;D Thanks! Sign that left winger up!!

Some interesting points; The Maestro had just a handful of games to go on his long and very distinguished career. At the time of the game, in December 69, we were in an unhandy fourteenth position yet a late season rally saw us finish in fourth. 2nd place and promotion followed the next season. In September we won 8-0 at Halifax with Steve Earle scoring five. We played 50 games that season (46 league, 3 league cup and 1 FA Cup) and Jimmy Conway played in every single of them. He was our penalty taker that season six scored, five of them by the end of September!
Johny's in the basement
Mixing up the medicine
I'm on the pavement
Thinking about the government
The man in the trench coat
Badge out, laid off
Says he's got a bad cough
Wants to get it paid off
Look out kid
It's somethin' you did
God knows when
But you're doin' it again

I object to the term 'vintage'

It was only yesterday.

Where did the years go?

Oh yes I remember.

;D :o ::) ;) :'(

Long before my time sadly but I loved the aerial shot at the start showing the old riverside stand and Hammy End.

When wa sthe riverside stand built and was it gratefully received?

HatterDon

anyone remember how this match turned out?

Interesting that the film of Dodgin pere and fils included a slight glimpse of Jimmy Hill interviewing them both -- probably for BBC's Match of the Day. Les Barrett -- good left foot and, judging by the first half of this match, a very useful right foot.

Thanks for the vid!
