So not very busy at work I decided to look at how good we have been each year:

V top half of the table
and
V bottom half of the table

These are the average pts per game we earned each season

Against Top half of the table
01-02: 0.85
02-03: 0.85
03-04: 0.94
04-05: 0.70
05-06: 1.10
06-07: 0.80
07-08: 0.80
08-09: 1.17
09-10: 0.90
10-11: 0.61
11-12: 0.83

Average: 0.86

Against Bottom half of the table
01-02: 1.50
02-03: 1.72
03-04: 1.75
04-05: 1.67
05-06: 1.44
06-07: 1.28
07-08: 1.11
08-09: 1.60
09-10: 1.56
10-11: 1.90
11-12: 1.00

Average: 1.50

Points to note:
Last season was the best & worst ever in both sections.
This season we need to start winning our lge as its worse than the Sanchez/Hodgson season.

Also here are the positions we finished in the table using only the away results. looking at it I think we give the boys a bit too much stick about it compared to other teams.

Away Lge Table Position
01-02: 14
02-03: 17
03-04: 9
04-05: 14
05-06: 20
06-07: 17
07-08: 12
08-09: 9
09-10: 15
10-11: 11
11-12: 13

Average: 13/14th

And the home positions:
Home Lge Table Position
01-02: 11
02-03: 7
03-04: 8
04-05: 13
05-06: 7
06-07: 14
07-08: 19
08-09: 6
09-10: 8
10-11: 10
11-12: 15

Average: 10/11th

oh well back to work.

Mitch

How did you decide who was top or bottom half? Based on their standing at the time, or at the end of season?

I wonder what it would look like taking into account form? Probably similar, but still it'd be interesting.

But what was the weather like?  :58:

Half the away games would have been up north so at a guess.....grim.

It would be interesting to think what you would be capable of if you had a really slow day at work!!!

I guess the main conclusion is that we need to start winning  :dft011:

Now, where did I put my coat?

* Fulham have averaged more points per game against top-half sides than bottom-half teams this season.

* They have averaged more shots per game (15.6) than Manchester United.

* Fulham will need to beat Arsenal next week for Martin Jol's side to catch up with Mark Hughes' start to last season.

in a way, he is replicating what we did when Hodgson was here in that we did relatively well against the good teams and lousy against the teams we should have been beating, though Jol seems to be doing a tad worse in that department. Also our home form or results have not been nearly as good as the last two managers, sans Hughes poor run through Christmas last year.

Jol has kept our defense solid. I think we are in transition and bodies will exit now. The youngsters will start playing more and we will finish lower than we have in several seasons however I think he will find that balance between the younger and experience players and we will have an excellent squad next year after a couple of our senior players leave.

I only care about avoiding relegation and continuing to get younger. Jol has done what he said he was going to do and we have to accept we will feel some pain while it happens rather than have him continue to do what the last two managers have done with the same squad albeit they were all 1-3 years younger.

That's because he's so short he'd have to leap up to punch The Equalizer in the kneecap!
