Club Anthem

Following on from another thread, what is our club anthem? Is it "can't take my eyes off you"? If so, should we play it before games? If memory serves, we tried it in circa 2014 during the run-in and it didn't work very well as not enough joined in/sang it at different paces vs the slow audio.

Not saying this is the only solution but it seems to work at other clubs in boosting atmosphere.

If not that song, any other ideas? Arsenal made one from scratch which like it, loathe it or cringe at it, seems to have worked for them.

Not sure we actually have a club theme? Quite like London's Calling when we come out for second half whether that's a bit lively to chant to just before kick off ?
If it's more a Ballard type then I would put forward Impossible Dream ala Matt Monroe style! Could tweak a few words and chorus lines?

The problem is Fulham only have a small hard core that do the singing when you compare that with

Liverpool "you never walk alone" the whole fan base sing
Arsenal "north London forever" again the whole fan base sing.
Even Brentford with "hey Jude" the whole lot sing.

It would be fantastic if a song could be found that fans would be pleased to join in.

Story of my life
"I was looking back to see if she was looking back to see if i was looking back at her"
Sadly she wasn't

IMO the key thing is that not many people know the words to Can't Take My Eyes Off You other than "I love you Fulham".  Perhaps displaying them on the screens might help, or printing them on clappers (if we have them again).
The world is made up of electrons, protons, neurons, possibly muons and, definitely, morons.

We could have Michael Jackson "Beat Them"

Just beat them (beat them), beat them (beat them)
No one wants to be defeated
Show them how Fulham is strong in black and white
It doesn't matter who's wrong or right
Just beat them (beat them), just beat them (beat them)
Just beat them (beat them), just beat them (beat them)
Remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
I will be as good as I can be and when I cross the finishing line I will see what it got me

Didn't we used to sing 'Sweet Molly Malone' back in the mid 1960's

Jims Dentist

Although I like ours, I really like Burnley's run out music.
The Esctacy of Gold from the classic The Good The Bad and The Ugly.
Starts of slow and builds to a crescendo.

Dr Know

Isn't Brentford's run out tune Gypsies , Tramps and Thieves by Cher !

Andrew

A theme tune?
We don't have one and we don't need one.

If all we do is copy low IQ teams it. Will be a bad thing

I like live and die in these towns.

Yes and it lingered into the 70s but it wasn't hugely successful.

But it does make the point that an "anthem" doesn't have to laud or even refer to the team. It can just be a good catchy song thst everyone can sing - like Ireland's Athenry or Bristol's Good Night Irene. If it's traditional rather than a pop song, which often aren't very long-lived, I think that helps as well.

We need one our famous singer song writing fans to come up with something.

This is the issue I think.
Guy goes into the doctor's.
"Doc, I've got a cricket ball stuck up my backside
"How's that?"
"Don't you start"

Fulhamight

Nick Nottingham Forest's anthem to the tune of Mull of Kintyre...

Fulham FC oh mist rolling in from the Thames
Our desire is always to be here.
Oh Fulham FC....

Only joking but it does work well at the City ground!

In a land that time forgot, I used to love The March of the Gladiators from Aida which Johnny Haynes, Jimmy Langley and Bobby Robson used to walk on to!

gang

We even had Al Fayed singing some stupid song.
We're too reserved we don't make enough noise. ::scarf::

Should be London's Calling before the game.
Cant Take My Eyes Off You after the game.
There is a version of this which i remember from my  clubbing days in Ibiza
back in 1982/83 Soul/ R&b by the Boys Town Gang

Club anthem for Fulham??

I have read a few members' suggestions....some going back to the 60s! Really??? Amazed no one has suggested going back to the War days and putting up Vera Lynn's 'White Cliff's of Dover'...lol. Then there was Michael Jackson's 'Beat It' (who on earth is going to sing that?) and other tunes put up for consideration.... which would be totally hopeless to use as the club's anthem.

Andy Ritchie's hit song 'Can't take my eyes off you' goes back to the 1970s and the original song was released by Frankie Valli in 1967....it's old and sounds so lame now. It's been tried so many times...it just doesn't work as a mass song. It belongs to karaoke night and weddings.

Something a bit cutting edge is called for.
I know it's been used extensively now, but Free From Desire by Gala is an absolute belter.....the Nah Nah song....50,000 Scots belted it out loud and proud at Hampden Park after qualifying for this year's World Cup with that incredible win over Denmark. It's a brilliant tune and fans can make up their own words or how about putting the words on the big screen and then take it from there??

But tbh, Fulham fans are too reserved to all sing en masse for sustained periods throughout a match.

Leeds' 'Marching on Together' sung in full voice is a spine-tingling classic club anthem while at No 1, Liverpool's 'You will never walk alone' sung wholeheartedly at Anfield, still terrorises the away teams and gives most fans (home and away) goosebumps. In fact there is a famous story that the late, great Bill Shankley pulled a master stroke before kick off before kick-off in a European tie, and got his Liverpool team to warm up at the 'away' end at Anfield whilst their Italian opponents had to use the Kop end. The visiting players were so intimidated, they ventured no further than around the half-way line!

I don't think that type of atmosphere will ever happen at the Cottage unless you recall 'That Match' against Juventus back in March, 2010. That's the sort of atmosphere we need to replicate EVERY home match.

If we did, we would certainly have been playing in Europe on a regular basis since getting to that Europa League final v Atletico all those years ago.
