Can someone explain this to me...?

When I enter negotiations at work... I sit with the prospective client and we go back and forth to thrash it out.

Why don't clubs do that? If we did bid 15 mill yesterday, why are we only upping it now? Surley if we sat down with Newcastle and said 15 mill.. then they can argue their case and so forth, things would get done and we wouldnt have to miss out come 11pm.

Genuine question..?

I was thinking the same, but about the Brexit negotiations

I think they'd be there for a few years if they did that!

Yes let's get David Davis in.

He'll promise us Dwight Gayle, Fernando Forestieri and Jota, with us receiving £20m from the respective clubs to boot. Then the window will close, we'll have no such thing and he'll claim that no players was the better option anyway. Oh and we ended up paying £20m as well.

From Sky Sports

TWO FULHAM DEALS IN THE WORKS
Sky sources understand Fulham are working on two deals ahead of the deadline.
They are trying to sign Yohan Mollo after he had his contract at Zenit St Petersburg cancelled by mutual consent.
They also want Jordan Graham on loan from Wolves but face competition from Leicester.

Graham has potential and is obviously short  term cover for piazon.

Mollo is truly underwhelming hardly set the worlf alight in Russia been released and we sign him  fp.gif

Piazon wasn't rated by Reading fans, he just needed the right coach and players around him. He enjoys his football now and his play has apparently lifted. Mollo had good reviews prior to Zenit, perhaps he'd respond the same way?
Exactly, also if he does sign please can we all support him and not immediately dismiss him
It's called exasperation at being linked with talented players and then ending up with make do's

Piazon was highly rated at Chelsea, some Reading fans didn't think much of him but some did. Difference between the two is that Piazon was playing first team football in a competitive league, some may say more competitive and a better standard than the Russian league ( not saying I am one of those but some would)

Also out last signing from the Russian league didn't fair so well, hopefully he does better but I am reserving full Judgement and happy to stick with my exasperation
Every day is a Fulham day

Mollo looks hard working and decent. He was sent to the reserves at zenit because he showed the finger to some fans who were screaming homophobic comments at him. He's both footed, skillful, and has a good cross. We have a lot of French based players here and I think he could very well get on in this environment. I'm not saying he'd set the world alight but I think he'd match aluko plus he's free which leaves us room for other signings if we're in for them. Zero risk for real potential.

hovewhite

I am surprised we are offering this sort of money for Gayle, jota and co,as its not very often these signings havwent produced anywhere near enough(Ruiz)comes to mind as stated on this very board.sometimes the free transfers seem to offer more use to the team on and off the pitch.
It won't stop me thinking we have had a good window we have kept sees and TC also.Tsquad is stronger and feel we will be up end of the season.

Good post. I know nothing of the player so will wait to see him play a number of times before I make a full judgement.

I have messaged you, but wasn't sure if it was actually sent or not.  Hopefully it has, and if it hasn't, I wasn't ignoring you and will get back to you tomorrow.

Let's get Keir Starmer in, put our transfer decisions in the hands of someone at Brentford and fill our team with 14 free signings from the Polish third tier

Fair point, normally in a negotiation there are just two sides but if one side has other options (as here) they need to go away and evaluate those.

The Brexit negotiations are fascinating. The EU have to satisfy all 27 and have a rigid agenda; they're getting frustrated by our team's tactics. We only have to satisfy ourselves and are teasing out all the options before making any commitment. That's the very best way to deal with a rigid approach. Our team are coming in for some stick but I take my hat off to them, I really do. And I voted the other way.

We've still got 5 hours ten minutes. Just enough time to drive from the Toon to Motspur Park

Yeah, there has to be something to do with falling out with the fans or the board if he leaves within half a year. Zenith has a pretty rank fanbase.

He did fairly well in Russia until then though, had five goals in half a season when they bought him.

think we will walk away with no deal personally. EU can't afford to budge, and neither will we

Jota still hasn't signed for Brum. Maybe he's had a medical with us yesterday and weighing up his options? I realise this is a hopeful reach but not seen any news since 9am on that one.

I think there'll be a deal but Barnier will be dragged kicking and screaming to the wire. Their rigidity is playing against them and we've got a stronger position than I ever thought we had. It was a risky decision to take but our side seem to be going about it the right way. And, as for taking the negotiating position to Parliament first - I ask you!
