmosphere was dire, as flat as pancake to say the least, it was borderline embarrassing other then the occasional wimpy "COME ON FULHAM" chant we had nothing to offer, Palace fans quite rightly singing "is this a library" I cant really argue with that, they were laughing at us

as a team I thought we played quite well, lots of shots attacking wise I was quite impressed, my only complaint as others have mentioned was why was Castagne and Robinson playing so far up the pitch with Bassey and a relatively slow Anderson being left exposed, I thought Anderson had a good game but speed is not his thing, he's a solid defender that needs cover, which was know where to be found

the thing that got me was when the boos rang out at the end of the game, and that ridiculous "what the hell was that" chant started roaring out, the loudest our support had been throughout the whole 90 mins, what's that about ? the support is they're to inspire not insult, 3 games into the season after a relatively good display, all be it a loss.
not sure exactly how that's gonna inspire the players for future games as they walked off the pitch with they're heads down

when the game ended and the booing started I got out of there asap,3 games into the season  I found it to be disheartening and rather pathetic, if anyone deserves booing id say it should be directed at our support, like a bunch of spoilt brats

Just my 2 bob, things need to liven up in there sharpish if we want to win this fight

I know I don't have the right to criticize as im not there every week BUT we were pathetic and are all responsible, get behind the team, its the only way, especially this early in the season

I'm not adverse to a drum or two to get things going so long as they're not placed anywhere near me!

I've always liked libraries so I always take that chant as a compliment.

100% mate. We have a cohort in our fan base that don't deserve a ticket. I'm a ST holder and I will be there again to cheer the team on not boo those wearing the badge on the pitch or in the dugout.

Never threatening to actually win anything. As long as the squad is happy , having a laugh, all is well. Thats why they got upset with a few well deserved boos. They're not used to fans expecting more. Because they will never play at the top, the very top, they will never experience real fan pressure.
If Real Madrid or Barcelona played like that, at home, they'd need a police escort to get out of the ground.

I rarely attend these days but when I do I note that the atmosphere is fairly poor. 30 years ago when Fulham were promoted from the basement division, average attendance was around 6,700 and there was more noise. I'm guessing back then around 90% of the crowd were Fulham fans. Although that number is now higher, I guess a lower % are now actually FFC fans.

I too now live outside the UK but still go back for two games a season. Our fanbase is, and has been for a long time, far too quiet. We need to sing up and get behind the team. Remember when we were behind to Juventus at the Cottage and "Stand up if you still believe" rang out? We definitely need more of that..And imo booing never helps..

I've seen this before. Damien Duff, a great player, was interviewed in his last season with us. Oh, how he loved it, all the players were mates, all joshing,playing jokes , having a  great time.  We conceded 85 goals and got relegated.
You see the same complacency with Leno, Anderson, Robinson, Iwobi. Been here a few seasons, very comfortable, just clocking in the time.
I think this manager can see this, and he's going to put it up to them.

Yep, can't imagine there being any other fanbases out there seeing the defending we have and not booing as well to be honest. It really has been shambolic.

It feels the players and some other fans are a bit soft. I'm not a booer, but it's inevitable that some would.

There was also a lot of appreciation for the players efforts too, and for King.

fast forward to the following Saturday, I thought our so called novice manager set us up well today

no boos either just positive vibes, seems like our owners made some very good signings indeed
