The Old Count

Interesting how many people jump on any vague rumour to have a go at the owners.
It's not like they're Bulstrode or Clay or even Tommy Trinder (you lucky people).
Is it the general malaise with football, its structure and ownership in general? Is it the same on other club's forums?

BarneyTravers

Lack of ambition...as the old Count has just commented imagine the furore if Ernie/Bulstrode were still at the helm....the darkest of days...in the 5 years under Silva witnessed some of the best football in my 50+ years of watching 'by far the greatest team the world has ever seen'....annoying cliche I know but guess just got to 'trust the process'

Quote from: sunburywhite on June 23, 2026, 07:35:03 AMThe longer this drags on, the more I think it is going to be a World Cup manager. Poch would presumably be the favourite

We keep bidding for players as well, so either someone is saying who he wants or the club are getting who they fancy
This is exactly my thought, the only other person I think they could be waiting for is Glasner but I don't see any other vacancies in the top leagues of Europe.

I had a terrible thought a few days ago - Jesse Marsch, Canada's coach, formerly of Leeds.  Sorry to alarm anyone.

There's nothing wrong with being ambitious. Why shouldn't the club try for a big name ? You never know if you don't ask the question.

I think some of our fans have an inferioraty complex when it comes to our club. We're not in the lower divisions now we are at the top table, arguably the best league in the world finishing mid table. According to Forbes we are the twenty sixth most valuable club in football. We are in a desirable area and with a fan base that doesn't hound out it managers after a few bad results.

I look at it that after the two recent interviews supporters are entitled to have reservations on decision making from owners where manager is concerned. It's not been their finest hour and personally I find no plan B is more than a slight embarrassment more a dereliction of duty? Not having an active DOF in this country is showing it's ugly head yet again and will continue to do so. They can have all the ambition in the world but keep getting fundamentals wrong and it will continue to bite them on the backside.
I've mentioned this before that Ali Mac has been in the game long enough to have read the room months ago with the Silva situation? Whether his position has changed or not surely he would of had a quiet word in someone's ear late last year that there was an issue on the Horizon that needed addressing or having a contingency in place.

I firmly believe Shad wants success but has to make it a balancing act so as TK is much involved without undermining his position a scenario not uncommon at FFC. Since Silva arrived there has been less wastage than at any other time of Khans reign at that might be the most telling?

Yes, they'll be some heritage Champions League teams very interested.

It's not an inferiority complex, it's called reality! We've had people on here saying it can only be Klopp. Might as well all agree it's got to be Pep.

Whoever is the coach we will see.
As for SK should have high aims so if it's Poch then a statement signing by SK.

As far as I can tell it's not, OP is stirring the pot

Noticed that too.

I wonder if Pochettino is still in consideration and we're waiting for the world cup to be over?

I hope so.

A world cup for the US as US manager with current crop is something to treasure, and it probably doesn't get much better, but once they're out perhaps he'll be thinking of what next..?

Perhaps the khan's have already had a chat about it when Poch came to the cottage at the end of the season..

Jedi, Ream.. perhaps Pepi..

Fulham is apparently the team Poch is a fan of, and we've strong USA links.

Perhaps I'm being too optimistic but..
Not a chance on this Planet Pochettino

Hey, if Mourinho can end up in the Turkish league, and villas boas can end up at Shanghai FC, and Ronaldinho can come out of retirement and play for a 4th division club in Italy as has happened recently, then a manager who's a fan of Fulham and managing a US team, which has strong links historically/currently to the club as well as an ownership structure that's from the US, then it's definitely not as far fetched or dillusional and you're trying to portray, especially given Poch was seen at the ground towards the end of last season.. the conversation in my mind must've even been inferred at a certain point, even if tongue and cheek

Yeah, exactly. Don't forget we somehow managed to lure Berbatov to play for us for a couple of seasons. What a guy.

Yeah, exactly. Don't forget we somehow managed to lure Berbatov to play for us for a couple of seasons. What a guy.

And Martin Jol who was a former spur manager (when he and they were good).. we've also signed Schurle (mixed views on his time with us but had a reputation and had won the world cup), Babel, Karagounis, Diarra, Danny Murphy.

Fulham can attract top talent (Anguissa, Dembele, Kevin), or players with a reputation (those above and Berba) and good managers.. often managers talk openly about liking fulham as a club and being hard to play against.

Poch is apparently a fulham fan, so it's really not that much of a jump, especially with the squad we have and the ownership

General

Pochettino managerial record..

Average time at a club 2.5 years, previously also managed Southampton

Only 84 games at PSG and 50 odd at Chelsea.. maybe he'd also want more continuity at a club, which after Marco stayed five years at fulham, may also bode well for us. He's moved around a lot, and often that means families don't- wonder where they're based. Mourinhos kids stayed in London, which his son an academy player for us and his daughter went to college/uni in London.
