How much would you be happy with us spending this summer?

Selling Jozabed for 4.5 Mil and Malone for 3.5 mil brings in 8 mil. As well as taking Scott Parker off the wage bill We outlayed .8 mil for Djalo so how come we are not spending big and looking in the bargain bin for players like Cameron Jerome. If a fee of a couple of million stops us from getting our targets, such as Rolan maybe there is something in the Joka story. We should spend at least 15 mil this window I think

Hull City make improved bid for Cardiff striker Kenneth Zohore, according to Sky sources.

Thats a shame, I thought he was brilliant against us, and wouldnt have minded us going for him

Sorry to disappoint, but, we will NOT be heavily investing this summer. The bulk of our spend will be tying down Cairney and Sess, possibly bringing in Kalas (if he comes) but, you'll find most of our business will be around the Djalo type level, or loans. If you're expecting the Club to spend 20M, forget it.

the money for Jozabad is in euros and two who knows who we are looking at as well as the recently speculated Jerome.

The last few years we have been very coy on who we target and how much is leaked out in the press. if speculation is right then Jerome isnt a bad signing as a plan b and that maybe (if it is true) what the club are thinking

Zohore tops my list of realistic striker targets. Would be very disappointing if he ends up at Hull instead of here.

Zouma  wants London loan

The idea that a player like this is being touted as a loan just goes to show how screwed-up our game has become.
The only dispute seems to be whether he goes to France (manager's preference) or 'another London club' (player's preference).
He would walk into most PL teams and, despite his recent ACL injury, would be an enormous short-term asset to wherever he might go. As I see it (presumably Chelsea would take care of a percentage of his salary) the only drawback would be that he would be a dead-end for the loanee club. Unlike Kalas there would be no chance of affording him full time.
Let's get Kalas over the line.

...Unless this means that Chelsea are going to keep Kalas. With Terry gone they must be down to their last half-dozen CBs.

Mince n Tatties

I've got a feeling in my water, that we are going to go back in with an offer for Chris Martin.
Nothing surprises me anymore with our club.

my word. if we paid £3m for him i'd say we'd overpaid. this tells me that notwithstanding the weak pound, we absolutely must do our striker shopping in europe rather than the ridiculously inflated championship market
my thoughts too base don the rumoured fee wanted. Can't believe that would be true even if it was some now and rest in add ons it is a huge fee. 5 million tops for me

But why would we listen to you? You are one of the front runners to be downbeat voice of FOF. I just don't understand why you would post this?
Do you have inside knowledge? I somehow doubt it. Fair enough if its your opinion but it is just that. It is not a statement of FACT but you make it sound like its a statement from the club.

I accept that I should probably just ignore negative posts that wind me up. I will try

How can anyone say categorically that we won't spend big? The bulk of our spend on Cairney and Sess? As Sess' first contract I'm sure it doesn't break the bank and is affordable yet awards Sess a healthy wage, and for all intents, Cairneys contract was reported as a contract extension, not a new contract. If there's a rise there then surely Parker, Tunnicliffe and Jozabeds wages can pay for it in relation to last years wages

Just saying something negative doesn't make it more believable when you back it up with flawed logic.  There are plenty of options available this summer, and it's still 5th July, have as many opinions as you want but don't try to passs them on as fact. That's what the Sun and Mirror are for

Wasn't Parker on like £35k a week as well? He was one of our highest earners.

Alluded to this in previous thread but with parachute money available at end of season, selling big name players like Maguire and Robertson maybe and getting rid of high earners like Davies and Maloney, it's not a question to Cardiff of how much Zohore is worth, it's a question of how trigger happy, desperate and eager Hull would be to buy, and therefore vastly increase the asking price . New manager / first impression/ bounceback

agree 100% but if someone is willing to pay it they wont take less form anyone else in the same window, doesnt make sense. BUt your logic is what i agree with

Because, I know otherwise, and, expect he majority of our new signings to be foreign. The Club, like it or not, has a policy in place, and that policy, is to deploy scouts Europe wide, and pick up gems, based on statistics. If you think we're going to go and spend 10M outright on a player, and make the headlines, then you're seriously going to be disappointed.

Also, 'self sustainable' football, quoted by the Khans, means that we will sell, every season, an asset, or assets, close to that 10M mark, to fund the first team.

12 million pounds is a lot of money for a player who has been good for half a season.

AlexW132

Also I can see Jerome being very similar to Chris Martin

Patrick Roberts, Nathan Ake, Aaron Mooy, Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, Christian Atsu, Jonathan Kodjia, Scott Hogan

All bought for silly money by silly clubs on the basis of one of 2 good years

It's the going rate and a growing trend
