How can a German want England to do well?

Quote from: Nick Bateman on June 18, 2026, 01:38:21 AMI was pleased with the performance today. I understand this is a massive change to the England squad, and it didn't make sense to me. But glad England got rid of the Southgate passing around for no reason, and it was promising.

I thought the first half was pretty back and forth.  I also thought the tactical changes England made in the second half made a huge difference.  Bringing on Rashford against a tired defense makes sense and worked out well.

Well done to the England squad and manager.
Anyone can blend into the crowd.  How will you standout when it counts?

I actually would always prefer to have an English head coach , I guess that's what goes with my age group maybe , but I do think tuchel is totally wrapped up in the job and his enthusiasm is there for all to see. Plus already he seems to be making the right decisions .

It's late, and probably somewhat ill advised.

OP is a lousy troll (mods?), but worth a bump to hopefully get a few braincells moving for anyone myopic and shortsightedness enough to let their xenophobia believe this opening statement had any morsel of truth.

One of the best, most spirited England performances you'll ever see.

I found Tuchel's comments about the referees very disappointing. Both Quansah's red card and Mexico's penalty were the correct calls and VAR rightly intervened, in my opinion.

The football might remain boring till the end, with the Croatia game being just an exception, but it looks to me that this England side has a toughness about them, a never-die mentality and a pragmatic approach of their mission.

60 years is too long - I think the time has come.

The German is starting to win me over. The Mexico performance and result was probably England's best since we walloped the Germans 5-1 in Munich, 25 years ago!! I still believe he made a catastrophic error in omitting half of the core group of our squad in Harry Maguire, Palmer, Foden, Trent, etc back home, but the partnership of Kane and Bellingham is working wonders.

Tuchel to use his epithet is visibly forcing the "Southgate" negative thought processes out of the England team; one saw how he rebuked Djed Spence for throwing the ball backwards when there was a forward player also free. Tuchel is showing he wants to succeed and England gave everything in that Mexico match.

As for my absence, absence makes the heart grow stronger they say, and theirs nothing like a good ban to clear out the cobwebs!   Roll on the Norwaks!
