J7st watch the new training session on UTube and to say the intensity has increased under the new manager would be an understatement, players look fitter and the pace of the grass work is a huge step up from Marcos sessions, the proof will be when the season starts but even ESR looks fit

SG

What I thought was most interesting was the vastly increased interaction and involvement from the manager in every session showed - I don't believe it was just for the camera!

Wow, that looked intense!
Still I am 78
The atmosphere's fresh and the debate lively.

The walk from Putney bridge through the park to Stevenage Road is intense at my age.

Be careful. Everyone says this. Go look at amorims first video at United, or potter at chelsea

General

The players seem much more vocally engaged and attentive and enthusiastic in these training sessions - it comes across as if they're being pushed as footballers perhaps more - and that more is expected of them in the sessions in terms of intensity and style of play.

One thing I noticed is a lot more expectation on one pass football, but also more notably is movement off the ball.

Whether or not this is a genuine difference vs a recording difference is anyone's guess though.

Do agree the videos seem different, and this is the second one? I think we've seen under Arbeloa.

Look like things are tentatively going well in training so far, but we really need to pull our finger out with transfers asap

From a coach's perspective, I can see the usual counting rondos, but with some different exits to reach the goal. I especially liked seeing full-field scrimmages, something you don't see every training. That puts a lot of relevance to how players are evaluated technically but also at a fitness level. I enjoyed seeing Reed give some advice to one of the younger players as well.

Did anyone spot any of the U21 in this?

Remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
I will be as good as I can be and when I cross the finishing line I will see what it got me

Think 25% fitter across the squad is a plus and wonder if it will keep players match fit and less injuries.

Deeping_white

From the 11v11 session it certainly looked like there was a more concerted effort to get the ball forward quicker with fewer touches/passes and tbh I hope that's the case because a lot of the time last season we were all calling out for a more direct approach in attacking transitions

That's what she said last night.

Correct, this system of play could yield more goals, and less passing backwards in our
own half.
Although I do appreciate that you have to pass the way you are facing to keep possession.

To be fair they aren't going to show a video of Arbeloa having a crafty cig with ESR outside the Maccy D on NE Road.

Finnans Right Peg

Also seemed to showing the love to Josh king a lot

Sadly she wasn't

Did anyone watch the Arbeloa mic'd up video? Absolutely brilliant. I was afraid he'd give off Parker vibes, but seeing and hearing him guide players is exceptional. He's not another teammate on the field like Parker tried to be - but is demanding his style be applied through individual discussions. You don't see very often a mic'd up session that has a coach talking to individual players about where to be on the pitch and different scenarios. I also am enjoying seeing them play full-field scrimmage where he can guide them on these important moments in the match as well. In the coaching world Rondos are the main tool, but my philosophy is let the actual game/scrimmage teach and raise that football IQ at a quicker rate - so of course I'll take in all the AA related content like this.

Talk about getting involved! Hope his voice holds out.
"We're going to kill you."

I laughed at the end when he said, "Thanks for coming." I doubt that attendance was voluntary.

As Matt mentions above, I too really like the personal involvement of AA (advantage of having a young, top class payer at the helm), the attention to detail he gives to individual players and the intensity he demands in each exercise, rather than simply dialling it in. Gotta feeling we´re going to be fitter and stronger this season, which will hopefully see more out of players like ESR, Josh and (fingers crossed) Muniz.
