Official: Real Madrid send Manuel Angel to Fulham in €4m deadline-day deal
Real Madrid had finished their operations to reinforce the first team a few weeks ago, making Yan Diomande the last new addition to Jose Mourinho's team. However, he was not their last signing, as they also signed the midfielder Sergio Martinez from Racing Club, albeit for the reserve team for the time being.

However, the Merengues were still working on the deadline day of the transfer window. On this last day, they completed one notable operation, i.e., the departure of the young midfielder Manuel Angel.

As MARCA has reported, Real Madrid have officially announced the transfer of 50% of the youngster's rights to the English side Fulham in exchange for €4 million. Thus, after having landed Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios, Alvaro Arbeloa has now signed another promising youngster from his former club.

The Spanish coach was previously looking to land another midfielder from the Merengue club, namely Thiago Pitarch. However, Los Blancos and Jose Mourinho both ruled out his departure, which made Arbeloa turn to Manuel Angel, who was facing a particularly difficult summer in the Spanish capital.

Angel had played an important role in the first team, under Arbeloa, in the second half of the last season. However, he was unable to participate in the preseason with Mourinho and was also sidelined from the Castilla team. Meanwhile, Arbeloa had been closely monitoring the situation of his captain during his time at La Fabrica, and has now provided him with a way out of his difficult situation.

This can turn out to be a good move for all the involved parties. Arbeloa will get a trusted player in his squad as he looks to make his name in the most competitive of European competitions, the Premier League. Manuel Angel will get to play under a manager who trusts him, and will have the platform to showcase his talents at the highest level.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid found a team for the youngster where he will get more consistent playing time, while also retaining some control over his future.

Tottenham sign ex-Fulham star who wants to play for Nigeria
Tosin Adarabioyo has completed his move from Chelsea to Tottenham Hotspur after the two London clubs reached an agreement on transfer deadline day, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 28-year-old centre-back joined Spurs permanently on September 1, with the initial fee reported at about £7 million, plus add-ons that could take the deal closer to £10 million. Chelsea later confirmed that Adarabioyo had completed the transfer after two seasons at Stamford Bridge.

The move gives Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi another experienced central defender after Kevin Danso left for Sunderland. Adarabioyo arrives with strong Premier League experience and a background at Fulham, where he established himself as a regular top-flight defender before earning a move to Chelsea.

The deal also has extra history. It is the first permanent senior-player transfer directly between Chelsea and Tottenham since Carlo Cudicini moved from Stamford Bridge to Spurs in 2009. Tottenham also completed a separate deadline-day deal for Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk, who joined on loan.

Adarabioyo's Chelsea spell brought two major trophies. He was part of the team that won the UEFA Conference League in 2025 and the FIFA Club World Cup later that year. Across his two seasons, he made 70 appearances and scored seven goals.

New Tottenham chance for Adarabioyo under De Zerbi
Adarabioyo joined Chelsea from Fulham on a free transfer in July 2024 after four seasons at Craven Cottage. He had already built a strong reputation in English football after coming through Manchester City's academy and gaining experience on loan at West Bromwich Albion and Blackburn Rovers.

His first Chelsea season gave him a clear role in the squad. He made 35 appearances in all competitions and featured regularly in the UEFA Conference League. His first Chelsea goal came in the 8-0 win over FC Noah.

His second season was more difficult. Competition for places in central defence increased, and Adarabioyo made 29 appearances, with only eight of his 16 Premier League appearances coming as starts. His decision to leave was therefore also about finding a club where he could play more regularly.

Tottenham's need for a defender made the move possible. Danso's departure created another opening in the squad, while Spurs were also dealing with changes in their defensive group. De Zerbi now has a player who knows the Premier League, has played in European competition and has experience of winning major trophies.

There is also a strong Nigeria connection to Adarabioyo's next chapter.

Born in London to Nigerian parents, he played for England at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 levels. However, he never made a senior appearance for England, leaving him eligible to represent Nigeria.

Adarabioyo has previously rejected claims that he turned down Nigeria. After Chelsea's 4-1 win over Real Betis in the 2025 Conference League final, he said he had never rejected the Super Eagles and explained that his focus had been on establishing himself at Fulham and then Chelsea. He also said he knew he needed to make a decision about his international future.

Reports in March said he had agreed to represent Nigeria, while other reports later questioned whether the switch had been formally completed. What is clear is that Adarabioyo has spoken positively about playing for the Super Eagles and has never been capped by England's senior team.

Did Fulham get all their Deadline Day business right?
Jack Stroudley summarises Fulham's the final day of Fulham's transfer window.

