I would be interested to know a bit more about this.

How far over 75 are you ?
What area do you live in ?
Do you have a guarantee that the 2 jab will be in 3 to 4 weeks as you say rather than the 12 weeks the authorities are now reporting?
Yes also interested in where you live?
My Dad is 85 this month, lives in Fulham and hasn't been contacted at all!
My mother who is 88 had hers in Putney over a week ago.The next one is booked in for 12 weeks after

Had some mild fatigue and a mild fever for about 24 hours and then was fine.

Had mine around 2 weeks ago.

Your arm aches a little after around 12 hours but settles by day 2.
exatly the same as my brother in law, was it the pfiezer jab by chance?

Yup Pfizer.

I am an A&E nurse and got my first one on the 3rd. My second one has been delayed to get more people the first jab. However a word of warning, some of my colleagues have tested positive since having the first one. So it is not full protection but in theory should make symptoms milder. Good to hear so many getting it.

I had mine on Tuesday at Epsom Racecourse and at present it is entirely AstraZeneca. A tremendous large scale efficient organisation. Next one in April.

Apologies. I overlooked that I had responded on Page 1 !!

We had our jab as planned. Everything went well. Surgery very well organised . We will get our second jab in 12 weeks time.
No after effects  apart from a sore upper arm.
My wife and I also had our jabs yesterday.
I wonder if in a month or so  it would be possible to have an area at the Cottage open to fans who have been vaccinated.

When were those colleagues vaccinated and when do they believe they were infected? Because the guidance all along has been that it takes a few weeks to kick in.

Having received the vaccination does not prevent  COVID  but only the severity if suffered . Also it is still possible for a vaccinated person to be a carrier. Until there has been more research into this all of us vaccinated people must continue to follow government guidance with social distancing and wearing our masks.
This is not doom mongering but simply the fact of how serious this situation is and we can't go around starting our  hugging and kissing just because we think that we are in no further danger.
I intend to proceed with caution and hope that others also do so.

It was around the 2 week mark and the vaccine doesn't offer full immunity even with the two jabs just improves the bodies response to the virus.

Though the immunity level claims, following the second shot, for the Pfizer-BioNTech, are for 95% (94% for Moderna) which is pretty close and even if it simply mitigates the effects, that would be tremendous. Plus it's indicated as 100% effective to avoid hospitalizations, which obviously relieves the strain on the medical services.

Missus had her first Moderna shot 2 weeks back, and is due for her second 1n 2 weeks' time.
Still waiting here for distribution information. 80+ was Jan 6th, 70+ was Jan 13th, no further immunization dates yet released for the rest of us.

Hi Logicalman, where are you learning that 70+ is this month?
I thought we are still only less than halfway through the over 80s?

I apologize if my post wasn't clear, this relates to the US.

Each State has it's own rollout plan, and Indiana, where we now live, they are in the 70+ range and I would expect the 60+ to be announced by the end of next week. This is the link from My wife's employer (and my own client) info site https://iuhealth.org/covid19/covid-19-vaccine

We're both 68 and don't expect to be offered a jab any time soon. Happy to wait while more deserving folks get vaccinated.

Riversider

Were all luckier than the people of India,  their vaccine hasn't even been fully tested 🙄
Rather them than me.

I am over 70, with COPD, Diabetes and high blood pressure, but my Dr said probably will get mine in about a month.

Wow Alfie, did you not take care of yourself when younger?
