I think it's essential to plan ahead ( one year, but preferably two to three years) to keep a dynamic/healthy football club. Therefore, here are the Fulham contracts that will be ending in 2027:

Leno, 34 years old (with a club option for one more year)
Lecomte, 35 years old

Bassey, 26 years old (with a club option for one more year)
Sessegnon, 26 years old
Castagne, 30 years old
Lukic, 29 years old (with a club option for one more year)
Reed, 31 years old (with a club option for one more year)
Carney, 35 years old

At first glance, we should start considering a new goalkeeper soon, as Leno is not getting any younger. It's vital to retain Bassey and Sessegnon, while I am open to selling Lukic if a reasonable offer comes in. Thank you to Reed and Carney for their contributions.

Let all go other than Bassey and sess for me

Taking the list one by one based on my current assessment (noting that things could change over the coming season):

Leno - release
Lecomte - release
Bassey - extend (and depending where his value is at potentially look to sell next summer)
Sessegnon - offer 1 year extension
Castagne - release
Lukic - release
Reed - release
Cairney - release (with a big thank you)

Ideally would look to sell Castagne this summer if we can get a good quality RB in - his stock won't ever be higher following the WC.

From the limited clips and words coming out of the club over the last couple of weeks I sense (maybe quite wrongly) that Harrison Reed is Arbeloa's kind of player and I would not be at all surprised if Arbeloa sees him as captain - certainly leader - material.  If Marco had not left I think Reed would already be on his way out, but if he has a decent season I think he'll be with us a while longer.

Conversely, I think TC's physical limitations (largely pace) makes him very much not an Arbeloa player and I doubt we'll see much of him at all this season.  Quite happy to be proved wrong!

The Amount of Goalkeepers we have at the Club surely a Keeper will eventually brake through from the U21s or Academy Football.

Castagne has an extension year too.

I'm hopeful the club will get a new contract sorted for Sess once the transfer window closes. Certain players belong at certain clubs. Ryan Sessegnon belongs at Fulham.

Not sure why people want to let Leno go. We would need to spend £20-30m to replace him. He's a top tier goalkeeper absolutely no doubt about it. He'll probably play another 3 years at this level no problem.

The big problem with Leno is he's not dominant at corners etc., Teams with thug centre backs, Arse and Everton give him great problems. Some on here also question his long-range shot stopping ability. I'm twixt and between on Leno but i think we have greater needs this season but a change next summer is probably a necessity.

Leno is adequate. He was only top tier in his first year and has declined every year since. We could definitely upgrade there.

He's been one of, if not the worst, shot stoppers in the PL over the past two seasons. He's comfortably the weak link in our defense. Unfortunately, he's our highest paid player and I don't think we can move on from him this season. But this will almost certainly be his last in a Fulham shirt.

He's a good shot stopper, I completely disagree. He does need to be better on corners and coming for the ball, but he is a decent shot stopper.

None of the relevant stats support that contention.

Reed may well be Arbeloa's type of player, unfortunately he's not at the level required to play in the Premier League. I expect Arbeola will very quickly see that for himself.

TC has qualities that could still see him getting minutes this season. Both will most likely gone this time next year.

When you say "no doubt about it", you are obviously ignoring his stats which cast precisely such doubt on your argument!

Because he's the highest earner at the club, and if we tried to renew his contract then chances are he'd demand more.

Wolf

Releasing Lukic is pretty wild, with a one-year extension in the clubs favour. He's not going to be a top earner and always puts a decent shift in.

I'd expect the club to be open-minded on Leno right now, but we can't afford to have Leno and a genuine #1 challenger.

I hope that Sess sees his playing days out with us.  ::thumb:: I also hope I am still around to see this!!!

I would be extremely surprised if Reed were made captain. Given his technical limitations I'm not sure he really does fit in. Maybe there simply isn't enough interest from other clubs to sell him.

As for Lukic, I think he's underrated but at the same time he's not a natural number 6, he will roam to try winning the ball, whereas Berge will sit on front of the defence.

I'm not ignoring them, stats help paint a picture but I prefer to use the eye test - I watched more or less every game last season and I could see he was a good shot stopper. I also remember how long we struggled to find a good goalkeeper before he joined. Was last season his best, of course not, but since he's been with us his shot stopping and general play has been good and he played a big part in keeping us in the league in that first season. Yes he could command his box better and he could be much better on corners, but he is a solid goalkeeper and having that can make or break an entire season.

Anyhow, this is just my opinion - I think he's going to prove many people wrong this coming season.

Craven Mad

I think Leno seems like a decent bloke, but the stats suggest he's really underperformed for a long time now.

I'm certain we can find better for the money he's on tbh.
