Larsson Signs for Fulham

The Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Hugo Larsson from Eintracht Frankfurt on a long-term deal, subject to an initial loan period.

Speaking to FFCtv, Larsson said: "Obviously, it's a very proud moment for me and my family – I'm honoured to be here.

"To come here, to the oldest club in London, with all the history that it has, is such an honour for me."

Tony Khan added: "I'm thrilled to welcome Hugo Larsson to Fulham! He is a very talented player, and we have been tracking him for several years.

"Hugo has impressed at Eintracht Frankfurt and for his national team, and I believe that he can strengthen our squad! Come on Fulham!"

A hard-working central midfield player who likes to operate as a six or an eight, Larsson has an impressive engine that helps him get around the pitch. He is also known for being an excellent reader of the game.

Having come through the ranks at Swedish giants Malmö FF, he made his senior debut for the club in a Swedish Cup tie in February 2022 at the age of 17. That was the first of five Svenska Cupen appearances Larsson made that season, including the entirety of the Final, which Malmö won on penalties against Hammarby.

The teenager was also a virtual ever-present in the league that season, and was duly named Allsvenskan Young Player of the Year.

The following campaign saw Larsson sample UEFA Champions League and Europa League football for the first time, and it was not long before Frankfurt secured his services, bringing him to Germany ahead of the 2023/24 Bundesliga season, with Malmö receiving the largest fee seen in Allsvenskan history.

Frankfurt secured a sixth-place finish in his maiden campaign, bringing with it a Europa League spot (in which they went on to reach the Quarter-Finals), but 2024/25 was even more prosperous for the Club, with Larsson playing a key role as they finished third behind Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen.

During his three years at the club, he made 119 appearances, scoring 10 goals and assisting seven.

Larsson made his senior Sweden debut in January 2023, and now has 12 caps to his name.

Cynicism aside, I'm actually looking forward to a settled CM pairing and hoping that Larsson and Charles can be a dominant pairing for us moving forward and a solid foundation to build from

He comes to us having been for a large part a starting DM/CM for Eintracht Frankfurt for the last 3 years, since he was 19.

When he was 19, he was a starting CM for Frankfurt as they finished 6th in the table

Impressive and whilst 22, he comes with pedigree. 6ft2 too, but ideally needs to bulk up a bit

This season really could go two ways but I dont think either is mid table

I was reading online that he ranks as one of the top midfielders in the Bundesliga for distance covered. That plays into the high press and intensity style of play we are going for

If this means Iwobi never plays in CM again, this signing may already be worth it!
