Quote from: Donnie Lonegan on September 08, 2026, 12:24:11 PMHow often do we beat Chelsea? hardly ever is the answer.
Sunderland have a terrific home record and just got a draw away at Brentford.
The last time we beat Crystal Palace the Queen was a picture of health.

All this cobblers about sacking the manager can only be coming from people who are plastic supporters who know nothing about football, it's doing my head in.
I have put my head above the parapet and said that unless Arbeloa changes his tactics, we have to get rid of him. I am not a plastic supporter but a supporter of 52 years going to virtually all home matches.

Read the Fulhamish article on today's Daily Fulham Stuff says it all. I could accept the three results but without a change of style, we are doomed.

By the way I don't boo our team and I don't call for managers' heads normally.

So you get rid of AA and who comes in and how long do you give the new manager time to make a difference before your are calling for his head?

You give Eddie Howe the rest of the season.  If we stick with this mug we are gone.  It was a shocking appointment.

Mullers OG

The last manager who came in and radically changed the team and the way of playing was Hughes. The result was almost as dreadful as now. Then it was said that senior players made their views felt and tactics reverted to Hidgson's. Results improved quickly.

Whether we have players with the experience and clout like Murphy, Hangeland and Dempsey I doubt. Time for Cairney as club captain to stand up.

The current position cannot continue. Either the tactics change or the manager changes. If he won't change tactics then the sooner he goes the better.

Yes, I've heard that said before, but the fact of the matter is the way we played under Hughes never resembled what we saw from the Hodgson era.

I'm loving our attacking play. I really hope the board give AA time and we don't see the same knee jerk reactions as I'm reading on here.
Get the defence working and we will be a fantastic watch.
And for what it's worth, I've hated being "mid table mediocrity" these past couple of years.
A good old blood pumping relegation scrap will be a breath of fresh air in my view ::wink::

AA walks off with no walk around with the players.

Not a great look today

And you must be in your element.

Bit of a rude response to an accurate observation.

Even a Nun would be hard pushed to

So do I  (attacking play)
Agreed   (defense working fantastic watch)
Disagree   (Mid table mediocrity.  For a smaller club like FFC and in this very tough league, I don't consider mid table mediocre.  In fact, I consider it much more a positive than anything else.)
Don't know if my heart can take it   (relegation scrap)

The following, from AAs press conference is the key.

"No like I tried to explain here. This is not about the fullbacks that are so high because it's about if the fullbacks are very high and we need the wingers not so high and we need the numbers 8s covering the space of our fullbacks and we need to control better when we will lose the ball.

"We need to make more fouls and obviously, we don't be so exposed. It's not about the system, it's about the idea, the balance, you cannot attack with seven players.

"And you will see that the majority of the time we have many players behind the ball. It's because we want to control the transition and the space that we have behind. We need to improve in that part of the game."

I worry about wingers taking the place of fullbacks, but the comment about not attacking with 7 players make me feel slightly easier. Now let's see this in practice.

Um, we attacked with effectively 8 players throughout Marco's reign and we had years upon years of "Most Fulham goals in a PL season" record broken.

I don't get why full backs need to be attacking all the time, isn't that the job of the wingers?

Who wouldn't want to finish higher in the table than we ever did under Silva?!?! My point was simply that we played a much more attacking style of football under Hughes than we did under Hodgson (i.e., the idea that back in 2010-11 players simply reverted to Hodgson's tactics is nonsense).

You have to admit that Hodgson mastered the balance when we were in a relegation scrap to then heading to a Europa league final.

He could adapt his tactics to fit the need, whereas bosses like Amorim are stuck in a cyclical loop.

His quote about taking fouls is reassuring.

What is concerning is picking Berge and Iwobi in those deep midfield positions if breaking up play and fouling is needed. They're naturally not that type of person or player. I don't think it can be coached into people either.

I just hope Charles and Larsson are able to provide that quality, coverage and steel eventually. Part of what continues to baffle me about letting Lukic go. He (and I guess Reed) were the only midfielders who seemed built for the new system. I get Lukic didn't have a ton of creativity, but he would have seemed like the best bridge to new players.

SP

Palace concede a late goal to lose at home to Ipswich, shame!

For me the khan's need to show patience and give Arebola time as he's shown he can adapt in a game we should of won today .

TBH i can see why all the negativity was on this board but it's far too early to start to talk about sacking a manager after 3 games in charge. AA has now proven that he can adapt tactics when needed and for that I applaud him. Now let's get that first win on the board against a beatable Manure side
Old skool 90's cheesy quaver

F(f)CUK

Fantastic performance and result. We just need us to not be all out attack at home and we can start thinking about the first 3 games being a blip.
