Next Chelsea manager: Fans react angrily as Blues reportedly open talks with Slavisa Jokanovic

Chelsea news takes a look a fan reaction to reports Slavisa Jokanovic has reportedly entered talks about replacing Antonio Conte

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic has reportedly entered talks about becoming Chelsea's next manager.

The former Blues player has done a fantastic job at Craven Cottage and guided the club back into the Premier League for the first time since 2014 with victory over Aston Villa in the Championship play-off final at Wembley Stadium last month thanks to Tom Cairney's first-half strike.

And his accomplishment hasn't gone unnoticed.

The Cottagers' west London rivals are set for yet another managerial change this summer with Antonio Conte expected to be making way Jokanovic's name has been linked as a possible replacement.

Prior to the play-off clash, the 49-year-old played down speculation of a move to Stamford Bridge: "I have enough of an important job with this moment to think about this kind of situation," he said. "It is my only commitment and I am only thinking about the final and I don't have time to be thinking about different things."

However, according to Goal, the former Blues midfielder is now in talks over a surprise return.

It's understood that Chelsea have turned their attentions to the Fulham boss after talks with Maurizio Sarri broke down due to contractual issues with Napoli.

The Italian tactician departed the Stadio San Paolo at the end of the 2017-18 season - and has since been replaced by Carlo Ancelotti - but is still tied contractually to the Serie A runners-up.

Furthermore, the report states that the Jokanovic is one of the leading candidates to replace Conte, with former Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc having also entered preliminary talks.

As expected this news has garnered a strong reaction from fans on social media.

Norwood seeks permanent Fulham stay
by Dan on June 5, 2018

Oliver Norwood wants to stay at Fulham on a permanent basis after helping the Whites secure promotion to the Premier League during his successful loan spell.

The Northern Ireland international, who had previously helped Brighton and Hove Albion reach the top flight, is eager to remain with Slavisa Jokanovic's side following their Wembley win over Aston Villa in the Championship play-off final. Fulham could well be keen to sign Norwood outright as well, having made an approach to sign the former Manchester United midfielder on a permanent basis back in January. That enquiry was rebuffed by Albion as they were yet to secure their Premier League safety, but Chris Hughton could be willing to entertain offers over the course of the summer.

The 27 year old, who made 41 appearances for Jokanovic's side including coming on as a substitute as ten-man Fulham clung onto the lead given to them by Tom Cairney in the play-off final, told Football.London that he's keen to stay at Craven Cottage:

That's the plan. Hopefully, it can get sorted as soon as possible, I'll be patient but hopefully we can get it done. It's a squad game, but to get promoted twice in two seasons I must be doing something right. To be honest, this is the best side I've played in by quite a long way.

The possibility of a deal being reached may hinge on Brighton's valuation of their midfielder and whether Fulham, who have been linked with an ambitious move for Arsenal's Jack Wilshere, have other targets in mind now that they are planning for life in the top flight. Norwood's versatility – having deputised for Kevin McDonald, Stefan Johansen and Cairney during the course of the season – and his range of passing could make him a useful addition at the right price.

Good for Fulham: David Luiz is influencing Roman Abramovich on Chelsea's next manager pick

Who will be Chelsea's next manager?

The starting point has to be that Antonio Conte is still Chelsea's manager.

Moreover Conte has a contract with Chelsea until 2019. While the Italian has undoubtedly been a success at Stamford Bridge.

In his first season, Conte lead Chelsea to the Premier League title. Last season saw Chelsea slide down the table, but they still beat Man United in the FA Cup final.

Nevertheless it's widely believed that Conte will not be Chelsea's manager at the start of the season. Even though it remains unclear where Conte will be next season, and whether Chelsea will pay him off.

Fulham's Slavisa Jokanovic

Many names have been linked with the Chelsea job.

Maurizio Sarri had seemed set for the job, but those rumours have died down considerably in recent days.

This week on French radio station RMC, former Chelsea defender Frank Lebouf game his updates on what he's hearing about Chelsea's manager search.

Lebouf linked Chelsea with Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic. Fulham are Chelsea's closest rivals, while Fulham won promotion to the Premier League via the playoffs just weeks ago.

Jokanovic, of course, is a former Chelsea player. He spent two years at Chelsea in 2000 and 2001, making 53 appearances.

David Luiz is influencing Roman Abramovich

Yet Lebouf didn't really champion the narrative that Jokanovic will leave Fulham for Chelsea.