Even by Tony Khan's standards, yesterday was shaping up to be a frantic deadline day.

A "here we go" by 7am appeared to set the tone for what felt like a busy day at Motspur Park and although we ended up with three through the door, it did still feel a bit quiet towards the end of the day. So who's come in? Is the squad fully ready for the season?

Incomings

Hugo Larsson
Larsson was the first name to receive the Fabrizo Romano treatment early on Tuesday morning and has come through the door from Eintracht Frankfurt on a loan with an obligation of £19m.

A box-to-box midfielder whose standout season came in 2024-25 in the top 25% of midfielders for defensive contributions, top 17% for interceptions and top 16% for blocked shots. He was also not afraid to get forward as well being in the top 25% for successful dribbles, top 20% for pass accuracy, top 30% for chance creation as well as top 30% for goals scored.

To summarise, Larrson will get up and down the pitch. He'll press from the front and be a tough tackler but will also bring the ball forward and add some more creativity from the middle of the park - something we certainly lacked against Sunderland. I think this is a good pick-up and a decent fee.

Manuel Angel
Although Larsson was the first that fans knew were happeninng, it was Angel who was the first to be announced by the club making him the third player from Real Madrid this transfer window. The 22 year old joined from Real Madrid for a reported €4m with Madrid having the same sell-on fee/clauses in place as the deals for both Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios.

He's another creative option that Arbeloa worked with at Real Madrid Castilla. Arbeloa has previously touted him as "an elite player in the making". Angel, similarly to Palacios, hasn't featured much for the Real Madrid first team but will come to Craven Cottage with promise and with the aim of developing into a top player - especially for the low fee.

Personally, I'm not sure how I feel about two of our midfield options being "projects" and with Palacios flattering to deceive in the early exchanges of the Premier League, I am a bit worried.

David Affengruber
After centre-backs were rumoured in their droves over the summer, David Affengruber was finally the one to fit the bill late on Tuesday night. The Austrian international joins from Elche for a reported £8.6m.

A 25 year old who joined the Spanish side in 2024, helped them to promotion to La Liga and was a mainstay in their side last season to keep them up in Spain's top division. Affengruber usually operates as the centre of a back three so may take some adjustment to a high-pressing defensive two in the Premier League.

That being said, Affengruber is rated highly by Elche fans and his stats from last season show why. He was in the top 9% of defenders in Europe for tackles, top 6% for recoveries, top 8% for interceptions and top 15% for defensive contributions. The Austrian international clearly isn't afraid to get stuck in and be physical but also wants the ball to feet as well.

He was in the top 20% for touches and top 15% for successful passes so will suit the way Arebloa wants to play. It looks like a good buy for the fee, I just worry how much pressure we're putting on someone who wasn't a first-choice target and was available on deadline day for a cut-price.

Outgoings
I was quite surprised to see that there were no departures on Deadline Day with the most obvious player to talk about being Kenny Tete.

The Dutchman looked set for a move to Everton for the second year running with David Moyes's side willing to pay £9m. Fulham deals for a replacement right-back never materialised, leaving Everton to look elsewhere and end up with Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

A few things on this. Firstly, I worry that we'll never get that kind of fee again for the almost 31 year old. Also, him not being in the squad against Sunderland now makes even less sense. Our problems in the second-half came after Arbeloa decided to hook Castagne and with no ready-made replacement on the bench, Fulham looked light - may this have cost us a point?

Looking into developmental loans, why on earth is Luc De Fougerolles still at the club? I get that it took us until the last hour to sign Affengruber but seriously? Fig Rolls has just come off the back of a good World Cup and spent last year out in Belgium. Where does he fit in now? Carabao Cup fixtures and PL2 football until January? A bit of a mess.

Are we ready?
I quite like the business of Larsson and Affengruber and think that we did some good late business, but it doesn't feel like enough. To me, the squad feels quite unbalanced. Oscar Bobb looks shot for confidence and after losing both Wilson and Chukwueze in the summer, Fulham have failed to bring in another wide option.

Macaulay Zepa looked good against AFC Wimbledon but that's an awful lot of pressure to put on him to be Bobb's understudy. Arbeloa clearly doesn't rate Tete and I know we tried for other options but that entire right-hand side feels a bit weak.

There have been question marks regarding Bernd Leno as well and I wonder if there may have been an opportunity to look for another option. Not necessarily someone who's ready now, but a younger and hungrier second-choice than Lecomte. Instead, it feels like we've kicked it down the road to deal with next summer.

