Was at that game. Santos were on a tour of UK think they played Plymouth as well as Fulham.

Yes  Santos toured England in 1973, I was also there to watch Pele & Santos.
Did that have anything to do with the original opening of the Riverside stand, or am I thinking of Benfica.

Fulham beat Santos 2 1 scorers Steve Earle and an own goal.
Every single Fulham player that day including the manager and coaches was English apart from Jimmy Dunne who was Irish.

Crowd was 21,464 if I counted correctly as some of the supporters kept moving about.

Team

Peter Mellor
John Cutbush
Paul Went
 Jimmy Dunne
 Fred Callaghan
 Les Strong
 Alan Mullery
 Alan Pinkney
 Les Barrett
 Steve Earle
 John Mitchell

Substitute:
 John Fraser

Manager:
 Alec Stock

I remember going to Spencer Park School with Alan Pinkney.
Blimey doesn't time fly.

I was there that day and it was the first time I had seen Pele. I later saw him in a match in Miami and later bumped into him at Heathrow Airport. Thinking about this we are fortunate as Fulham supporters to have seen so many world class footballers at Craven Cottage over the years. ::wine::

I have a feeling John Cutbush was Maltese...but maybe he was born in Malta but held a British passport.

I have no recollection of Alan Pinkney.

We're still waiting for the new Riverside Stand to be inaugurated with a celebrity match. Messi and Inter Miami?

More likely will be our Men's team against our women's team.

Sorry Woolly, I was there and I did move 😔

Probably need to do a re estimation based on a 20-30% probable movement?

Alan Pinkney was on loan from Palace to cover for the injured Alan Slough.