Instead Lebouf highlighted his understanding that David Luiz is influencing Roman Abramovich on Chelsea's next manager pick.

Luiz, a former PSG defender, hopes that Laurent Blanc will get the job in west London.

Blanc has experience of playing in the Premier League from his days at Manchester United.

Fulham players and manager rated for the promotion winning 2017/18 season

We've rated all the Fulham players on the back of their promotion winning season to the Premier League

2017/18 is a season that will live long in the memory of Fulham fans as the club achieved promotion back to the Premier League after victory at Wembley in the play-off final.

It was some season for Slavisa Jokanovic's side, who hauled themselves from 17th in November to challenge for the automatic promotion spots and eventually beat Aston Villa 1-0 at Wembley to secure promotion.

Fulham took a while to find their feet in the Championship, not winning a game until the end of August when goals from Neeskens Kebano and Rui Fonte - his first in white - ensured they took all three points.

Only one loss in the next seven followed, but Fulham went six games without a win, including a winless October, to find themselves in 17th position after the 1-1 draw with Derby County on November 18.

But only two defeats in the next 28 games, a run that included 23 unbeaten games, saw the side challenge Cardiff City for the second automatic promotion spot, eventually missing out following a final day defeat to Birmingham City at St Andrew's.

A 2-1 aggregate win over Derby saw the side into the play-off final, where a 1-0 victory thanks to a single Tom Cairney goal saw scenes of jubilation as Fulham ensured promotion back to the Premier League after four years.

But how did the players perform during that memorable season?

Have a look through all the players that played a part in Fulham's promotion season to see how they scored out of 10 for the campaign, including head coach Jokanovic.

Marcus Bettinelli - 8

After injury in pre-season, Bettinelli won his place back in Fulham's goal mouth in December, with Jokanovic recalling him for the 1-0 victory over Birmingham City.

But since then Fulham never looked back, with Bettinelli gaining more and more confidence as the season progressed, really coming into his own as the number one.

Personally, I didn't think there was much to choose between David Button and Bettinelli, but nearly 50 games later I think Bettinelli has really proved himself as Fulham's best keeper and deserves his chance in the Premier League

(Image: Catherine Ivill/Getty Images)

David Button - 6

After being dropped at the business end of the previous campaign, Button seized his chance to reclaim the number one jersey when Bettinelli suffered injury in the pre-season game with Wolfsburg at the end of July.

He only managed to keep three clean sheets in the league before Jokanovic made the choice to drop him for Bettinelli, but I do think he made a number of strong saves and kept his side in games, despite the lack of clean sheets.

Floyd Ayite - 7

Ayite's season was marred with injury for the most part, but his influence out on the right side of Fulham's attack can't go unnoticed in the games he played.

A goal from halfway in the 2-0 victory over Aston Villa was probably the highlight of his campaign, but he was an outlet on the right in the games he managed to play in.

Injury does seem to be a reoccurring theme with Ayite and Fulham will be hopeful that he can keep injury free next season.

Tom Cairney - 9

The skipper suffered a knee injury in pre-season that just didn't seem to want to go away, and it was clear the side missed his influence in the early part of the campaign.

However, when he returned to the starting XI he was the metronome that kept Fulham ticking along during their quest for Premier League football.

His ability on the ball, his eye for a pass and his all round dominance showed why he was sought after in January and why Fulham are a different side with him in the team.

(Image: Clive Mason/Getty Images)

Cyrus Christie - 7

The Irishman was used sparingly after signing from Middlesbrough in January, but the reasons behind his capture were clear to see.

With Ryan Fredericks playing so well, Christie was never going to get as much game time this season but his ability going forward, his crossing and his athleticism will all be huge assets in the Premier League.

His assist for Aleksandar Mitrovic's goal at Bristol City was a particular highlight of his half season at Craven Cottage.

Ibrahima Cisse - 3

After arriving in the summer from Standard Liege, the season didn't quite work out for Cisse.

He made his debut in the season opener against Norwich City but never made the impact on the first team, with Jokanovic opting for the tried and tested trio of Cairney - Stefan Johansen - Kevin McDonald.

Eventually Cisse disappeared from the matchday 18 altogether and was touted for a loan move in January which never materialised.

Luca de la Torre - 6

The US international saw first team action during Fulham's rough patch in the middle of the season and gave a good account of himself in that time.

Clearly, it was a difficult period for the side, but the 20-year-old played well in an advanced midfield role and showed fans why Jokanovic has him training with the senior team.

It'll be hard for him to break into a Premier League Fulham next season, but there is certainly talent there.

