Former Liverpool frontman set for Fulham debut

Fulham v NSI Runavik
FULHAM could hand debuts to Lauri Dalla Valle and Kerim Frei for tomorrow night's Europa League qualifier at Craven Cottage.

Boss Martin Jol revealed that young striker Dalla Valle – a signing last summer from Liverpool - and midfielder Frei will be included for the squad against the minnows from the Faroe Islands.

But Moussa Dembele has been ruled out of the clash as he's failed to shake off an ankle injury.

The Belgian star reported back for training this week but will need another fortnight to recover after being assessed by Fulham's medical staff.

Carlos Salcido and Clint Dempsey are also missing as they are still on holiday after playing in the Gold Cup final at the weekend.

SWP ready to do Bolt from City

SHAUN WRIGHT-PHILLIPS is keen to revive a move to Bolton this summer.

Wanderers were after the Manchester City winger in January.

But they could not finance a £4million deal and the player's £60,000-a-week wages.

Now, though, SWP has accepted he is not part of City chief Roberto Mancini's plans and, keen to stay in the North West, has confided in close pal Zat Knight that the Reebok move interests him.

Bolton centre-back Knight said: "Shaun is a very good friend. Speaking to him, he'd love to come to Bolton.
"If he had to take a pay cut. I think he would.

"He's at that age now where he needs to be playing first-team football week in, week out. I don't think he has played regularly for the last two seasons.

"But he's a fantastic player. And if people like that want to play here, it shows how far the club has come."

Fulham also showed an interest in Wright-Phillips, 29, in May. But Mark Hughes, who signed him at City three years ago, has now left.

The ex-Chelsea star is one of a number of players City will let go this summer.

But they are likely to want a fee, as he cost them £9m.

Fulham a banker to beat NSI Runavik in bet of the day live
Cottagers take on the Faroe Islands outfit with the bookies forecasting a comfortable win for Martin Jol in his first match in charge. Watch the game live online with bet365

Match Odds: Fulham 1.02, Draw 15.0, NSI Runavik 51.0 (bet365)

Martin Jol takes charge of the Cottagers for the first time as Fulham take on minnows NSI Runavik in the Europa League. The match, which is being broadcast live on bet365 on Thursday, is a 'banker' for the home side, who are a short 1.02 to win.

Faroe Islands outfit NSI Runavik are massive underdogs to win (51.0) but do have a slight advantage as their domestic season is played throughout the English pre-season. Little is expected of the part-timers, who were dumped out by Swedish side Gefle at the same stage last season.

Jol will be without Carlos Salcido and Clint Dempsey after their exploits in the Gold Cup, but he has promised to take the game seriously despite the gulf in class between the teams.

"We'll treat it like a friendly with a serious touch. We will get the information we need and do the preparation for the game," he told the press in advance of the game.

Betting verdict
Bet365 are offering 58 markets on the game which should be a walkover for the hosts. No value is available whatsoever on a home win (1.02) so handicapping is the best alternative. You can back Fulham -2 @ 1.40 with a more attractive line available on -4 @ 2.87 .

Handicap markets
Fulham - 1 @ 1.12
Fulham -2 @ 1.40
Fulham -3 @ 1.75
Fulham - 4 @ 2.87
Fulham -5 @ 4.50

The minnows did manage a goal in Sweden against Gefle last year so ambitious punters can back both teams to score @ 3.25 . Expect plenty of goals in this contest where there should only be one winner.

Tip: Fulham -3 @ 1.75

Value Tip: Own goal in game @ 5.50

Match Odds: Fulham 1.02, Draw 15.0, NSI Runavik 51.0 (bet365)

Hey, Fulham fans! Why not dress like a knob head?
June 29th, 2011 · No Comments

Nice spot from our wireless friends at talkSPORT

Fulham's season kicks off tomorrow with a thrilling first round Europa League game against Runavik from the Faro Islands. Yea, we didn't know either...

Anyway, if that's not getting the pulses racing, why not take a look at this fabulous new range of merchandise from the Fulham shop! It's amazing! It's got Michael Jackson all over it and his semi-iconic hat perched delightfully over the boooooring Fulham crest!

If you think a t-shirt with both Mohamed Al Fayed and Jacko on it is a little bit too much - you square - then why not have a look at the following items that are classier than that Tara Palmer Tomkinson walking around the MDF Egyptian bit in Harrods...

£14.99...

£7.99...

99p (the postcard not the statue)...

There's loads more great stuff here that in no way sullies the name of Fulham football Club...

For the person who has everything and whom you hate

We don't know how you felt about Mohamed Al-Fayed erecting a statue to his close personal showbiz dead friend Michael Jackson at Fulham FC's Craven Cottage Stadium. We imagine you feel it was an entirely appropriate and poignant tribute, what with Michael being such a huge fan of The Whites (he very much wanted to be one). So you'll be thrilled to learn there's a sumptuous range of official Michael Jackson's Statue merchandise available.

Thanks to the ever excellent thedailyswarm.com for alerting us to this commemorative cornucopia. We literally cannot decide what to buy first. Click on the links to see them...

Obviously our eyes are drawn to this t-shirt bearing an image of our hero, in the company of the King of Pop. That's lovely.

We're also curious about the Concert Tee, especially as Michael never, as far as we know, played any gigs in the London football stadium. And we're not sure about the slogan: Michael At The Cottage. Surely that's just a former Wham! singer's status update?

Maybe we'll just go for the keyring. Although Holy Moly's own John Hill has pointed out it looks like a penis with arms (the next evolutionary step, we reckon).

So we'll have that and a copy of the What Really Happened To Michael Jackson book. But we'll be very cross if it claims he was murdered in a tunnel in Paris.

Buy all that and more at Michael at the Cottage - Tribute Collection
