QPR and Fulham's 2016-17 parachute payment amounts confirmed

It is the last season of Fulham receiving additional income from the Premier League after their relegation in 2014, while QPR will have one more season of receiving the funds.

Queens Park Rangers and Fulham have both been greatly assisted following the confirmation of this season's parachute payment amounts.

Parachute payments are designed to bridge the gap in finances between the Premier League and the Championship, by providing relegated teams with a gradually decreasing percentage of Premier League funding over a maximum of three years.

This is to help recently-relegated teams adjust to a less fruitful financial climate in the second-tier of English football.

The money is split between an equal share amount to the relegated sides, and an amount based on overseas television money.

According to the official Premier League website, in the 2016-17 season, QPR were handed £31.1m after being relegated in May 2015 from the Premier League.

This means that QPR will only have one year remaining on parachute payments before they run out.

Fulham will go into next season without the additional payments after failing to get promoted through the play-offs this season.

They received just under £16.3m after being relegated in 2014. This was the same for Reading, Wigan Athletic and Cardiff who received the same amount.

Elsewhere, last season's relegated teams Newcastle, Aston Villa and Norwich City all received £40.9m.

I always thought that the payment only went on for three years. I hate financial fair play. We now need to sell Tom Cairney or get a full price for Sessegnon, just to stand still. We are just another poor Championship club now.

We won't get the full price for Sessegnon unless he signs a deal otherwise it will be set by a tribunal

The caveat to that is if a club is stupid enough to offer us a price knowing he hasn't signed a contract just yet, which I doubt as his new expensive agent will let it be known that he hasnt

Looking at the Premiership gravy train payouts which range from £150 mil to the Blue Poo to £93 mil for Sunderland any one of them has the cash to buy any player they wish. This doesn´t take account of any other income.
What a chance missed by us.

We broke FFP, albeit by a small amount, when we had a large Parachute payment. We don't have the turnover and revenue streams others seem to have in order to make the most of things. Guessing same for qpr, for example policing costs are  a lot higher for a London club than a northern club etc so that negates any advantage to be had if you have a bigger turnover or indeed helps you depending where you're based

Interesting summer ahead I reckon

I wasn't comparing just saying we breached when we had the highest payments

I thought we got 10 million this season

The amended article if you look at it now says £16m this season (16/17) and final payment (presumably about £10m) next season (17/18) which is roughly consistent with my understanding, and Actually I thought you and I had said the same on here recently as well but may be wrong
Your right we did, for some reason I had 10 and 10 in my head

Putting Fulham aside for a moment, I imagine there are some clubs that are in a far more worrying position than us.

Derby, shelf weds, Bristol C, Villa and a few more.

On a separate note, when the hell are apr going to find their fate. How long can this thing take?

Last month, the EFL's arbitration panel said that the sanction would be determined "next month", i.e. some time this month!

But it was also said that it would be last week.

Think villa and any team down win then will be ol as they still get a high parachute payment

This is slightly worrying, to be honest. The last thing we need is to be in financial difficulty, just look what it did to Portsmouth, Coventry etc.

As I read the article on QPR v EFL the arbitration was set to begin last month but there is no confirmation it has even started.

Well the bottom line is that it seems unlikely that we will get no more than a couple of million for Sessegnon therefore if we are going to spend big on that new striker we could be lured into selling Cairney. I just hope we can hold on the Cairney, he is central to our play, and maybe get hold of a good striker on a loan deal.

Sorry I have a nasty double negative in there, I meant to say that it seems unlikely that we will get more than a couple of million for Sessegnon.