Marcelo Djalo - 3

Like Cisse, Djalo came in during the summer as the centre back option but was never really up to the required standard for a top Championship defender.

He soon found himself down the pecking order at the Cottage, with Jokanovic preferring Denis Odoi at centre back, along with Tim Ream and Tomas Kalas.

Tayo Edun - 6

Edun made his senior league debut in the 1-1 draw with Derby back in November and gave a good account of himself, showing once again why Jokanovic had him training with the first team.

He looked confident on the ball in the midfield, despite playing against established Championship players and it's clear to see why he's rated highly at the Cottage.

The season even saw him train with England's senior side during one of the international breaks, which must've been a personal highlight for the youngster.

Rui Fonte - 6

Fonte was Fulham's most expensive signing of the summer but only managed to bag himself three goals.

As the season progressed, it became clear that Fonte wasn't the striker that Fulham needed up top and that he would be better in a deeper position where he could link the play between the midfield and the attack, as opposed to being the out and out striker.

Despite losing his place in the side, he continued to keep up his spirits in the dressing room and was an instrumental member of the side behind the scenes.

Ryan Fredericks - 8

A solid season from Fredericks, who proved himself to be one of the best right backs in the division, gaining a place in Team of the Season for the campaign.

He continued his form from the previous season and was a constant outlet on the right of the pitch, proving himself to be capable going forward and going back.

Fredericks even managed to keep a lid on his temper this campaign, showing a maturity that perhaps wasn't there in previous seasons, meaning he was key to Fulham's success and one of the first names on the team sheet.

Stefan Johansen - 8

Johansen had a slow start to the campaign and didn't hit top form until halfway through the season, but he did lead the club's scoring charts for a time, finishing the season with eight goals and nine assists.

He was key to Fulham's midfield trio, bridging the attack and defence as the box-to-box midfielder, and despite some poorer performance, including time spent as a false nine, it was a good season for the Norway skipper.

Tomas Kalas - 7

Kalas returned to the club in the summer and immediately picked up where he left off, continuing his partnership with Ream in the heart of defence.

He had a good season, despite being overshadowed by Ream's phenomenal performances, and clearly put a lot of effort and time in the gym, bulking up physically to cope with the demands of marking physical Championship defenders.

Kalas lost his place in the side to Denis Odoi after injury and couldn't remove the Belgian from the centre half slot, but his performances when he came on as a sub were of the same mould as his early campaign.

Aboubakar Kamara - 7

Despite looking like he might not be able to live up to the demands of the Championship early on his Fulham career, Kamara has come on leaps and bounds and is the most improved player for me.

He's probably the success story of the summer recruits and found a home out on the wing, as opposed to being a striker like he was originally signed for.

Still a young man, he's got a lot of learning to do but his pace and ability is clear to see - it'll be interesting to see how he develops next season but the future does look bright for the Frenchman.

Neeskens Kebano - 6

Despite playing in a lot of the early season games, Kebano seemed to fall out of favour as the campaign progressed, not even making the matchday squad towards the end.

He did well in the games he played, but it wasn't the season that the DR Congo man would've wanted to have after doing so well in his debut season the campaign before.

He made an impact off the bench in the appearances he made, but didn't have as much influence as other players.

(Image: Paul Burgman)

Michael Madl - 3

Madl left the club in January and only made two appearances all season, with both of those in the League Cup.

He wasn't part of the club's plans but still supported the players in the dressing room.

Kevin McDonald - 9

Another strong campaign from the Scotsman, who finally got international recognition from his country.

His performances in front of the back four went a long way in ensuring Fulham were a much stronger defensive unit this season and it was probably one of McDonald's best seasons to date.

(Image: Adam Davy/PA Wire)

McDonald's leadership qualities were also vital in getting Fulham to the Premier League, something which was acknowledged by captain Cairney by allowing McDonald to lift the play-off trophy with him.

Aleksandar Mitrovic - 9

It's hard to argue against giving the loan man such a high score, despite him only being at Craven Cottage for half a season.

Since signing in January, he scored 12 goals for Fulham which helped fire the side to the play-offs and the Premier League, something which, without him, might not have happened.

He added a focal point to the Fulham attack that was badly needed and what's more, he managed to keep his discipline for Jokanovic, which was a huge positive for the side.

(Image: Catherine Ivill/Getty Images)

Yohan Mollo - 3

Mollo's attitude meant that he never had much of an impact at Fulham having signed in the summer, before being allowed to leave in January.

