...I didn't see the Fulham V Newcastle game in 1956, it has been described as the best ever game at Craven Cottage, but was tonights the best and most important game in Fulham's history*..?

I have had my share of good Fulham moments, but this has to be the best game at the Cottage.

However, in terms of Fulham the club and overall importance, the biggest win is still the Pompey away to avoid relegation on the last day of the season. Fulham would not have been in this situation to play Juventus had Murphy not nailed it

A great great night. The biggest but not the most important. But what a night
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Yea, all I was thinking was how that Pompey moment brought us to tonights magic. In years to come we will aslways ask where were you at pompey where were you at the Juventus game. I wish to *** I was at the cottage tonight..

Let's hope that the question folk will ask will be "were you at the Europa final when Fulham won?"

...I have been talking to several who were fortunate enough to be there tonight, - to a man (and 3 women) they think this was the greatest!

Pompey or maybe even Man Citeh was the beginning of the end of the old Fulham. Tonight Mr Hodgson's Fulham beat the legendary Juventus - we came back from behind, against all odds, against a team with 6 world cup winners, we made them look second best, we took advantage of our circumstances, every man in white did their bit, we did it without Murphy and Pantsil too.

Tonights match has been watched all around the world, can you imagine the impact this win has made to future support, not just in Britain, not just in the USA and the already faithful in Australia, but also everywhere in the world. The impact of this win is yet to be realised.

This is our biggest ever win - for those reasons alone...

Still wouldn't have been there had we lost at Pompey.
Reality.

Has to be one of the top 5!  :045:
Fulham for life!

Key phrase from LB is that tonight's game has been seen worldwide. That comfortable little riverbank club who were no danger to anyone is now known worldwide as a real threat to the very best.

What a night, I'm still floating.........

I hope Jimmy Bullard was watching on the telly from his Big Club.

Make that "Soon to be big Championship Club"

Is there something unique about our Europa campaign in all of football. In that Roy has of course coached the team well, brought his experienece of the oposition to bare etc but has uniquely been able to tell his team, without cliche, to go out there and express yourselves. It does not matter if you lose.. there is no life or death bulls*** here.. play for yourselves , play for the joy of the game aganist the best in Europe

Vinnieffc

On balance, taking into account the results from the Great Escape, globally this has to be the biggest result in the history of our club. After the Pompey game I was in tears of relief. This time it's different - euphoria - not just the win but the manner of it. Remembering the awful early 90's, it was all soo worth it. I am as proud as I can possibly be. I'm a Fulham fan and so pleased to be.

LB - I was at the Newcastle game and as great as it was we did not win it.
Obviously I wasn't there tonight but this must go down as our greatest victory in the fifty-nine years I have been supporting Fulham.
With respect to our relegation defying wins against Man City and Pompey we had done that before - who was at Northampton for example?
But this was something special against one of Europe's top teams. It's not that we beat them but how we beat them.
I am elated for the players and envious of those who witnessed it. What a result.

It is the greatest Win for sure, I am getting txt's from mates of the Dark side with congratulations! Truly stunning performance.
Guy goes into the doctor's.
"Doc, I've got a cricket ball stuck up my backside
"How's that?"
"Don't you start"

Mr CorkedHat,
You forget it is a different game now. Relegation is a complete and utter financial disaster now and if you don't come straight back up, game is pretty much over... A Fantastic game and surely our best game and result at the Cottage ever.

However, had we not beat Pompey away we would not have played Juventus this year. It would have been impossible. And that is a fact.

So I will argue that Pompey away was still the most important game in Fulham history. Sorry for being a party pooper on this glorious day. Maybe I am grumpy and jealous because I wasn't there either...
