,sorry scratch this is just the old don't slag a yank player nonsense again
[/quote]

No...this is me...knowing that Eddie is a confidence player and by slagging him like most do...it does us all no good...get behind the guy...

He is constantly the victim of second hand accounts... the truth is he is a decent footballer with much better control than people give him credit for...he is finally starting to understand striker movement as he was clearly not up for that in the early stages at Fulham which is why he was sent on loan... TO IMPROVE...
Just score 3+ goals a game and we will gain promotion...I promise

Better off with Billy the Badger upfront. I said in 2008 after watching him fall all over the place and constantly live in an offside position, he will never score in the prem. Nearly 3 years later, I am still correct.

If he is so wonderful, why hasn't he got a new contract then?

Last season for him and thank the Good Lord for that. I am not a big fan of the Jari Litmanen school of Fulham unemployement benefit assistance.

How's the badger's fitness, finn?  Is he over that TB scare?

How many minutes did it take Bobby until he was a regular scorer? You say that but in truth EJ has not been given much chance with the first team...Hughes must think he is better than the Finn...Finn..?

In case you have missed it, Hughes has an empty dressing room at the moment Mr McScratch. Beggars can't be choosers you know.

2 goals on 30 appearances by a striker in the Championship would indicated to me he would do well in League Two or even better, go back to MLS so I can go and watch the bugger make a fool of himself against the NY Red Bulls. Now, that I would pay for.

That is only because his wallet is a lot lighter now so dropping his wallet has not put him on the injury list anymore.

The funny part about this post is just how blindly incorrect you are.

It screams oMg EdDiE jOhNsOn Is MeH fAv PlAyEr.

Couldnt score in the championship, and while I do believe he will score in the Premiership, I think that is because he will be on the end of some hard work by the rest of the boys.

All EJ has is his pace, but when you get outpaced by Samba? Time to find a day job.

mccscratch

All EJ has is pace, blah, blah blah.... 12 goals for the US... 5 headers... only 2 on breakaways and the rest of the AJ poacher variety.... The kid scores goals in bunches when he is confident... perhaps if we tried to spread a little sunshine his way he will be confident...

Eddie Johnson's USMNT Goalography (All 12 goals)
Just score 3+ goals a game and we will gain promotion...I promise

Sorry mate but showing footage of EJ from over 4 years ago doesnt really mean that he can cut it in the prem.

Here are the teams he scored against:

El Salvador
Panama
Jamaica
Trinidad + Tobago
Honduras
Guatemala
Barbados

Argentina (Penalty)

Not exactly footballing luminaries eh?

Airfix

Let us review that video.  A goal against El Salvador.  Three against Panama.  One vs. Jamaica.  One against Trinidad.  Another against Honduras.  Two against Guatemala (had to find out where they even are).  Another against Trinidad.  One against Argentina.  One against Barbados.

OK, well, they are not the greatest of opponents, are they?  Of that lot, I am impressed by the name Argentina the most and that was a penalty.

These are not Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, WGDT FC or even Bolton are they.  Really, he has a lot to prove and, speaking as one who watches a lot of Premiership football by actually going to the games, he is not near the quality required yet.

Anyway, even Marlet looked good on YouTube.

If he does the business, great.  I don't think he will.  Won't stop me cheering him in white, though.  I just fear for him.

mccscratch

All in the top 115 minus Barbados... And the penalty against the Argies...he earned himself after being taken down on a breakaway which should have been a red as well...

Trinidad, Jamaica, Honduras... all been to the WC and played respectable matches... I am sure England recall their escape from the same Trinidadian team EJ was scoring against on the clips... :024:

Not to mention that he has improved... I can dig up the Aris goals if you like that he scored this year... hardly poor goals he scored...

Just score 3+ goals a game and we will gain promotion...I promise

For fcuks sake I could score against that shite opposition in the concacaf.

12 goals (most close misses, most tap ins), all against rubbish sides like Honduras, Panama, fcucking El Salvador. One against Argentina, but it was a penalty.

Don't get me wrong, the USA are my 3rd national side to follow, besides Aus and Ghana, but really... Eddie Johnson has proven himself in ONE league. The MLS. If you can outrun the average american and see the ball amongst the NFL end zones then you will probably poach a few goals.

Don't come on here spouting your American crap about your players. You whinge about players being treated differently because they are American, when you do exactly that. You place him on a pedestal coz you saw him do a nice finish against the Denver Dreadhawks or the Albuquerque Aligators or whatever you are calling your teams these days.

The facts are, Eddie Johnson is being payed to score goals for Fulham, and the facts are, he isnt.

Please Eddie, prove Mccscratch right, we would all love for that to happen.

But the way Eddie has played for Fulham (and even Cardiff really), it doesn't look likely.

You say he needs confidence? What more is he getting? Zolly was the European Hero in our Europa run, and Hughes is showing faith in EJ instead. Thats all the confidence you need.

Plus I dont think Eddie would read this forum, he would probably see the thread about him, go to click on it, but miss and end up on a thread about sausages or something.

finnster01

Maybe sunshine is actually the problem.

EJ's 12 goals for the US has come against: Panama 3, Guatemala 2, Trinidad and Tobacco 2, Barbados 1, Honduras 1, Jamaica 1, El Salvador 1 and Argentina 1 (in a 1-4 defeat).

Current FIFA world rankings for that impressive opposition: Panama 70, Guatemala 115, Trinidad and Tobacco 97, Barbados 121, Honduras 52, Jamaica 76, El Salvador 110, Argentina 5.

All places with plenty of sunshine, and not the lovely English climate,  but not much in terms football quality either. i.e. Tells me League two is a decent spot for him to aim. There are some players from some of those countries there.  He did well in Greece, and they have plenty of sunshine. It actually shines in the Aris as well there, hence his success.

PS.... the whole Prem is not Arsenal, Manure, the dark side etc.... lets concern ourselves with Wolves, Blackpool, Blackburn, Stoke etc... first and foremost..

And for the record... I have been to 10+ matches... ease up...

Lets be frank, if my local A League side signed him, Id be stoked.

However in the Premier League? nah.

Mate, Fulham could sign a 50 year old housewife from Southern Alabama and half these "fans" would jump to her defence and show old youtube videos of her 'ballhandling' skills just to prove a point.