He certainly had ability on the ball, but he wasn't quite up to the standard required for a top Championship side.

Oliver Norwood - 7

Norwood proved himself to be a handy player for Fulham after signing on loan from Brighton in the summer.

He seemed to be a hybrid of McDonald and Cairney, possessing the skipper's passing abilities while also being able to hold in front of the back four and put in a tackle.

Despite not making as many appearances when Cairney returned, he was an ever-present for Jokanovic and played his role as a squad player well.

Denis Odoi - 7

Odoi, to everyone's surprise, established himself as part of Fulham's go-to centre back pairing and didn't look out of place, putting in a number of solid performances.

Despite being one of the smallest men in the side, his ability in the air was one of his strongest assets and he never looked like getting beaten, even by the bigger strikers in the league.

He got sent off at Wembley, but luckily Fulham still managed to pull through to reach the Premier League.

Sheyi Ojo - 5

Ojo started his loan spell well but never really seemed to win over the fans.

The ability he has is clear for everyone to see, but an injury in the middle of the season seemed to hamper his progression at Fulham, and with the arrival of Mitrovic in January, Ojo started to become the one loan man that had to miss out of the squad.

He didn't end the campaign in the best of form, but there is no doubting he has the potential to be a good player.

Matt O'Riley - 6

O'Riley made his debut in the EFL Cup against Wycombe Wanderers, and then played again at the Cottage against Bristol Rovers.

He is highly rated at Fulham and his performances in those two games, at the age of 16, showed exactly why - he was comfortable in possession and had an eye for a pass.

He was given his first pro deal on his 17th birthday, and despite suffering a bad injury midway through the season, the future is bright for O'Riley.

Lucas Piazon - 7

Piazon started the season well but suffered a nasty leg break in August, meaning he missed a large chunk of the campaign.

However, he recovered quicker than expected and Jokanovic used him frequently out on the right of the attack, using his ability on the ball and ability to allow others into play to good extent.

Piazon didn't really hold down the right wing spot and his performances probably dropped a bit as the season started to wind down, but it was still a good campaign from the Brazilian.

Tim Ream - 9

My player of the season, without a doubt.

Ream was a colossus in the heart of the defence and put in solid performance after solid performance for Fulham in what was probably his best ever season.

He was controlling in possession and dominant in the tackle and air, and it's clear that his performances in the heart of defence went a long way in making sure Fulham were a stronger defensive unit this season.

(Image: Nigel French/PA Wire)

Ryan Sessegnon - 9

What a season the wonderkid enjoyed - Fulham's top scorer with 16 goals this season (including the play-offs) and one of the most influential players in the side.

His ability to read the game is far beyond his tender 18 years of age, while he's never looked out of place all campaign in a league that contained experienced professionals.

What's more is his conditioning - Sessegnon coped with the demands of regular Championship football extremely well, which went a long way to his fantastic season.

(Image: Clive Mason/Getty Images)

Steven Sessegnon - 6

Steven made his debut for Fulham in the EFL Cup and performed well in both games.

He made the bench for the side in the Championship this season too and regularly trained with the first team alongside the other Academy graduates, while he captained the U18s in the FA Youth Cup this year.

Not quite the season his twin had for obvious reasons, but another one with a bright future.

Matt Targett - 8

Came in during January and looked like he'd been at Fulham for years - Targett's performances at left back were nothing short of outstanding.

A trouble spot for half the campaign, Targett made the left back spot his own and was more than capable of doing what Jokanovic wants his full backs to do - get up and down the flanks all game long.

Strong in the tackle, comfortable on the ball and able to put in a decent cross, Targett's acquisition was a key reason in the side's form in the second half of the season.

Slavisa Jokanovic - 8

The mastermind behind Fulham's promotion on the pitch - Jokanovic didn't let the early season form get to him or the side and he managed to turn things round to take them 23 unbeaten.

His coolness rubbed off on his players who didn't seem to let the pressure get to them, producing on the most important stage of all.

And now Jokanovic will finally get the chance to test himself in the Premier League.

Strengthening Season – The Goalkeeper Edition
by Lydia on June 5, 2018

Preparing for a season in the Championship is very different from preparing for a season in the Premier League. It's a task that Shahid and Tony Khan will have to think very hard about as well as being willing to perhaps loosen the purse strings to ensure that they give Fulham the best chance possible to stay up. It's difficult to watch a player who has perhaps been pivotal in Fulham's promotion season get cast aside for a campaign in the Premier League, but it's obvious that no promoted team could survive the PL without strengthening. I've decided to have a look at Fulham's squad as it is now and assess what players should be given a chance in the top English League and who perhaps should now be looking at other clubs to continue their career. Football is a harsh world at times, and it doesn't get harsher than this really, but it Fulham want to survive next season then a number of changes will have to be made. My first article will centre around the man between the sticks- the goalkeeper.

I'll start off by looking at the senior players who we currently have on our books- Marcus Bettinelli, David Button and Marek Rodak. Most of the stats below are from www.transfermarkt.co.uk while the average goals conceded per game was just my own calculation.

It's quite easy to see why David Button was dropped in favour of Marcus Bettinelli in December and a lot has already been made of Fulham's upturn in fortune since then. There were other factors of course, such as the addition of both Matt Targett and Aleksander Mitrovic and the form of Denis Odoi over Tomas Kalas in defence, but there is no doubt that Bettinelli was a significant factor in our promotion. I do have to praise Button, though, as his attitude since being dropped was positive and some of the celebrations between him and Betts after the Derby playoff and then at Wembley show us a little glimpse of the goalkeeper union at Fulham. Never underestimate how crucial it is as a goalkeeper to have that. However, Button isn't a Premier League keeper and it's time to let him go.

Rodak has had a really positive loan at Rotherham and now has his own slice of Wembley success after winning the League One playoff final the day after Fulham's victory. At 21, he still has a lot of development ahead of him so I think the club should, and most likely will, keep him but loan him out again. A Championship club would be a good destination as it will allow a step up in pressure which will help him continue to grow. If you haven't had a chance to see him in action yet then rest assured that we have a goalkeeper of real quality there, and a few years down the line he could be pushing for the number one jersey at Craven Cottage.

The real question, however, is whether we replace Button with someone who will be back up to Bettinelli or someone to replace him as number one. Bettinelli has been at Fulham since the age of 10, and has had England U21 experience as well as catching the eye of neighbours Chelsea. 14 clean sheets in 29 appearances this season is a very good statistic, as is having only conceded 20 goals altogether. But is it enough for him to remain as number one? My heart says yes, but my head is undecided.

Last season Brighton, Huddersfield and Newcastle all made goalkeeper changes. David Stockdale, who Fulham already know so well, moved away from the Amex to Birmingham, while Danny Ward, on loan at Huddersfield from Liverpool, returned to his parent club rather than stay with the Terriers for the PL. Newcastle didn't bring another goalkeeper in at first, but changed their first choice from Karl Darlow to Rob Elliott. However, this didn't work out very well at all, and they ended up bringing in Martin Dúbravka on loan in January to finish the season for them. He has now signed with them permanently.

No matter what, Fulham should be looking to bring in another goalkeeper to replace Button and, while I think that while Bettinelli should be our starter in August, whoever we bring in needs to be able to put the pressure on him. Bettinelli has won the jersey from Button, but it remains to be seen whether he can keep it ahead of a Premier League goalkeeper. I do believe that he deserves the chance to try though.

So far, I haven't seen any legitimate transfer rumours regarding goalkeepers so I have no names to throw at you for now, but I expect at least one addition there throughout the summer.

Report: Fulham join race to sign Norwich City's James Maddison

Fulham could sneak in to snare the Norwich City midfielder ahead of several top clubs.

Fulham have joined the race to sign Norwich City midfielder James Maddison, according to the Daily Mirror (liveblog entry 12:04).

Maddison scored 14 goals and set up eight in his breakthrough season at Norwich, who it is claimed are set to cash in after coming to the end of their Premier League parachute payments.

The England Under-21 international is said to have attracted interest from top four clubs Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, however they have yet to firm up their interest, according to the Daily Mirror.

And the report adds that a door has now opened for 'lesser top-flight outfits like Fulham and Southampton' to seize on Maddison, who is likely leave Norwich for a fee ranging from £20million-£25million

Landing Maddison would leave Fulham in excellent shape, not only to survive their first season back in the Premier League, but establish themselves in the top-flight in future.

Fulham's squad already contains the teenage sensation Ryan Sessegnon, and talented twenty-somethings Tom Cairney and Marcus Bettinelli.

Fulham mull Maddison move
by Dan on June 5, 2018

Fulham are among a host of clubs competing to sign Norwich City midfielder James Maddison, according to a Daily Mirror report this afternoon.

The Premier League new boys are eager to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign and Maddison, who starred for the Canaries during his Championship breakthrough season this year, is reportedly on Slavisa Jokanovic's radar. Fulham will face stiff competition for the England under-21 international's signature with a number of top flights sides, including Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City, have been linked with a move for Maddison over the past year.

