Egypt currently 1-0 up but absolutely robbed of a second goal. WTF is up with the reffing in this WC? The "foul" happened more than 30 seconds before the goal.

F(f)CUK

I was just checking how many seconds between the foul and goal whilst Argentina had a corner. Missed Egypt's second goal...17 seconds btw

Will ENGLAND ever have a better chance of getting to a WC Final ? Egypt and Norway are not to be underestimated but if you were told before the tournament that they were your  1/4 and semi final opponents you would have been delighted ...

demeant0r

That's still a long time between the "foul" and the goal. And what a soft foul it was. I'm glad Egypt found their second goal.

Ah, Argentina showed up and decided to play a game.  They must have set their alarm clocks late.

I'm sure that's the bloke from the dog track who usually spends most of the game arguing with the ref?

FIFA will be delighted. With the teams left they will want an Argentina v France final.

I am happy.that Argentina are through, I am.looking forward to an England Vs Argentina Semi final, Egypt wouldn't have felt the same.

To knock out Messi and co on the way to winning the World Cup would really be something.

And in the meantime means we also might still get Argentina Vs Colombia in the next round, which could be a fantastic one.

Egypt were great on the counter attack, but Argentina were the better team.

Daylight robbery. Give Messi the trophy already, what's the point in playing the rest of the tournament. They've clearly been favoured by the refs throughout this tournament. Today was just the most obvious example.

With VAR. or without VAR.
it makes no difference does it.

FIFA likes money.  Advertisers spend a lot of money in the most lucrative TV market in the world - the USA.  Messi is in just about every commercial.  So there's a lot of reasons FIFA wants Messi to remain relevant in this tournament.

TBH, England had it's chance.  Beckham is in almost as many commercials as Leo.  TT should have put him on the squad.

What was the robbery?

The disallowed goal for starters. Without even getting into everything else. It clearly should have stood.

To clarify, I wanted Argentina to win the last World Cup, and I thought they won it fair and square. This WC, however, it's clear they are favoured by the referees and it's a disgrace.

Disagree. Clear foul to win the ball that started the sequence. Good call, but unfortunate for Egypt, in my opinion. Just seemed more controversial because the time that elapsed, but it wemas one unbroken sequence of play.

Can't remember much else from this game that looked controversial either really. Would have liked some replays on what happened at the other end before Argentina's third goal though, as there were quite a few protests.

Too much time has passed for it to be a foul and the foul itself was quite soft. The third Argentina goal, similar thing happened to Salah and before that a player was pulled in the box, neither one was given as a foul, the goal stood.

Against Austria, similar thing happened, where an Austrian player was fouled just before Argentina scored from a counter attack, the goal stood.

As for other things,no yellows for Argentina despite them making a lot of fouls, lots of which were professional/tactical/whatever you call them fouls. Every 50-50 went Argentina's way. Look at previous games again too. Same thing. I've already mentioned the goal they've scored vs Austria, there are other examples too.

I always want Argentina to lose...
But I'm a miserable old person...
I pray we can beat Norway.... it's going to be really tough.
Don't really want Argentina in the semi's... I cannot face the thought of losing to them...
Unlucky Eygpt... let's hope Colombia or the Swiss can knock them off their perch.
