Boring game but the best team won. Neither created any real chances from open play; Arsenal's was a defensive error and PSG's was a penalty. However, PSG looked more comfortable in possession than Arsenal did - Arsenal appeared to be fully stretched at times. It's a shame when our great game has been reduced to the level of a chess match with both teams using the Stonewall Defence! Oh for the days of Real Madrid v Eintracht in 1960 when Real won 7-3. I was lucky enough to watch that on a very small black and white TV.

Attacking football (from both sides) from the start. Mesmerising Gento, DiStefano - best in the world at the time and 4 goals from the little fat bloke with the magical left foot.

I watched that game also. Mine was a 9 inch black and white TV.

I can remember Santa Maria, Puskas and Gento.
That was in the days of proper football.
No subs just 11 v 11, the object of the exercise was to score more goals that the opposition. It's that simple.
All eleven players played 90 minutes.
If you broke your leg, they put you up front as nuisance value.
But you got value for money no stoppages for a player rolling on the pitch holding his wallet, no time wasting, no walking football no trying to get opponents booked or sent off by holding an imaginary card.
If you attempted to dive, you were crucified by every man and his dog, it was more or less a crime to attempt to do that.
These days it is like a chess game, too many bishops not enough Knights though.

Agree that the traditional sporting aspect of the game has given way to modern cynical attempts to get opponents booked and sent off. It's a shame what money and greed can achieve.

Premier league touts itself as the best league in the world , best players , highest wages etc . No evidence of that tonight . At times Arsenal had all outfield players lined up on the edge of their box . Premier league champions really should be going toe to toe with any European team

PSG for all their possession had no cutting edge, Arsenal unfortunate not to be awarded a penalty and defended superbly but had difficulty keeping the ball. Harsh on Gabriel who was immense but penalties are a lottery.

Ferenc Puskas, read his book many years ago. Family so poor he learnt his football with a ball made out of rags. One of the best ever.

I will never forget that game as one of the best games ever. Puskas and DiStefano for Real Madrid were unstoppable. That was proper football. 

Puskas scored 4 and Distefano managed just 3.

Very poor watch last night
Arsenal parked the bus, did it brilliantly, but that makes for an awful game and turns it into a lottery.

Even psg couldn't create spaces to exploit so the game was dreadful.

Penalties is no way to decide a tournament that lasted months and I know it's bold fashioned and I know it may be radical.... But replay the game. That is my opinion, penalties devalue the achievement.

This isn't some David/goliath feel good story , this was the champions of the richest league in the world lining up like a cup minnow . It was pretty pathetic . It was the kind of performance you would expect from a minor European league , which would then be rightly praised for resilience .

Very well put.  The praise was ridiculous and the remarks about it being Saka's best ever defensive performance beggared belief.  Because it was Kvaratskelia who was defending brilliantly by being so scary that Saka didn't want to get forwards.

I just watched 'Soccer Aid', and that was much more exciting......... Overweight Rooney & Essien, Lazy Berbatov, Silver haired Van Der Sar, and some celebrities thrown in the mix........

I was thinking the same, I only watched the 2nd half of Soccer Aid, but it was pretty compulsive viewing, SO much more entertaining than the Champions League Final.

The teams were full of such differing characters and levels that it made everything much more watchable, rather than the almost robotic game we saw on Saturday, the 2 celebrity goalies for the 2nd half particularly made it a fun and interesting watch for me