The 21 year-old Maddison scored fourteen goals and contributed eight assists for the Carrow Road side this term as they finished fourteen in the Championship and firmly established himself as one of the divison's most promising young talents. The Mirror suggests that Norwich could be keen to cash in on Maddison as the club's four-year Premier League parachute payments have now come to an end. Maddison, who five goals in 35 appearances for Coventry between 2013 and 2016, won't come cheap, however, with Norwich reportedly valuing their young prospect at between £20 and £25m. The paper claims that with a number of long-term admirers not tabling a firm offer for Maddison, the likes of Fulham and Southampton may be in a strong position to secure his services this summer.

Norwich's aim may well be to begin a bidding war between some of the Premier League's leading lights in the hope of receiving a big offer for Maddison, who has won three under-21 caps for England. Fulham and Jokanovic are known to be keen to recruit creative midfielders to provide serious competition for captain Tom Cairney, who battled a serious knee injury for much of last season.

Fulham in talks to sign Turkish defender?
by Dan on June 5, 2018

Fulham have offered Besiktas around £3.9m in a bid to sign their Turkish international full back Gökhan Gönül, according to reports from Turkey.

Initial negotiations over the potential transfer of the right back have gone well and Besiktas are open to letting their experienced defender leave as they are close to concluding a deal to sign Ghanaian defender Daniel Opare from Porto. Gonul has been widely regarded as one of the best attacking full-backs in Turkey for the best part of a decade, following his key role in helping Fenerbache reach the quarter finals of the Champions' Leauge for the first time in the history in 2007-08.

Whether Gonul will be considered pivotal enough to Fulham's summer prospects to allow head of football operations Tony Khan to set aside the club's policy of not opting to sign players over the age of 29 remains to be seen. The 33 year-old could be a direct replacement for current right back Ryan Fredericks, who has turned down the club's offer of a new deal, and is expected to sign for West Ham on a free transfer over the coming weeks. Gonul has three Turkish league titles to his name and is reportedly excited by the prospect of moving to England.

Fulham keen on Maddison deal

Norwich City midfielder James Maddison is attracting the interest of newly-promoted Fulham according to the Mirror.

The Cottagers have joined the race for the 21-year-old following their 1-0 victory over Aston Villa in the Championship play-off final last month.

Maddison was the leading light in a disappointing campaign for the Canaries, scoring 14 goals an providing eight assists in the league.

His form has attracted interest from England's elite, with Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool all being linked with the winger.

Having initially set their asking price at £30m, a lack of official approaches has forced the Canaries to lower their expectations and could accept between £20m and £25m for the player.

With the club's parachute payments from the Premier League having come to an end, bosses could be forced to sell to improve cash flow.

Maddison started his career at Coventry City, before moving to Carrow Road in 2016.

Having spent loan spells back at Coventry and north of the border with Aberdeen, Maddison only made his league debut for Norwich in April 2017.

Maddison made his England U21 debut in November of last year and was named in the 2017-18 PFA Championship team of the year.

The player currently has a minor knee ligament injury but is expected to be fit in time for pre-season, whether that be at Norwich or elsewhere remains to be seen.

Fulham target James Maddison, but face Premier League competition for Norwich midfielder

Fulham have become the latest Premier League club to join the race for Norwich's highly-rated midfielder James Maddison.

The south-west London side will be returning to the Premier League for the first time in four years next season, and they want Norwich's player of the year to strengthen their ranks.

However, Fulham face competition from the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City, who are all believed to be keen on Maddison.

The 21-year-old scored 15 goals last season and, with their parachute payments due to end, Norwich look set to cash in on their most valuable player.

The Canaries want £20-25m for Maddison, who has represented England at U21 level.

He is currently recovering from a knee ligament injury suffered on the last day of the season, although he is believed to be ahead of schedule and due to begin running next month.

Freddo To Join West Ham

The Club can confirm that Ryan Fredericks will join West Ham United when his Fulham contract expires at the end of the month.

Fredericks joined the Whites from Bristol City towards the end of the summer transfer window in 2015, making his debut a couple of weeks later as a substitute in a 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers at Craven Cottage.

After helping the Club maintain its Championship status in his first season, the subsequent two campaigns saw him help the team reach the Championship Play-Offs, with his final match coming at Wembley in the 1-0 victory over Aston Villa which confirmed our promotion to the Premier League.

