Got this one spot on  :031:

Murphy – 5.5, was very poor overall, giving the ball away numerous times inexplicably and mis-hitting long passes which could have caused Odense trouble. Improved in the second half to be fair and started to get into the swing of things but was then replaced by Sidwell. Wouldn't have played him personally, like I said I would have preferred to have seen Gecov get another chance.

good assessment as always.

Winners tonight: AJ - 2 goals and worked his socks off all night.

Swartz - 2 top class saves. Cool calm and collected.

Kelly - Another good game. Carry on like this I might have to start liking him.

Losers - Smurf. Been our leader in previous years but is this a season too far?

Senderos. Buy some studs!

Unjust criticism.  Briggs - left his winger too much room to cross, too many times.

Kasami - Wrong decision too often.

However these boys are part of the (our) future and will learn and improve from nights like this.

Finally a word of praise for the ref.

Not fussy, handled the players well and got all the big decisions right. Bet I dont say that too many times this season.

Until AJ got his second, for me it was very close between him and Clint for MOM. He surely should figure in the "winners" section, along with AJ, Mark and the excellent Kelly.

Kasami is a worry - skillful but almost always makes the wrong decision.

I actually thought Etuhu had a good game, he was having to clear up a lot of the sh1t that Danny created.
With Danny it feels like he doesn't want to play in Europe but as he is such a good professional I cannot see him playing badly just because he doesn't want to be there. So why does he seem poor?
Remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
I will be as good as I can be and when I cross the finishing line I will see what it got me

Don't know how old you are but at 19 I made a hell of alot of wrong decisions but thankfully learnt from my mistakes.

Let him do the same and he will be a better player for it.

Kasami with a 5.5 is lucky, the guy has looked so f**king average every time i've seen him, no final ball, no change of pace etc. Jol needs to go and re-evaluate where he's going to play him

Very harsh. He has fantastic instincts for getting into dangerous situations.  Have to love that about him. His decision making was poor last night but there's so much potential there it's scary.  If we stick with him he'll reward us.

If he could do something when he got into those dangerous positions I wouldn't mind. I just really can't see what all the fuss is about, even after taking into consideration his age, inexperience, being in a new country and not playing his natural position. Nothing he does excites me.

What do you do with young footballers though?  The great Leeds team of the sixties integrated young players and accepted that they wouldn't be quite right for a year or so.  Peter Lorimer especially springs to mind, iirc.  They need time on the pitch to work things out.  It takes experienced players long enough to adjust.  Even Cristiano Ronaldo wasn't that good when he first started at United.  Kasami's shown more balls and determination than any young player we've seen in recent times, is strong and has a good technique.  He just needs to put it all together, and I'm sure that'll happen in a year or so.  In the meantime we just need to show a little patience as he works things out.

i'm not doubting that he'll eventually be a good player, I just can't see why a lot of people praise him so much now when imo he's done nothing to merit it. I havn't seen the flashes of brilliance you expect to see from an attacking youngster.

I'm not trying to pick a fight, I just see nothing exciting in him. I hope i'm wrong.

+1 Kasami has all the tools to be a great player. He probably should have had a couple of goals by now, so when luck turns his way, we will be good.

As the season wears on, he will be integral. How many other 19 yr olds couls step into this team in the place of Duff/Dembele/Dempsey and offer almost as much as them? Not many I would argue

Me neither, and sorry if it's come over that way.  It's like with Smalling: for all the mistakes you could see he had *it*, that hard to define something.  Kasami's not like that but there's still something there that makes me optimistic.  I agree that his overall contribution to games (City aside, where he was really good) has sometimes been disappointing, but I love how involved he's been.  For a 19 year old to step up to take a penalty at Stamford Bridge is mind blowing (on a few levels, sadly).  We'll see.  Leon Andreasen looked like he might be a bit special, too...

So why does he seem poor?

take his yellow card for example. If you were reading the commentary you'd have thought there was a misprint.

Player receives ball. Player turns and assesses his options. Player dribbles for two steps. Player receives yellow card for poorly timed challenge.

How does someone get a yellow card for a poor challenge when they are in possession and dribbling the ball?! Shouldn't happen. Even when you factor in that it was pretty miraculous that he started to run with the ball in the first place rather than his trademark passing it backwards or sideways it's just ridiculous that he would be so **** at it.

The fact that it was the only memorable tacke is also noteworthy for an alleged defensive player.

I don't get a 'buzz' when he's in possession that I do with other players. He seems very competent but also fail to see anything really special at the moment. Personally am much more excited with Frei in the glimpses we've seen of him so far although, to be fair, no way could he come and and do the job Kasami is at the moment.

Hoping that Kasami does develop into something special but he's a bit of a curate's egg at the moment.

agreed. after smallings first start for us and the england u21s i called him to be an england international because he had 'something', even though he wasn't getting 8s or 9s in terms of performances. i dont quite get that buzz about kasami, not a criticism i just dont think hell end up being a united regular, but kasami does have alot of potential that's for sure.

damn, now I have to figure out who that was wearing the #10 Kasami shirt the four or five times I saw him play. Evidently it wasn't Kasami, since the guy I saw looked very bright and promising.

Luckily most of you aren't Fulham's most successful manager like me  :008: . Kasami will be very good for us, but of course at 19 he will make mistakes, good point by the way JBH. Frei on the other hand should be playing straight away in these games, despite my calls for him to go on loan, this boy excites me big time, really hope he goes on to fulfill his potential rather than fade away to Orient. The future is bright the future is Kasami, Briggs and Fei  :54:
