NFR- 2011 World Police & Fire Games

Just to let you know that this Friday the 2011 WPFG starts and this year is fittingly being staged in New York (I think Belfast is host next time). New York got it this year as it is part of the 10 year anniversary of Sept 11.

In any event, I have volunteered to be on the staff and help out and it looks great. Would recommend anyone finding themselves in the New York area between August 26 and Sept 5 to check out  http://2011wpfg.org/ and take a look. There will be 20000 extra fire and police men in the City most of whom are pretty fit and competing so this is probably going to be the safest time ever to visit New York.   

If you have nothing better to do at the time, please check it out. It is a bit different and all in good spirits by some very brave men and women.

thank you so very much for throwing yourself into this. There's nothing in this world quite like volunteer work, and I can't think of any groups more worthy of your help than the world's police and firefighters.

In case you haven't figured it out during the time you've lived in NYC, you really don't want to be anywhere near the FDNY or NYPD whenever they have a beef with each other. Just sayin'
