I'm having one of those "Everyone else is doing better than us" days today.. But, for any CEO to say "We've got a world class left back in Briggs" seriously has something wrong with them.

What happened to the idea of respect for people's opinions?

The clue is in the title CEO. He's not making footballing decisions so why get so irate?

Well, he kind of was, he said "We've got a world class left back in Matthew Briggs". In my book, that's a footballing decision, that's even more than a footballing decision, that's a footballing statement. And do me a favor, don't preach to me about respect, when it's you that goes around this forum half the time disrespecting others about their opinions.

I don't disrespect people's opinions without cause. If I respond negatively it is because posters have tried to justify their opinions with inaccuracies or spurious arguments.

Who died and left you in charge of deciding who should be considered wrong? Or that opinions are inaccurate? Or that it is your place to be disrespectful when you think it is warranted? You are disrespectful to other posters consistently on this board, because you think you know better. Please read the rules of using this board again. If they don't make sense to you then there are plenty of other places to post in the manner that you do. I respect the fact you support the club, but I don't like the way you behave with others around far too often. Chill out with your tone.

For the harmony of this board I hope we sign someone everyone agrees with soon, might change everyone's mood! Jesus wept.

Although Fayed and Khan probably make the final decision. Mackintosh will have and will have had a big input into who becomes manager.

I agree with Admin, i'm having a bad few days of gloom and doom regarding our Transfer policy and what affect it will have on next season

No other club seems to have such protracted transfers which end up with the player signing for someone else.

He said that?? I always thought Macintosh was shrewd but if he made that statement I am now very worried. World class and can't command a regular place on the bench? I didn't realise we had so many world class left backs at the club keeping him out of the team.

I'm not sure how much I disagree with our policy.

Other clubs are taken for a ride and get horrible deals leaving the club with a flop or struggling to pay wages. We also have to consider carefully our budget based on our in-comings from home and away fixtures in comparison to the likes of Newcastle, who may not be as attractive in terms of football and league safety etc but are bigger so can afford bigger wages and bring in more signings (Admittedly this window they've done very little but seem favourites to match Bents wage demands as opposed to us).

Bottom line is, De'Canio was installed late last season, noticed his problem area's and has jumped on them straight away by installing 9 new players, I think?

Everyone had them down as relegation candidates before this, but now with the added quality they will finish a comfortable mid-table (ish).

In regards to their players, they went out and got their targets, no problems. It didn't drag on for weeks/months and there didn't seem to be any hitches either.

We on the other hand seem to constantly flap about, make excuses or completely price a player out of a move.

I'm still gobsmacked as to how Norwich went out and got van Wolfswinkel and Swansea Bony.

But they got them easily because nobody else wanted them?   And I will also hold back passing judgement on how a new manager with a new team fare in the Premier League next season, but if you want to presume that yourself then you crack on.

Additionally, I've not seen the club make one single statement regarding any of these signings or non signings as they may be.  The fact that people think that any of Osvaldo/Bent etc are a possibility is pretty much all hyperbole and stuff quoted from lazy journalists found on the internet.

Sure, we could do with a couple of more players in if they are the right fit, but there is no point running out like headless chickens and blowing whatever budget we may have on players that aren't right simply because the budget is there.

We have another month of the transfer window to go, and we normally do our business rather late so I won't worry until a lot closer to to the end of August than I will now.  Additionally, if we don't get the players that the club are after, we already have three good signings in the bag which will help to shore up what was at times last season, a leaky defence.

Yeah, they did spend a ridiculous amount on established players and Sunderland haven't spent the same amount but making a lot of changes quickly doesn't always work out.

I think we had targets in place and we were very shrewd with our acquisitions of Stekelenburg, Amorebieta and Boateng. The takeover has clearly thrown us off course a bit.

Agreed.  Let's not forget that Sunderland laid out over 30 million pounds last summer, plus a couple of frees who might have been on high wages (Cuellar, Saha) and still barely avoided relegation.  There's no guarantees.
