Andrew Johnson could leave Fulham for just £1 million

Oct 23 2011 by Dean Jones, The People

ANDREW JOHNSON could leave Fulham in January for just £1million if he fails to agree a new deal.

His contract expires next year and the club recently made a new offer with improved terms from when the two parties last spoke.

But there is still no agreement and an increasing expectation within the club that the forward – who joined Fulham for £10.5m from Everton in 2008 – could move when the transfer window reopens. Johnson, 30, has publicly stated that he would be willing to stay at Fulham but People Sport recently revealed how many senior players have become unsettled since Martin Jol arrived as manager.

QPR – who he recently scored a hat-trick against – are waiting to snap him up and he would also be interested in a move abroad.

LEICESTER have also been monitoring his situation in hope he may fancy the guarantee of first-team football. Fulham are already making contingency plans for his exit by lining up Stuttgart's Russian striker Pavel Pogrebnyak in a £4m swoop.

Jol's spies checked out the burly target man when he scored for Stuttgart last week.

BLACKBURN and SUNDERLAND have previously shown an interest in the 28-year-old but were put off by his price and wage demands.

But this could be Pogrebnyak's last chance of a move to England and both the club and player are thought to be willing to lower their previous demands.
