Marco Silva leaves Fulham

A great shame in my view but it was becoming a seeming inevitable outcome. I will have only positive things to say about him throughout his five years at FFC. I look forward to him returning one day in the future to receive a Forever Fulham award and I fervently hope I am there that day to applaud him.

Was thinking the same - some people ruin their own arguments by having little or no style or grace . There are a few on here that remind me of the loud mouthed kids that ganged up together in the playground.

All good things must come to an end. Marco for me ends at #2 on the FFC all time manager list purely because he never got us into Europe like Roy did. Will miss his passion and fire but not the annual spring implosion he never seemed to be able to avoid. I think change potentially comes at the right time, we had started to go stale this season and unfortunately Marco never quite seemed to have a proper plan B which was a shame. I hope he does well in future and I'm grateful for what he did for the club getting us back to being a comfortable midtable PL team.

I find it interesting that there was no quote from TK on the departure annoucement from the club. Part of me wonders if SK will follow a similar pattern that he had with the Jags and use a change of manager to tweak the playing structure of the club. Doug Pedersen was an experienced Super Bowl winning coach, and he replaced both him & the GM Baalke with Coen & Gladstone because they wanted to do things differently, and also installed a former Jags HOF player into overseeing some of the playing side of operations. I hope SK uses this as a chance to pop in a full-time DOF (which Silva was apparently promised previously) alongside a new manager to push us to the next level.

However, the manner of the ending (from both Marco & the Khan's), the long drawn out saga of the Groundhog Day scenario, both grates & disappoints me hugely.
In time it will be seen as a poor ending to what was a very good career for all parties.
Barcelona are in good shape & have produced reasonable results & end table position - down to Jose.
What will Marco bring to the party?
For us he rebuilt, stabilised, signed experienced older players, improved their performances & gained us mid table stability. He was "helicoptered" in to perform this. He achieved it.
This is his specialism. He isn't a "completer / finisher", that's just not in him. That isn't being critical, just stating what his skills sets are & what he is competent in. Barcelona don't need that they need more.
However, that's not our problem anymore.
We look to the future & someone (who?) can take us to the next level.
So, COYW!! let's hear asap & move forward.

A somber day indeed.  Marco was amazing for FFC and I'm sad to see him go.  Appreciate that he didn't get us into Europe like Roy did, but Marco's teams earned more points that Roy's qualifying team.  It's a different world now, with the rich at the top protected by FFP rules. 

We need to view the next steps as an opportunity.  It's an opportunity for total disaster for sure, but I think Marco took this team about as far as he could.  And that was really good - solidified in the EPL, no real inkling of danger of a drop.  We may wish for that in the years to come.  Or we may look back on the selection of a new manager that, combined with Mr. Khan's willingness to spend (which appears to be growing), took over the baton from Marco and continued building greater success.   What is it Newton said - "IF I have seen so far, it is because I stood on the shoulders of giants"?  That's the goal here - take Marco's success as a foundation and build even more.

He has done a superb job. I have a gripe about some of his FA Cup and League Cup selections, but across the piece, his legacy will be a memory of five excellent years. I did get a feeling across the course of this season that he had lost some of the inner fury which drove him on, and needed either a break or a fresh challenge. An amicable parting may be good both for him and for us.

Yep, I think that famous Marco passion was dissipating and he realised it was time for pastures new. Thanks Marco for 5 wonderful years at the helm of our wonderful football club

Great manager, I agree he's the 2nd best in my lifetime, after Roy. Stabilised us in the Prem and we took a few scalps and broke club records along the way.
But there didn't seem to be a Plan B.

It would be great to host Benfica on a preseason friendly but I guess all those matches have already been arranged

If the usual pre-season tour to Portugal has been arranged there's every likelihood that we'll play Benfica in the Algarve.

The first season in the championship was one of my favourites. Mitro then making fools of international defenders was fantastic. I hope that he does brilliantly at Benfica and that we get to beat his team in the Champions League. Always enjoyed his passion on the sidelines.
