I think that with an out and out poacher starting we'll see the best from Ruiz: his ability to make that breathtaking through ball.

No chance. However, I think he has to make an impact in order to be around beyond this season. I hope he does, imagine how good he can be.
Ruiz, when he reaches his peak, could be outstanding for the team.
Many players are ordinary, make mistakes and it can take several seasons to produce the best performances and when they do you get 3 great seasons out of them. Sorry to mention his name, but it took Dempsey a while to prove himself.

I hear what you are saying Jarv but the differences between Dempsey and Ruiz are vast. Dempsey signed for a pittance from a footballing backwater. Where as Ruiz cost big money and came from a champions league side.

Also, Dempsey was signed by Coleman. He was one of a crop of players that came good when Hodgson took over.

Having played under Jol before I would have expected better performances from him by now. It suggests that he is not up to performing in this league on a regular basis.

If Ruiz does eventually peak then we would have a battle to hang onto him as there would not be much time left on his contract.

Good point Jimpav. The money is a big tag around Ruiz' neck and agree with others, he should be more productive. Yes, the future looks bleak. If he does well will be off on a free one day. :046:

Please let's not sell when we have someone fast pushing the line that he can pass to / or better yet into the spaces in front of !!

Ruiz for me looked much better last year with Hugo in front . But Hugo didn't play as much I would have liked for the shape of the team . Bent I think will be a starter .

Even more interesting I think the 3 behind Bent will be interchangeable .
3 of Ruiz , Berba , Taarabt , Kaca and Dejagah . No lefts no rights but constant rotation .

This is also why I think we need 2 defensive midfielders behind them .
