Any Mac/Steam/Football Manager 12 users?

Any gifted mac users who have steam and football manager who wouldn't mind a bit of troubleshooting out there?

My version of steam (curse the dang thing) has stopped working. I had unistalled for space on my mac (it was 50 gigs of space on a 320 and I'm a photographer) Anyways it gets caught up and says i need to be online to update. However i am online, i can't do the little trick where you go into the registry.vdf file and change the 0 to 1 to get it to work since there is about 3 words in that file now and one of them is english. The Registry file is the only thing in my steam folder.

Hmm.. I had that message once, there wasn't a 0 to 1 trick, I deleted a file I think in my Mac's library folder and it worked. I'll try and see if I can remember/ find instructions.

Ive tried that, any way you can copy your registry.vdf file and post it for me?

The registry trick isn't 100% guaranteed to work either I'm afraid, had to re-download a few times to get it working. There's another reg you can edit but I'm not at my computer to tell you what it is

Well if redownloading is the trick I've done it about 32 times.

you're screwed then :D, worked after maybe 3 attempts for me. The other reg file is config.vdf, have you had a look at that and changed a value from 0 to 1, I cant quite remember the line but obviously has something to do with online = in it

I'm not a massive fan of running games on Lion on my Macbook Pro, so I've installed Windows 7 on a Bootcamp partition for gaming. Win 7 runs bootifully on Mac hardware. I also use VMWare Fusion 4 to access the Bootcamp partition in a Window from the Lion desktop and games still run pretty well in that.

The only file i have in the entire steam folder is a corrupted registry, no config or anything like that

Is football manager any good for learning tactics and formations etc. I'm a bit crap at that and thought playing it might help. Also do you play it on my PC, or my other half has a playstation I could use?

Its great for learning the theories behind tactics and realizing that the same tactics don't always work on different teams, it shows you how to change them up and develop new ones. However this version of FM is a bit tweaked so if your team gets some great morale they will go on one hell of a run (3 place with current squad first season) It is a menu based game so i prefer to play it on the computer, i know it has handheld versions but i am not sure on the ps3. It doesn't take very much to run it so you're average pc should do the trick. However there aren't any faces or badges ( well outside the top division there are) so first thing i always do i download a player face pack and a club crest pack.

I really enjoy it, its great when you find players. I bought a regen (a player who really doesnt exsist but comes into the game to fill up retired spots) from Newcastle aged 17 that got 713 for all competitions and country in 7 years. Ive spent hours on it.
