Quote from: Lighthouse on August 22, 2024, 08:52:41 PMThe BBC do seem to pay very poor presenters lots of money only to have to sack the odd one for inappropriate behaviour. The bosses are really bad at their job. Good job their not football coaches.

Jermaine Jenas also works for Talksport and TNT Sports in case you weren't aware.
I guess their bosses must be really bad at their jobs too?

Have they all a history as long as the BBC of employing wronguns?  I didn't know that. Or had to sack as many presenters as the BBC. Or insist we pay a tax to keep their service going. I didn't know any of this.

It's the same presenter for all three broadcasters. Why are you always so fixated on the BBC?

Well unlike the others the BBC is the oldest and has a licence fee we pay for. So unlike the others it should have learned from its long history of mistakes with people it employs. I don't actually listen to the radio stations that are mentioned. But the BBC is a multi radio, tv channel with a huge internet news and sport and entertainment foothold. It pretty much dictates what we watch and listen to. So it is hard to get away from. Obsessed seems a little over the top for a public broadcaster that pretty much dominates 24 hours a day. It employs ex footballers as presenters on family entertainment shows. The other radio station tend to stick to employing sports personalities to sports. However this obsession others have of defending 'auntie' is explainable. They can't understand why the 'old lady' should be criticised. We should just accept her mistakes.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

If he's been sacked then that would suggest it's far more serious than just a flirtatious text or two.

He's probably a paedo. That corrupt organisation churns them out for fun and loves paying them for it.

State of some of the responses on this thread.

Sadly predictable too.

As I understand it, libel can jeopardise this forum so some of the comments on this thread are foolhardy to say the least.
The world is made up of electrons, protons, neurons, possibly muons and, definitely, morons.

I agree the bbc is a stench under the nostrils of the people who have to pay a licence fee to an organisation who are a 21st Century Dick Turpin and a platform for anti Western values.

I don't know how Jenas got the job in the first place, he comes across as smarmy and almost as bad as a presenter as the wooden Lineker.

It's not what you know it's who you know, jobs for the boys.

Nevertheless I am not going to judge him on the accusations surrounding his dismissal by the bbc as i do not know the facts.
To be sacked with immediate effect though indicates he has transgressed and it will be interesting to find out if there are any juicy bits.
The problem i find these days is that people complain and get offended about anything that hurts their feelings.
Then again a lot of ladies have now come forward to complain with their version of events.
So he looks as though he is on a sticky wicket.
So the organisation and establishment at the bbc would for legal reasons not have administered a Red Card unless they had concrete evidence that he has been in their eyes a very naughty boy.

Its not the man in the fight, it's the fight in the man.  🐘

You are right. But I have a feeling your criticism of the responses are not aimed at the same responses as those that I am bored by. That is why we have free speech.

Amen to this post.
I would also like to add that I said "probably" and not "he is".

I would like to think that we are in perfect alignment in this instance. We both know each others views on the organisation and it is fine that we disagree about it.  The accusations though, some of those are properly grim.

I thought he was an ok presenter.

Hmmmm, as we're straying into territory which may be risky to FOF and individual posters in terms of making comments that are largely based on minimal knowledge of the facts and therefore potentially reputationally damaging with a basis for legal redress, I'm gonna be locking this thread, and wishing you all a lovely and peaceful weekend, laden with 3 beautiful points.
