We are both over 75 and we are going to our local surgery to have our first vaccination tomorrow morning.
We are having the Pfizer version. We should get our second jab in about three to four weeks.

I would be interested to know a bit more about this.

How far over 75 are you ?
What area do you live in ?
Do you have a guarantee that the 2 jab will be in 3 to 4 weeks as you say rather than the 12 weeks the authorities are now reporting?

millsy

Excellent. The effort seems to be running pretty smoothly.
Have we already moved onto tier 3 from over 80s to over 75s or are their other health factors involved? If not that's really good news

Whatever the case good for you!

My daughter is a teacher at a childrens hospital and she had her first jab about 10 days ago but they have already told her the second one will be delayed so they can do more people with the first one
Remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
I will be as good as I can be and when I cross the finishing line I will see what it got me

my 90 year old nan is just about to have her first jab, they have also given the date for the second which isnt delayed as such but is right at the permissible time frame of  12 weeks later. is that the same sort of thing as your daughter or are they delaying past the recommended time frame

Yes also interested in where you live?
My Dad is 85 this month, lives in Fulham and hasn't been contacted at all!

My wife and I are well into the over 80 bracket and I am shielding.
We now both have letters from the NHS advising us to go on line for appointments to have the jab and today have been offered venues at Edgware, East London, Stevenage, Bristol and Birmingham.
We live in Shepperton so the closest venue is some 20 miles from home, we will try again tomorrow in the hope that Epsom which was an option yesterday returns.

It is not easy. The NHS letter gives a telephone number to ring but try and you can only listen to robots.

fantastic news.

Had some mild fatigue and a mild fever for about 24 hours and then was fine.

Had mine around 2 weeks ago.

Your arm aches a little after around 12 hours but settles by day 2.

Good luck with those then.
I've been on car park duty today and here at least, Exeter, things are ticking along. We try to get the less mobile oldies closer to the building, invariably they being driven in gives us a clue. Take a brolly and a fold up chair. The queues do seem to appear quite quickly but they do disappear just as fast and take your NHS numbers with you.

The Swan

My wife is 75 but she is classed as vunerable  so she got the call from the surgery .
I am 76 (77 in March)
We live in Milton Keynes.

I thought it was said today that no one over 75 would receive their vaccinations until all of the over 80s had been completed . I am 80 and had my first AstraZeneca yesterday and will receive my second one in April. Most of my  over 80 neighbours have not even received their letters yet so it seems to be a bit of a post code lottery which is. unfair.

I am over 70, with COPD, Diabetes and high blood pressure, but my Dr said probably will get mine in about a month.

Sadly she wasn't

I live in Epsom, I'm 77 and classed as vulnerable due to Cancer treatment, awaiting a phone call for my first jab!!

Perhaps I should have a surname like Johnson as Boris's father Stanley has had both jabs!! I wonder how?

My 85 y/o MIL (just outside Ipswich) had her first jab before Christmas and her second last weekend.  The Pfizer-Biontech version.  I think that because she was done pretty early, she fell into the cohort who didn't have their second jab delayed.

Closer to home, a family friend (in his late 80s) had his first jab at the Scout Hut in Putney a few days back.

Best of luck to you and the wife  :wine:  Happy for you both and hope that I will be able to get mine soon.  Although my state of Georgia is doing absolutely aweful on rolling out the vacine  :031:
Anyone can blend into the crowd.  How will you standout when it counts?

I'm only in my 50's but have had a Kidney transplant so hoping to hear something soon so I can finally get out of the house!

Barrett487

I had my first jab on Tuesday, as i'm a support/care worker.

The Swan

We had our jab as planned. Everything went well. Surgery very well organised . We will get our second jab in 12 weeks time.
No after effects  apart from a sore upper arm.
