Grimmer recalled

Met Grimmer and the rest of the squad this morning at MP. Herew are a few of the team and the rest of us who were invited to watch training.


I didn't ask how tall he is, but compared to Dan Burn we are all small

And Cannavaro is 5'9".

Man, Cannavaro was insane.  Only defender to win the Ballon d'Or in the last 20 years or so.  That's a hell of an achievement.

Indeed....and yet, who can forget the night that the Great Enigma, Bobby Zamora, beat him senseless at Craven Cottage? He thugged Gera to the ground and took the red card with the air of 'Thank God that's all over'. Past his best by then, of course, but shows the kind of company we used to keep not so very long ago.

 I think it's the club invoking (sensibly) its contingency plan of forward looking into the squad and players next season in the Championship. Lots of current players will go, so get people like Grimmer into the squad now in preparation for the start of next season

this is good news for us. It was insanely stupid to transfer Senderos AND Hughes with Burn, Grimmer, and Arthurworrey out on loan. We were woefully exposed with only Heitenga, Hangeland, and Love Bite available to play in central defense.

Grimmer looks a born leader as well. He was the "coach on the pitch" in the Dr. Pepper Dallas Cup thingie, and he played all over the pitch in that tournament.

I'm not saying he's a Premier League player at this point -- about half our squad share that distinction -- but I think it's ridiculous to say he's too short or too slow to be a top flight player. I don't know if we'll see him the rest of this season, but I'd like to see Grimmer and Burn be our CB parntership for the next 5 or 6 seasons -- regardless on which league we're in.

Was lucky enough to have a good chat with grimmer today. seemed real level headed, had some nice things to say about Micky Adams (who still loves the club). He played RB & CB at Port Vale and only found out last night he would be recalled. He was training fully with the squad today.

Grimmer looks a born leader as well. 

That he defintely is. We are very fortunate that in the U21's and U18's there are a several, Dan Burn, Liam Donnelly,Solomom Sambou, Ronnie Minkwitz, Cauley Woodrow(may have been quiet in his debuts but he is a good leader by example and vocally). ll are highly motivated and vocal in their instructions and encouragement of the team.

Tranmere Rovers fans speak highly of Stephen Arthurworrey. Not only his on-field performance but also his attitude and commitment.

He is also a centre-back (and probably the reason why some think that Grimmer is a bit on the small side!)
