QPR season ticket prices set to rise by 35 per cent

May 19 2011 By Paul Warburton

QPR season tickets are set to rise by a staggering £250 for the most expensive option when the Championship winners take on the Premier League in August.

We have learned there was even a discussion at top level considering a 90 percent rise on all 2010-11 prices – before a modest 35 percent increase was agreed.

Fans ready to make a dent in their credit cards when the details are officially announced next week will need to know there are just 400 more season tickets available than last season.

Around 8,600 had a regular view of Rangers' winning campaign in the second tier of English football – but only 9,000 will be available for those wanting a guaranteed entry to the mouth-watering clashes with west London rivals Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool and the other 15 clubs.

Sounds like they are keeping an awful lot of tickets back for away fans if they are only selling half of their capacity as season tickets. Do you suppose they know they are the biggest club in the multiverse? :59:

Also, love the bit about a 35% increase being modest.

....And what about the seats there that have a view of the pitch and some room for your legs? I wonder how much they'll be going up?  :005:

They couldn't sell out even when they were winning.  Imagine how many empty seats there will be after a series of heavy beatings...

Also only a 10 million transfer budget as well......these guys dont like spending do they?

Could be the master plan:

Get promotion and get loads of dosh
Increase prices and get loads more dosh
don't spend any money and save loads of dosh
Get relegated, parachute payment =  more dosh.

Result, back in the second divsion with pocket loads of the stuff. A nice season's work.

In theory, it is the way for smaller clubs (so, obviously not QPHa) to make it in the Premiership. Win promotion, let the promoted lads have their season in the sun, spend the bare minimum, go down. THEN buy a couple of decent players, unproven (so, cheaper) prospects who improve the squad. Win promotion a second time and repeat. By the third or fourth promotion you should have a good enough squad to survive.
Of course, this does depend on others not improving enough to stop your bi-annual promotion parties.

Why so few Season Tickets? I don't get it. All p1ss-taking to one side, surely they could have shifted about 12k, and still left the entire School End for away fans plus had another 2-3k for floating fans in the home areas.

English by birth, Fulham by the grace of God.

The reason they are only issuing 9000 tickets is simple, it means basically that away fans are going to be charged mega expensive prices as will their own matchday supporters, if they sold the entire Loft to season ticket holders then the fans in the school end would have to be charged an identical matchday price,
basically away fans and members are going to get financially exploited at Loftus Road next season.

I seem to remember that last season there was a massive hike in prices at that time and that caused a lot of upset amongst the regulars.

So this price hike should be seen in the context of the previous one too. Not just a one-off.