Fredericks departs having made 114 appearances for Fulham during his three seasons with us, and we wish him all the best during his time at West Ham.

Fredericks signs for West Ham
by Dan on June 5, 2018

Manuel Pellegrini has completed his first signing as West Ham manager as it has been confirmed that afternoon that Ryan Fredericks will move across London a free transfer once his Fulham contract expires at the end of the month.

The right back, who became a key figure in Slavisa Jokanovic's free-flowing side, turned down Fulham's offer of a new deal and is reported to be earning around £40,000 a week with West Ham. Fredericks quickly became a popular figure at Craven Cottage having joined from Bristol City for a nominal fee in August 2015 and soon established himself as the club's first-choice right back ahead of Jazz Richards.

His pacey and adventurous play down the right flank was a key weapon as Fulham firstly secured their Championship status under Jokanovic and reached the play-offs in two successive seasons, culminating in their Wembley win over Aston Villa earlier this month. Fredericks made more than 100 senior appearances for the Whites and Jokanovic is known to be considering entering the transfer market to supplement his squad in anticipation of his departure.

Ryan Fredericks: West Ham sign defender from Fulham on four-year deal

Fredericks joins West Ham on a four-year deal

West Ham United have signed defender Ryan Fredericks in a free transfer from Fulham on a four-year deal.

The 25-year-old English right-back helped Fulham win promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs.

Fredericks, whose contract was due to expire on 30 June, is West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini's first signing.

"It's an exciting time for West Ham," said Fredericks. "The club have just brought in a new manager and everyone knows his CV and what he has done."

He added: "It just felt like, for the next step of my career, I would be best suited coming here."

Fredericks was named in the Championship team of the year for 2017-18.

He began his career at Tottenham and had loan spells at Brentford, Millwall and Middlesbrough before joining Bristol City in 2015.

But after less than a month at Ashton Gate he moved to Fulham, where he played 114 games, culminating in a Wembley play-off final win over Aston Villa last month.

Pellegrini has been linked with a move for Paris St-Germain midfielder Javier Pastore this week as he looks to put his mark on a West Ham squad which finished 13th in the Premier League last season, leading to David Moyes leaving the manager's role.

The club's co-owner David Gold has said he expects to spend more money on the squad than in any previous summer.

Pellegrini said: "Ryan has good experience, with more than 150 senior appearances already but, at 25, he is still a young player with his best years ahead of him."

Saints facing intense competition to sign James Maddison

Southampton are facing intense competition in their bid to land Norwich City star James Maddison this summer.

The Saints have been heavily linked with a move for the England Under-21 international in recent months and according to fresh claims from the Mirror, the club are 'long-term admirers' of the player.

Maddison lit up the Championship with Norwich last season and was heavily tipped for a big summer move to a Premier League side this summer.

However, with the player having sustained a long-term knee injury on the final day of the season against Sheffield Wednesday, it seems clubs are reluctant to spend big on the attacking midfielder.

Maddison is Norwich's prized asset, so it comes as no surprise to see the club slap a huge price tag on its head. The Mirror indicate that the Canaries value the playmaker in the region of £25 million.

The youngster will undoubtedly miss the start of next season but as depicted by his exploits with Norwich throughout last season, he has immense potential.

Leicester City are understood to still be leading the chase for Maddison, but Fulham are reportedly now in the race to land the player, with Saints still mentioned as a potential destination.

Why this £90,000-a-week English midfield maestro could be a great signing for Fulham

According to reports, newly-promoted Premier League side Fulham are interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere in the summer.

Wilshere's current deal at Arsenal runs out at the end of this month, meaning he would be available on a free transfer in July. So far, the 26-year-old has reportedly rejected a new three-year deal from the Gunners. He currently earns £90,000-a-week.

While Tom Cairney, Kevin McDonald and Stefan Johansen have performed very well for Fulham in the Championship, the club would need a couple of proven Premier League materials to drive them forward. So, signing Arsenal midfielder Wilshere makes sense for Fulham.

Wilshere has suffered several injuries in the past few years that have derailed his career. However, he proved his fitness this past season and made a valuable contribution to the Gunners. When fit, the 26-year-old is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. His ability on the ball coupled with his energy and vision would add so much to the Fulham team.

The England international is tenacious, gritty and a player who is always willing to play the beautiful passes. However, Wilshere can also keep things simple whenever required but creativity remains his main forte. A gifted passer and with the capability of creating things out of nothing, the Arsenal man is a forward-thinking midfielder who would suit Jokanovic's style of play at Fulham.

