as a kid I used to love 'pot black', I've not watched much snooker the past few years but I'll miss Ted Lowe' s understated comments RIP

The classic was when in the  black and white TV days,  he said that the player was going to pot the pink, and for black and white viewers that's the ball behind the blue!

I actually remember him saying that at the time, Dave, but because the balls were on their spots, it didn't seem silly. Anyone who played the game knew how the balls were placed. It was only later when the comment passed into folklore did it occur to me that it was funny.
