Yep, I would have him back at Fulham in a heartbeat.
As long as he admits he made a mistake and he should never have left. Eating a little bit of humble pie would do him good!

Make of this what you will, will they, won't they
Seattle Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid plays down reports in the Seattle Times linking Tottenham forward Clint Dempsey Schmidt said as far as he knows, no contact has been made with Dempsey and ladded: "You can never close the door on anything, but right now there's nothing that's nailed down and concrete."
The coach did confirm that the team is looking to "add something significant" before the transfer window closes on 8 August. He noted that could be a midfielder or a forward, with the priority "definitely somebody in the middle of the field".

Going to Everton....

Which is a shame for him and for us. If he goes he will do very well for them. A great sadness that he left us in the way hr did and we lost a great player.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Wish that we could've come to terms with him back when, but it wasn't to be. I wish him and Everton luck with the exception of when we play them if that is where he winds up.

I couldn't agree with this anymore, it is a real shame.

Not seen anything regarding Everton, but I can't imagine that he would end up back with us whilst Mr Jol remained in charge.

He and Eddie Johnson at Seattle would make a great combo...  fp.gif
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most...

I am sure by now that you all understand that the whole thing was a big twitter joke... Clint is not going anywhere from Spurs...

If he goes to Everton, I would not be stunned but we always fall into the "oh they bought this and that so all the old players are surplus to the requirements" trap...

Everyone said Dempsey would never get a game over Siggurdson before last season but he played far more often than the Icelandic star... everyone said Holtby would replace Clint... he did for about a week... then Clint was back in the starting 11...

If Clint was serious about moving... my hopes would be that it would be back to Fulham... he would fill an immediate need and allow Ruiz to try and fit in somewhere else... he scores goals and goals are what we need.
Just score 3+ goals a game and we will gain promotion...I promise

Said at the time that he was never going to make it at Spurs, a team that utilises 'old school' wingers. Dempsey has always been an enigma, a winger who doesn't track back, get crosses into the box or stay on the touch line, which means he is mistrusted by some (like Hodgson at Fulham and Spurs now).

Should never have left us, where his unique style was not just understood but welcomed.

Is that for sure?  I haven't seen anything  definitive  and trustworthy.  Just a lot of speculation clothed in certainty.  Can you provide a link to your source, Humbled?

Looks like this just picked up steam again:

I'm pretty shocked he's ready to return to the MLS already. I know he said something about how great the atmosphere was during the USMNT game in Seattle a few months ago, but who would've expected this? (If true of course)

rusty shackleford

They must be paying him a fortune? Cant think why at 30 he'd go back. He can go to MLS when he's 34/5 and still be a big deal.

S001.gifDempsey  is lke that girl in shool who didn't have time for you. You'll believe anything negatve because you think it hurts her when infact, your just jealous

It amazes me that anytime this site gets slow you can always generate a multi page thread by mentioning his name. I think it is a conspiracy by the mods to drum up business. There are several posters whose names  I never see unless Clnt is the topic. Course, I always jump n as well. Glutton for punishment I suspect.

Still......... :dead horse:

I had no love for Clint after the way he left and whilst he was playing for spurs, but it just feels like a damn shame if he goes back to the US already when he could have been a Fulham legend. Its hard to take pleasure in the downfall (if thats what this is) of such an important player in our history.

He was our longest serving player and left in a storm of controversy. So I am never shocked when his name comes up in relation to transfers even if they prove false we end up debating things again. He was an important player at the time for a long time.

As always you are a beacon of light.
Still, l really would like to know what actually  happened so that the testosterone driven comments would  be proven correct or more likely, disproven.