Jokanovic has made Fulham play an attacking brand of football that is pleasing on the eye. He is flexible with his tactics and in just a couple of years with Fulham, the Serbian has transformed them from relegation candidates in the Championship to a Premier League outfit.

Surely, Fulham could be a surprise package in the top-flight next season. And signing Wilshere on a free transfer would certainly make the Cottagers a side to watch out for in the Premier League next season.

3 Reasons why Jokanovic must splash £20m to bring this hotshot goalscorer to Fulham

Fulham are one of the three teams that secured a promotion to the Premier League, the other two being – Cardiff City and Wolverhampton Wanderers. The team finished in the third place and after beating Aston Villa 1-0 in the playoffs final, they have successfully booked a spot for themselves in the English top-flight.

They scored 79 goals – which was the Championship's second-highest tally after Wolves. They owe a part of their success to Serbian international, Aleksandar Mitrovic, as the striker scored 12 goals in the 20 games he played for the Cottagers.

Mitrovic was signed on loan from Newcastle United as he couldn't find his form at St. James' Park. However, the move to Fulham helped him rediscover his strengths and this will boost his morale as he goes into the World Cup.

To increase Fulham's chances of staying in the Premier League for another season, they will need to secure the signing of a striker. Their best bet would be to sign the Serbian on a permanent deal from Newcastle, who are demanding at least £20m for the striker. But why him? Here are three reasons why his signing will help Fulham.

Current Form

The fact that he scored 12 goals from 20 games shows that the striker is in good touch. Over the course of the last few months, Mitrovic got accustomed to Fulham's style of playing and he did adjust pretty quickly. His form will also provide him with the confidence he needs to get back to scoring ways in the Premier League.

Fulham will be aware that Mitrovic's performances could lift the spirits of the team and they will need him in order to survive in the Premier League for a long time.

Playing Style

The Serbian bears a striking resemblance to Atletico Madrid striker, Diego Costa. Like the Spaniard, he is also quite physical and doesn't shy away from challenges. He's adept at bullying defenders and shaking them off.

This type of physicality and playing style will play a key role in the Premier League. His chemistry with the Cottagers also seems to be impressive. Furthermore, Mitrovic's presence could allow Fulham to play him up front as a lone striker with Fonte playing a false nine. By doing so, the duo will be able to make supporting runs and find positions to score goals.

Budget

The Serbian International is unlikely to cost Fulham a great deal of money. It is also a move that will guarantee success as he has already proven himself at Craven Cottage. If Fulham can find the money in their kitty to spend on him, Mitrovic will be a solid long-term investment.

Fulham must ready their ammunition if they are to compete with other teams in the Premier League. The signing of Mitrovic will be a step in the right direction if he continues his excellent form with the Cottagers.

Fulham hike up season ticket prices ahead of Premier League return with fans having to shell out up to £1,150

Newly promoted Fulham have risked angering fans after announcing price hikes
Season tickets have gone up considerably upon return to the Premier League
The dearest Craven Cottage season ticket for anyone under 18 is now £999

Newly promoted Fulham have risked angering fans after announcing huge price hikes for season tickets, with some junior supporters having to pay £650 more than they did last year.

The dearest Craven Cottage season ticket for anyone under 18 is now £999 — up from £349 — while an adult in the Riverside stand will have to pay £1,149, up from £839.

The west London club secured promotion to the Premier League by beating Aston Villa in the Championship play-off final after four years out of the top flight.

Fulham have risked angering fans after announcing huge price hikes for season tickets

In 2017-18, an adult season ticket could be purchased for as low as £299. Now, the cheapest is £549 in the Johnny Haynes family stand. The cheapest junior one is £129 — up from £47.

It remains to be seen whether Fulham will continue to leave a 'clapper' on each supporter's seat as they did last season in the Championship.

A club insider has claimed they sold '99 per cent' of their season tickets when they were available at a lower price before they secured promotion.

Fulham are also waiting to discover if boss Slavisa Jokanovic will commit to a new deal

Meanwhile, Fulham are waiting for Slavisa Jokanovic to return from holiday to discover what it will take to tie their in-demand manager down to a new deal.

The Cottagers are concerned about interest from Chelsea, which was first reported by Sportsmail in March. Jokanovic's current contract only has a year to run.

If Jocanovic went to Chelsea and was sacked at the end of the season I suspect his compensation would exceed his payment for getting us promoted.
Surely he will take any reasonable offer from them.
