A very good analysis from Danny.
A few tweaks and our defence will be alright.
Embarrassing all the booing.
We are Fulham .Let's stick with the team.
And get behind the manager.
Check it out.

Did Danny suggest what tweaks were needed in our defense?

for all 3 goals and the disallowed one .
43% of their attacks came dowwn the left hanside.Players too far up the pitch.

We have players new to a system, others new to the club and a talented man as our manager.
When or if it clicks we will be watching a team that will be a joy to watch.
If it doesn't, and we continue to play as we do then it's still going to be entertaining..
Im not worried yet.

Danny Murphy laid into Arbeloa, and quite right too.

"Arbeloa wants to press, he's talked about it before [...] the problem is when teams play through and you're playing on the halfway line you've got to have centre halves who are really quick and have good recovery. [...]

"They're all over the place, Castagne ends up... not even playing as centre half, really, Andersen's at right back, there's big gaps in the back line, loads of space for Pino to get the cross in, nobody closing him down. [...]

"This is a great example of the manager's messaging to win the ball back quick. That's not like Castagne, who's an experienced international, he's dived out of position, left Andersen isolated and there's the goal. [...]

"When there's a turnover and a transition, they're not man for man, they're overloads: Pino and Castagne and Mitchell there, Castagne's got 2 v 1, there's nothing he can do, mainly 'cause the centre halves are out of position, they're vertical, not horizontal, that gap's too big [...] then you see the gap in the midfield, the distance from King [...] that's too much, and all of a sudden there's chaos. [...]

"They're not managing the game well enough. [...] Castagne, I don't think he sees Chilwell [...] Robinson switches off, that's poor play, that's basics."

Some of our fans have already made up their minds and no amount of analysis, even from a former Fulham hero, will change their minds. The pitchforks are being sharpened and they want AA gone.

Honest question. Really, I'm not being facetious. But where does this "talented man as our manager" narrative come from? Can you point to any success he has had in his short managerial career? On what basis do you make the judgement that he is talented? Does managing Real for 4 months automatically make him talented? And before that he was only with the Madrid academy for 7 months? I don't understand why so many on this board think he's this tactical genius or something. There's no evidence of it.

What in Danny Murphy's analysis makes you think he's defending Arbeloa?

Has he said he should be sacked? If what he is highlighting is areas we need to change then that is correct. If AA does that and it works out then great but I feel some fans want him gone regardless.

Well he's a talented footballer who played at the highest level (the highest).
He was successful with the R'Madrid youngsters,in fact so good they let him have a go at the main gig. So yes he is talented where football is concerned.

Haha, no but he is clearly saying the way the team is being set up is horrendous.

How do you quantify that he was successful with the Madrid youngsters? He was in that job for a heartbeat. Florentino Perez clearly rates him, but that has nothing to do with us. And we shouldn't be basing managerial appointments on which of his former Madrid players Perez is fond of.

demeant0r

The man was a defender. You'd think after 2+ decades of playing at the highest level, he'd have a modicum of knowledge on how to set up a defence and that defence would be his priority. This season is going to be a disaster.

I would question if you ever watch the Madrid academy or U21's
so seriously doubt you are in a position to judge his performance. Just accept he is talented unless of course you are a better judge of the man's credentials than Perez.

Well the weekend is done and dusted and as things stand we know AA has to tighten the defence. The new signings might be an instant fit or the lessons learned might be implemented but there seems to be a consensus the 'rest of it' shows promise.
Whatever happens now something had to change and it was never going to be easy.

I have read that inexperience is the reason for AA's lack of tactical nous and erratic substitutions but imagine having an experienced Prem manager, a huge outlay on players and still be on less than three points. Glasner, de Zerbi and Lampard were all names touted on here when it became fairly clear Silva was off and Emri hasn't quite got things ticking at Villa as yet. Howe is being mentioned already but, ironically,I think we need to get to the Newcastle game with this set up then stick or twist.

Well I'm a Fulham fan and quite frankly I don't care who Florentino Perez rates. Why do I need to accept that he is a talent on the basis of his relationship with the Madrid chairman? Utter nonsense.

F(f)CUK

It is too easy to play against our team. With all outfield players pushing up and our fullbacks furthest forward on both sides of the pitch, it takes one long ball to put us in trouble. All the players in the world, and understanding our tactics won't make a difference. I want him to change his ridiculous tactics or go. If he won't change then he might as well go now.

I do not say this lightly. I am also not someone who calls for managers' heads. We are getting relegated with these tactics.