I think there's been good business; our midfield looks pretty stacked for the first-time in years. But we certainly could - and should - have done more.

Our View
From a Fulham perspective, this is exactly the kind of report supporters want to wake up to. Larsson feels like a proper modern midfield signing, young enough to improve, polished enough to contribute straight away, and exciting enough to lift the mood around the club. When a team like Fulham moves early, gets the player to London for talks and then pushes a deal to the medical stage, it gives fans real confidence that the recruitment team know exactly what they want.

What makes this one especially encouraging is the level of intent behind it. A fee rising to €25m is serious money for Fulham and it points to a desire to build with quality rather than simply fill gaps. Supporters will look at Larsson's profile and see someone who can bring drive, composure and presence in midfield, all qualities that matter hugely over the course of a Premier League season.

There is also something exciting about signing a player before the wider market fully catches up. Fulham seem to have identified Larsson as a major target, moved decisively and got themselves to the front of the queue. If this gets fully over the line, fans will feel the club have landed a player with genuine upside and one who could become a huge favourite at Craven Cottage very quickly.

Fulham had last-minute offer rejected – Club refused to let player leave
Fulham made a last-minute move for Yaser Asprilla on Deadline Day, but Girona weren't interested in letting him go.

The Colombian had already been linked with Celtic earlier in the window. Girona were refusing to sanction an exit then, and they stuck to that position right through to Monday's deadline.

Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra says Fulham sent an offer for the 22-year-old in the final hours.

They proposed a loan with a fee and an option to buy. Girona rejected it.

Fulham went further than Celtic
That takes things a step beyond the Celtic interest reported earlier in the window. Back in August, Sierra said Asprilla wanted to stay in Europe. Celtic, Valencia and Lecce were interested, along with clubs in France.

Girona, though, were refusing to let him leave "for the moment". That left some room for things to change before the window closed. Fulham clearly thought it was worth having a go.

They actually put an offer on the table, but Girona still wouldn't budge. Sierra says the Spanish club "also rejected" Fulham's proposal. In the end, they simply didn't allow Asprilla to leave on Deadline Day.

There's no figure given for Fulham's loan fee or the option to buy.

Girona wouldn't open the door
Asprilla had already been looking for another move after a difficult spell away from Girona. Celtic made contact for him in January, before Galatasaray won the race.

The Turkish club offered Girona a loan deal which included a €23m (£19.9m) purchase clause. He went there, but that move didn't work out. Asprilla struggled for regular football, suffered a knee injury and eventually returned to Spain.

His future was therefore back on the agenda this summer. And Fulham's offer would have given Girona a loan fee immediately, while leaving the door open for a permanent transfer later.

Even that wasn't enough. Asprilla now stays at Girona despite wanting a move and attracting interest from several European clubs.

Why Fulham failed to sign Fikayo Tomori on deadline day
Fikayo Tomori is set to be reinstated into the first-team squad at Milan, having failed to agree terms with Fulham.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the English defender was in London recently with his agents to discuss terms over a move to Fulham, but the West London outfit did not manage to come to an agreement with Milan. There were no conditions to do so, as even the player could never agree personal terms with the London side.

Tomori is now back at Milanello, where he's expected to rejoin Ruben Amorim's squad. The Portuguese coach had made it clear to Tomori throughout pre-season that he could leave, but he's happy to welcome him back into the fray, with the 28-year-old also keen to fight for his place at the club. This was communicated to the defender in a phonecall with the Portuguese just after the Fulham move broke down.

The Chelsea academy graduate was subject to interest from several Premier League sides, with with Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and Nottingham Forest having considered making a move for him before Fulham entered the fray.

That Milan did not manage to sign another centre-back is another key reason for Tomori's quick reintegration into the squad. He's even going to take back his #23 shirt. Matteo Gabbia's recent issues with an ankle discomfort could even see him make the bench against Juventus on Sunday.

No need to hurry
Tomori loves Milan. He has said no to moves away from San Siro in the past, including a high-profile one to rivals Juventus, and is keen to make the most of what chances he gets this season.

Another reason Tomori doesn't need to worry is his contract. He's in the final year of his €4.49m-per-year deal with Milan; next summer, one can expect him to be on the move as a free agent.

Tomori attracted attention from several Premier League clubs, and while he wouldn't have suited all of them (case in point, Aston Villa), there are several other landing spots where he could shine and resuscitate his reputation both on the club and national scenes. Next summer, when he'll be a free agent at 29, he can expect similar interest in his services. And, in the absence of a transfer fee, who knows what more suitors he could attract.
