Moaners out in their numbers as per usual. Let me kindly remind you that there are SEVENTEEN games left to play and we are 3 (albeit potentially 4 or 6) points behind Leeds.

The performance was sub par and certainly a frustrating result, however, it's important to remind ourselves that we are missing key players - including our top goal scorer. Thought we really missed mitro today as it was very hard to break Charlton down. That being said, another clean sheet and another point. Huddersfield and Blackburn next; hopefully we can get good numbers down at blackburn to give the lads a boost.

Frustrating indeed, but not to the level that we need a clean slate or it has to be so doom and gloom. Reviewing the match just now, I think having StefJo in place of either Arter or Kmac, for the sake of sending in searching long balls alone, would have been interesting to see. We had multiple streaking and crossing runs by both Cav and Reid, that we just did not take advantage upon. In the second half, it was Hector who tried to send these passes, but by then Charlton had already dropped back into their shell, not to mention Cav and Reid were fatigued.

I remain positive, and the view I'll take is we have an idea of our depth - and get a better understanding of multiple players flexibility in positions. This was a forced lineup, and it was quite difficult to figure out what Parker was going to do.

Whitestone

It was a disappointing result and quite frustrating to watch but its not Parker's fault that Mitro, Kamara or Knockaert weren't available. Charlton had a game plan which they stuck to. We just couldn't break them down with the players available. At full strength we would have probably won comfortably.

Cav my MOTM as never stopped fighting to win possession. Poor bloke. Felt actively sorry for him.

Played his socks off. Very physical. I think he dribbled too much at times but even when he's about to lose the ball; he stays stuck in. Not sure who to give MOTM though.

Here here - what does that mean- spell check maybee

General

He got it wrong. It happens and is disappointing. As mentioned before we need another striker who's got height and stays up front. Reid can be a forward but if you're being trained to be an AM or winger you're going to habitually drop deep or go wide.

The clear elephant in the room is stansfield. He really should've been on from the 70th minute for us to stand a chance.

General

At least forest drew.

Put some thoughts on another thread but I don't think you were THAT bad. Bowyer out-managed Parker, and we used our limited resources (given we were two divisions apart last season, and our players coming back aren't really fit enough yet) effectively to stifle you. Parker didn't adapt to us transparently setting out our stall to defend and attempt to counter.

You'll be fine with the returns of Knockaert/Mitrovic and others. Don't forget that we've beaten Leeds, not lost to West Brom this year, beaten Brentford, drew with Forest - we're not a terrible side when we have it all together. Can see both the Cottagers and Addicks on an upturn in the next few weeks to be honest. All the best for the rest of the year.

Thank you for your balanced view, and for the record, Charlton was the first professional club I visited, and I was at the valley back in the 50s and watched the great Sam Bartram play his last game as Goalkeeper for Charlton before he retired, yes I was there on those huge packed terraces. I cannot remember the score, but I can remember that huge crowd.
All the very best for the remainder of the season.

Away from home, they parked the bus, we were missing 4 major attacking threats. Not an entirely unpredictable result and ya cannae win every week boys... those are my excuses.

In balance, Parker should have changed it in the second half and was too passive hoping for something like Cav did the other week. Agree with General, should have been a chance for Stansfield to be a rogue element from 60-70 onwards.

All part of the learning process and we are still in the hunt, one point still is pressure :)
