How much personal abuse is permissible on here?

I joined this board due to the more reasoned & controlled debate I used to read while posting on TIFF.  TIFF's unregulated posting meant really decent & entertaining posts were removed due to single unacceptable replies.

Now I read how a young striker is the worst player ever, a former striker is a pie eater & Aluko left to line his pockets (I'd have done exactly the same).

I appreciate being critical seems to be so acceptable these days but why do we accept this personal abuse?  Would posters say these things to their face?

My first hero, John Lacy, would be crusified in the modern game due to his height & occasional mistakes.  Where does this end?

We look at the abuse of some young players and think it is unusual. Well it the old days we didn't have the Interweb thing to hide behind. But I remember plenty of abuse being hurled at players. Remember Robert Wilson coming on as Sub at the Cottage after his near death gassing. The away supporters chanted the advert for Gas 'That's the beauty of Gas.' I think we have a slightly blinkered view of how deeply unpleasant some fans have always been. The Interweb has just let them hide behind a screen.

As players now are paid huge amounts, we as fans feel less part of the club and more like kids looking in from the outside of a sweetie shop. You say you would have done the same as Aluko. Well I wouldn't if I was playing every game and was enjoying being at the club. Which is why Haynes will always be a legend. The club did everything to keep him here but he could have gone anywhere for more money.

We attack politicians and abuse actors and have our tribes that we cling too and attack the others. I saw a Tweet by an actor attacking a tweeter for making a comment that was not abusive but held a view. They don't like it up em.

FOF is a very sedate forum and long may it continue. Criticism is one thing. Debate is another. But rarely have I seen abuse that crosses the line. When it does it is stopped.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Unassailable logic and eloquence Lighthouse.

Personally would like to see the thread re Ojo squashed though.
Very talented Under 21 international learning his trade and some fat berk who has never played can start a thread like that.

Apologies rant over
The atmosphere's fresh and the debate lively.

I have asked for the Ojo thread to be delete in the original thread.

If you have any issues with a post, or feel that it may break any rules, then there is an option within that post, to 'report' it to the moderators. Once received, we'll then look into it.

Please use this option, rather than starting a fresh post in the forum, bringing it to the attention of everyone else.

Biggest complaint lately, is pulling posts, just because 1 or 2 don't agree with the content, or opion, which in turn, kills debate.

Granted, a few of the opinions on Ojo may not be to everyone's taste, but it's not the worst post that everyone is making it out to be.

If you don't agree, then please pass it on by.
