Silva to stay?

Quote from: ElRay on May 09, 2026, 10:14:51 AMFrom a Fulham perspective, the worrying thing is that there doesn't seem to be anything really compelling him to stay. The transfer strategy is likely to remain the same and we'll probably continue operating in the same way.

But Marco doesn't have the same leverage as other free agent managers this summer, like Iraola or Glasner. No trophies, no clearly identifiable style of play and while he can definitely have complaints about losing players like Mitro without proper replacements, the football has become pretty dull recently.

A lot of our recent wins could easily have been draws or even losses on another day. Yet when we lose, 10 out of 10 times the performance put in would end defeat.

He's not stupid. After the reputation damage from Watford/Everton situation I don't think he's in a position to publicly say he's leaving at the end of the season. He isn't guaranteed a better job than Fulham and he isn't special enough to be top of the list for a bigger club. It would be embarrassing if he announced he was leaving and then didn't land anything better.

I think he's more likely to end up somewhere like Forest than Chelsea, United, etc. He may be 2nd or 3rd choice for a bigger club, but with the managerial market moving this summer, it feels like he's putting his name out there to see if he can land something better.

Ultimately, what worries me most, not just whether Marco stays or goes, but the idea that we're waiting around to be someone's second choice. If the club is serious about moving forward, we can't afford to drift. The owners have to show ambition and clarity. Because if the manager is unsure, the transfer strategy is unchanged and the club is still reactive rather than proactive, then we're not progressing. We're just surviving.

Pretty spot on assessment. At this point the only good reason for him to have not signed a new deal is he is hoping for a different job. With his history he doesn't want to be seen as a mercenary by jumping ship before the season ends after rehabbing his reputation at Fulham. Running down his contract and fulfilling his obligation accomplishes that goal.

I think Fulham's hierarchy are playing a dangerous game here. Unless he has already agreed a contract and there are stipulations that keep it from being announced, I think the club need to start to move on to the next mgr. It's a no win proposition otherwise. If he leaves, you are wasting time that could be better spent preparing for the offseason. If he stays you are the consolidation prize for what is likely to be an undermotivated mgr.

Sign or get rid, we have a new season to prepare for

Poch at the game start the rumours

I think we have done well, generally, under Marco Silva but I am ready for him to move on. The team just seems out of ideas on how to score. I think it's time for a fresh approach.

After this match, I can honestly say I don't care if he signs or not. If he has no intention of signing, get rid now so that we can get someone new for the last two matches to give the team some fresh ideas.

What I've found strange in this saga are Marco's comments about being aligned and planning the future with the Khans. Why would they want Marco's players if a new manager wants to go in a different direction. Like many I now find it tedious

It's time for him to move on. I've finally said it.

Happy for him to go now. Our last few games have been dire. Bye Marco and thanks for the memories, although not the recent ones. I certainly think his not signing a contract, although not saying anything unlike Glasner and Iraola who have both said they're leaving their respective clubs at the end of the season, has been extremely damaging to us.

If Silva has decided to go then he should say so now and give his successor time to asses his options and the recruitment team ( :slap: ?) to find players that will match the new man's style. If he's staying then there need to be major discussions within the club as to what has gone wrong this season. I know we are still mid-table and have had some decent results but there's no consistency and the football is no longer as entertaining as it was when he first arrived. It would be refreshing to hear someone asking him the difficult questions and hear his replies.

This last game has convinced me to get a season ticket next season for the women's team.
Story of my life

Sadly she wasn't

Marco is definitely NOT what is known as Completer / Finisher
Based on the dismal failings of the run in / last 1/4 of the season, he has continually failed to see a positive end to our season
No it's no buts, the evidence is there
He is a great Starter, taking on a struggling team, re moulding them in many positive ways, achieving high performances and delivering good results
Sadly, beyond that, he is incapable  of seeing the job through, hence our collapse over the last few seasons, culminating in frustration, annoyance and a dismal end to all our hopes including the Khans
It's just a fact, nothing personal. We have much to be grateful to the fella, but now it is time for change.
He will move on and Fulham will carry on, with the Khans generous support and direction
Can't wait now for it to end and his replacement announced
Much to do during the summer before we kick off again
We have been here before

Withdraw the offer, we need new start.

In my opinion we are where we are for two reasons, neither being down to Marco. First, not signing a genuine centre forward post Metro's departure and second not signing a creative midfield player post Pereira's move. Given the squad we have, being safe from relegation for virtually the whole season is as much as could reasonably be expected.

I think Marco probably feels very let down by the club, despite his diplomatic "alignment" comment, and will need cast-iron assurances about filling the two most obvious gaps if he is to remain. I hope he gets them and does.

And frankly, with our squad and uncertainty as to whether Marco stays, the last thing we want is to be involved in the third tier Europe nonsense.

I honestly think we need to cut ties. We actually need a real new set of ideas
