Quote from: JoeS on May 06, 2026, 06:29:50 PMFollowing on from another thread, what is our club anthem? Is it "can't take my eyes off you"? If so, should we play it before games? If memory serves, we tried it in circa 2014 during the run-in and it didn't work very well as not enough joined in/sang it at different paces vs the slow audio.

Not saying this is the only solution but it seems to work at other clubs in boosting atmosphere.

If not that song, any other ideas? Arsenal made one from scratch which like it, loathe it or cringe at it, seems to have worked for them.
Not sure we actually have a club theme? Quite like London's Calling when we come out for second half whether that's a bit lively to chant to just before kick off ?
If it's more a Ballard type then I would put forward Impossible Dream ala Matt Monroe style! Could tweak a few words and chorus lines?

London's Calling is dire and should have been binned years ago. It's non emotional and dated

Quote from: Southcoastffc on May 06, 2026, 08:58:15 PMIMO the key thing is that not many people know the words to Can't Take My Eyes Off You other than "I love you Fulham".  Perhaps displaying them on the screens might help, or printing them on clappers (if we have them again).

The song was originally sung by Franki Valli in 1967. It should be binned immediately. It's use is for karaoke nights and weddings.

In a land that time forgot, I used to love The March of the Gladiators from Aida which Johnny Haynes, Jimmy Langley and Bobby Robson used to walk on to!
You are joking yes? Matt Monroe?? Do you want to make Fulham the laughing stock of football??
How about Vera Lynn's White Cliffs of Dover or to be more modern, something from Harry Belafonte, Adam Faith, Cliff Richard (Living Doll?) or maybe something from Elvis or Bill Hayley and his Comets, You could stand up on your chair in the Riverside and really rock around the clock eh?

Quote from: ffcne on May 07, 2026, 10:38:43 AMShould be London's Calling before the game.
Cant Take My Eyes Off You after the game.
There is a version of this which i remember from my  clubbing days in Ibiza
back in 1982/83 Soul/ R&b by the Boys Town Gang

Always makes me smile listening to a Londoner singing "Can't take my eyes off you."
They seem to be unable to sing it without word the of stuck in.
i.e."Can't take my eyes off of you.

It's interesting to read your take on it, Mr. Gang. I'm no Londoner, neither am I a grammarian, but I venture to suggest that "can't take my eyes off of you" is equally correct, if not more so. Parallels would be when people say things like "out the door, out the window etc" when it's correctly out OF the window etc.

In speech, I understand that it's shorthand to drop or truncate the "of" and it gets muted to something like "out o'the window" etc but I'm beginning to see it written wrongly as well.

Just a small thing but it's irritating to see language degraded like that.

How about tha modern classic Ole Man River?  ::wink::

Ol' man river
Dat ol' man river
He mus' know sumpin'
But don't say nuthin'
He jes' keeps rollin'
He keeps on rollin' along

A bit like the terrible England rugby 'Swing Low Sweet Chariot' - easy to sing, but completely irrelevant. The lyrics could be modified though -

Come on Fulham
Oh Come on Fulham
Just keep rolling
And don't stop scoring
Jes' keep rollin'
Just keep on rollin' along

That's NOT a serious suggestion but someone like Felix White could surely come up with some appropriate lyrics and a tune that is not difficult.
The world is made up of electrons, protons, neurons, possibly muons and, definitely, morons.

Wasn't that sung by Dick Turpin just before they hung him in 1739.

You'll Never Walk Alone is quite successful and that came out in 1963.
