Jol plans partnership with RKC Waalwijk
by DAN on JULY 11, 2011

Martin Jol is planning a partnership with RKC Waalwijk, which would see some of his new club's young talent head out to Holland on loan.

The Brabants Dagblad says that RKC coach Ruud Brood attended Fulham's defeat at AFC Wimbledon on Saturday, in which a number of Fulham's youngsters played. Jol has already talked about his plans to send some of the club's promising youngsters out on loan:

If you have a lot of youngsters who are probably not involved every week, I think you have to find a situation where they can play every week. So there will be a couple of players going out on loan. Hopefully I can send out 2-3 in Holland because that's a very good competition to play in for young players.

RKC won the Dutch first division last season and are currently planning for their first campaign back in the top flight.

It was actually Fulham who invited RKC. This might indicate that it isn't just the manager but equally the club as such who want such a partnership

Brood actually means "bread". Now to be the pedantic bum once more. The reason why a lot of Dutchmen have very funny names is historical. When Napoleon conquered the Netherlands he instructed every citizen to have, once and for all, a last name (that was necessary for the Code Napoleon's implementation). The Dutch, convinced that they would liberate themselves from Napoleon quite soon afterwards, gave bogus names like "bread" or "brick" (and some worse). The Flemings - who were conquered some years before - however decided to officialize their last names or create new ones that made sense (the reason why a lot of people are called e.g. "van den broeck" is because that is a literal translation from where they lived, in this case "from the swamp area"; others picked the name of their profession, like my family).
In 1815 however - when the Netherlands gained independence again - the new King considered the Code Napoleon to be a very modern and handy administrative tool and decided to keep it... and the Dutchmen kept their silly names :P

That would explain Van der Vaart meaning "I play for a side full of farts"
